    My collection now only consists of H. Moser timepieces including the new Streamliner Centre Seconds, the “Green Dragon”. The luxury of H. Moser is not in it’s price point but in it’s rarity, innovation, brand connection, unique design and of course quality.

    Great analogy Edouard on car shows. For me in NYC it was the annual Javits car show. To check out innovation , future prototypes and current new offerings. Five years ago i went and discovered no great technology leaps above my 7 year old loaded Lexus. I went and test drove a Tesla , bought it and love it Same why I go more to independents, unique, passion, art of indies. Love my Mosers and other indies

    Big fan (and customer) of Moser. Edouard listed only four collections and did not include the Venturer and Swiss Alp Watch lines. Are they being discontinued??

  • @davidjb3671

    @davidjb3671

    Good question and I've heard him mention the same list of 4 elsewhere recently. I guess (and hope) perhaps the Venturer is seen as a subset of the Endeavor, but unfortunately the Swiss Alp Watch is probably going away. I believe Moser have stated they have a limited number of the rectangular movements and don't currently plan to produce any more, though hopefully that may change in future. Right now I feel they want to move ahead with the Streamliner and other new designs, and at only around 1,500 pieces per year they just can't do everything - much as we would like them to.

    Heinrich Moser Thank you for clarifying. I had a feeling the Swiss Alp Watch would have a limited run but not the Venturer. But I understand the need to focus and pair down the collection to one dress/classic watch line. I have yet to see my Venturer on another wrist and, now, I suspect I never will. I look forward to each new launch and wish you all much success.

    @@atis23 Great! I ordered one too and I should get it in March. If you consider that they only produce 15 - 20 pieces of this model per month for the whole market (so I've read) the waiting isn't that bad, to be honest. I think this will probably change in the future because right now it's still a sleeper IMO. What I like about this model is that there is currently no watch that reminds me of it when I put it on. It's so elegant and modern it's hard to describe. The bracelet is out of this world!

    They speak about "innovation" while they use the same movements, same dials and same cases, one or two exceptions here and there... But today in the times where everyone wants to different, it's easy to fool them. Robert Retford, Paul Newman and so many others, weren't different because of they're watch was unique, they were different because of they're achievements!!! I would never wear a red dial watch, it's hideous...

  • @davidjb3671

    @davidjb3671

    On Watchbase I count 28 current or recent Moser movements - all developed in-house with one or two exceptions, That's far more than Rolex and probably only exceeded by Patek and JLC. The sheer genius and quality of their Perpetual and 1,027 year Moonphase complications is amazing. Their dual concentric wheel big-date mechanism is clever but subtle, and obviates the need for a hideous cyclops like on some inferior brands. And virtually every single component except the jewels is made by Moser themselves. They even make their own unique Straumann hairsprings. Compared to Moser most of the rest of the Swiss watch industry are like amateurs.

  • @user-fi5fr9us2t

    @user-fi5fr9us2t

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@davidjb3671 I doubt they have 28 different movements, a date or no date doesn't make two different movements, just a removal of the date wheel! Second, the perpetual is not really a perpetual, since it only displays date and month, so as per perpetual calendar "definitions" it should also display a day, and the leap year complication on the front so it can all be readable at a glance! Don't even try to compare Moser to Rolex, since the amount of faulty and unfuncional watches that Moser used to produce, are uncomparable to the rugged tank built and reliable Rolex.But I also add, that Moser is a dress watch brand not a tool watch brand, so apples and oranges! But to each his own, If you like it buy it and wear it,To me they are just hideous colorful dials for grownup insecure kids who need colors to be seen... I mean seriously, you really believe a real serious, secure gentlemen, would wear a red, purple, turquoise watch? Come on man!!! To me a watch that doesn't have a minute track is useless, since if I have to guess the minutes, the timepiece is irrelevant. Good luck with the brand...

    @@user-fi5fr9us2t Your view on the colours and styles of Moser is based on your own aesthetic sense and I won't comment further, except to say that I don't like ALL Moser watches just as I doubt anyone likes ALL Rolexes or ALL Pateks etc. However I like enough of them to want to collect the ones I do. But where on earth does anyone say that a Perpetual calendar watch has to show the day and leap year on the dial? Quoting Wikipedia: "In watchmaking, "perpetual calendar" describes a calendar mechanism that correctly displays the date on the watch 'perpetually', taking into account the different lengths of the months as well as leap years." If you need a watch to tell you the day of the week then you may be suffering mental confusion or memory problems, and the leap year is on the back if you really need to know it. Personally I only think about the leap year once every 4 years. And considering all the weird and wacky dials and unreadable skeletons out there, telling the time on a Moser Purity or Concept dial to within + or - 1 minute is a breeze for pretty much anyone over the age of 5. If I really want a watch to know the exact time I'll get a quartz digital, but I don't so I won't. Anyway, before criticizing Moser for lack of innovation or variety in the movements and dials (your original point) you might actually want to take a look at their full range of watches which contains more variety than most brands 10 or even 100 times the size. If you don't like the style and colours that's fine, but the facts about the movements are there for everyone there to see.

    @@davidjb3671 Well, first advise is to let go of Wikipedia, and start reading horological books! As per JLC, IWC, ALS, VC, PP, and the list goes on, a Perpetual Calendar Watch displays day, date, month, leap year, moon-phase, and even the year, on the same dial! I think you need to address this issue with Wikipedia! Second if you need to guess the minutes why would you want to wear something on your wrist? Last time I checked, this things were called TImepices? I went to the Moser site, and at the "movements" category I saw seven movements so not twenty-eight, that might be Lange, Also if you listen to the interview MR. Meylan clearly states that some movements are outsourced mot In-house! So back to square one, close Wikipedia, study, study, study And while it's awesome to be a brand fanboy, one needs to know the facts! So as far as I'm concerned, I like their movement architecture, but the rest is a one trick pony, but as long as they have people who want to emphises they're Cohones with bright color and not unique personality, Moser will find enough suckers for sure. On the secondary market dough, 35 cents to a dollar... Good luck on your journey!

    @@user-fi5fr9us2t So you managed to name some well known watch companies who make Perpetual movements, but do they all show the day and leap year status on the dial? No. And show me any quotation from a reputable horological source which defines a Perpetual this way. Put up or shut up, but I won't be holding my breath. And as to your original point about lack of innovation at Moser, I believe it's self evident that your argument is facile. Go ahead and do YOUR research, but I have better things to do and will not be responding further. So please take this opportunity to have the last word and use it to dig your hole even deeper.
