As a Pats fan. Mac had zero weapons this year but that doesn’t excuse all the terrible throws and turnovers. His decision making this year was atrocious lol

Well when you’re dropping back to pass behind one of the worst offensive lines in the NFL and have next to no talent at receiver his bad passes and terrible decision making is completely explainable. He was scared shitless of getting hit, so he was rushing his reads and constantly throwing off his back foot, which fully explains all of his bad throws and poor reads. I don’t think Mac is terrible, I think he was scared and set up to fail, we all saw flashes of a great player his rookie season just give him some talent at O line and a solid receiver and the kid still has potential.

You're right.......he was set up to fail. If the Patriots had skilled recievers, along with Rhamondre and the top 10 defense, they would be back in contention in the afc.

If your qb holds on to the ball too long because he sucks or your wideouts can’t get open or your guys in the backfield miss blocking assignments people always blame the line. Not to mention the defense can be more aggressive if the skill guys can’t make them pay for it. That said….i watched zero Patriots games this year. @powerbychevy I see where your coming from and I agree that a good oline won't make a bad quarterback great, but a bad oline will make a great quarterback bad. You can have all the weapons out there, if you don't have an oline, especially on the blind side, it won't mean a thing. Also our ground game was horrible cause we couldn't block at all. Personally I say we go get a good wideout in free agency, use the 3rd on alt and draft either penix or nix and see which quarterback comes out on top cause the line has been killing us for two years and jones had absolutely no time, like i watched plays where once the ball got to jones hands, he had somebody in his face(im not pro jones, i just dont want another quarterback to have nothing to protect him). brady and gronk and all were good, but new england for the past 30 years has always had a great offensive line and one of top 5 reasons why new england has 6 rings

QBs have such a weirdly unique position in sports. If the team suceeds, its mostly all put on their heads and vice versa if they fail. In reality no man is an island, and QBs need protection and weapons to achieve anything. Patriots need some upgrades and Mac deserves another year to prove himself.

Mmm except they really aren’t. Both teams in front of them are taking a QB, the bears will either pull the trigger on Caleb Williams or trade back to someone who’s going to draft Caleb Williams. Next best shot is going second to the commanders for sure so you’re already left with option C. With guys like Marvin Harrison Jr possibly sitting at 3 you really want a QB like Maye getting drafted and still throwing to absolutely no one? No. Also grabbing a QB means you’re basically not competing for a championship for about 3-5 years depending on who you snag. Guys like Patty Mahomes don’t come around often, most are just Ryan Tannehills on their best day and really aren’t worth squat. Plus you really don’t want to be the guy who drafts the next potential Trubisky because “you need a qb”

So if Mac stays, Patriots draft a what, receiver like Marvin Harrison? That takes the pick the Cardinals probably want the most from them. So they could trade back or just take the next best (Malik Nabers). Still never know, but this spot could be the spot to trade up for. Still want my Vikings to get up and grab someone they can sit, but im fine with grabbing an Edge at 11, jumping back in late 1st, grabbing JJ McCarthy, jumping up in 2nd round, grabbing Sweat for run stuff. Resign Danielle, resign Kirko for 2, sit JJ McCarthy. Bam. Instant impact with insane d line that will help your dbs not look like shit.

A lot of you don’t watch CFL… but I’m Canadian do I do, The patriots signed Nathan Rourke, I can tell you right now that he is the QB of the future. He played for the BC lions for one year and got scooped up, CFL may be different to NFL in ways, but accuracy doesn’t change between the sports. Nathan Rourke us the truth for the next few years

I agree to a point! I think they should trade back staying in the top ten and draft a OT and let Brown walk. That will give them up a second number 1 pick next season. That's the smart play. Build up the offensive line and grab a couple tight ends/ wide receivers this draft I would draft the whole draft on the offensive side of the ball. And sign as many guys on defense as I could. With that defense anything is possible!!! May even bring in an experienced QB to put in the room. Mayfield makes sense because of the O.C., but I think K.Cousins would give you on honest shot at the playoffs...if the O-line is fixed!!!

Mac needs the help over the O-Line. Since he's still on a rookie contract and Maye & Williams going to be drafted in the top 2, you gotta go with a reliable WR like Marvin Williams and make many of your draft picks out of the offensive line with a pinch of defensive depth.

It absolutely is the best choice. I think Mac can still do well. He went 10&7 his Rookie year. The best of that draft. I don't see the Jaguars talking trade about Lawrence! Put 30 lbs of muscle on him, and work on his running mechanics. Teach him when to run and when to throw away. He still better then Zippy Zappy. Draft a receiver. Harrison Jr. Someone who can actually catch the ball! Draft O Lineman next 3 picks. Then we may have a winning season.

As a Pats fan, he had no o-line, no receivers, and a horrible coaching staff. You can blame his decision making, but its only because every time he makes a throw, he thinks about how everyone in NE is saying he sucks, hes bad, he needs to be traded. He thrives on cockiness and confidence. When you take that away, he cant make the split second decisions he needs to.

As a Pats fan, i personally think we should hold onto Mac and Zappe. Use this draft to get some actually good recievers and O-line. Let Zappe and Mac be given a chance to make something happen with a (hopefully) better offense. New England has been chaos since Brady left between frequent coaching changes, loss of many good offense and defense players, and a fan base so used to winning almost everything that it's not fair to just dump everything on Jones and blame him 100%

I'm not a draft guy, but the QB class for this upcoming draft is said to be really deep. Even if Mac Jones had no help, there definitely is the potential for an upgrade in the draft. Like Justin Fields really isn't bad either, but you have the pick, and it's supposed to be a really deep class. Are they just supposed to waste it?
