Here's to my late mommy. My best friend, the amazon warrior that cared for me and worried about me since my birth to her passing. The very best woman I've ever met, the person I loved most and will continue to love until my last breath and even beyond. And to all of us here that had someone special that already left this world and went back to the "upper floor". Cheers to us all, to our loved ones who were called back home. May God or anyone up there be caring for the souls of our loved ones. Now...let us listen to this one more time, to remember them fondly and to keep honoring them while our time doesn't come. 🍻🥂🖤❤

At 10:20 am. On 12/06/2021, my grandfather, Louis bloom, passed away. When I found out, I was practically numb to it. But my dad invited me over to talk about him. We shared a drink or 2, and he toasted saying “here’s to us, and those like us.” I replied with the response “damn few of em left.” And we both just broke down crying. Once we composed ourselves, I put on this exact video and we just sat in silence, listening to it. During the last chorus, we both raised our glasses silently to Louis bloom, our fallen comrade. He put up one hell of a fight, and he went down swinging. God rest his soul.

Lyrics: Of all the money that e'er I had, I spent it in good company And of all the harm that e'er I've done, alas it was to none but me And all I've done for want of wit, to memory now I can't recall So fill to me the parting glass. Goodnight and joy be with you all Of all the comrades that e'er I had, they're sorry for my going away And all the sweethearts that e'er I had They would wish me one more day to stay But since it falls unto my lot that I should rise and you should not I'll gently rise and I'll softly call, "Goodnight and joy be with you all!" A man may drink and not be drunk, a man may fight and not be slain A man may court a pretty girl and perhaps be welcomed back again But since it has so ordered been by a time to rise and a time to fall Come fill to me the parting glass, good night and joy be with you all

"The Parting Glass" is a traditional Scottish and Irish folk song with roots stretching back to at least the 17th century, making its exact origins difficult to pinpoint. It speaks of friendship, farewells, and remembering those who have gone before. The song gained renewed popularity in the mid-20th century through performances and recordings by groups like The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, and remains a cherished part of traditional music sessions. Its timeless melody, simple yet poignant lyrics, and enduring theme of camaraderie continue to make it a beloved classic, often sung at gatherings and celebrations.

This song almost brings me to tears every time I hear it. Partially cause I loved AC 4. But even more so, this was the last song we played in my High School Band at my final concert Senior year. In that band I was lead percussionist, but I also play the bagpipes. My director would occasionally find pieces that featured bagpipes so I could show off my true talent. This was the last song I played with that band. The last time I got to play with my closest friends. It was the perfect good-bye to that school, and my band mates. It was.... such an amazing day, and incredible performance. I could probably write paragraphs and paragraphs about how amazing it was. But I shant. Instead, I'll enjoy the music and cherish those memories.

What I love about the song is that it's made for, and best sung by, the common man. When the heavily "professional" music industry try to cover it, it always feels fake, and the more they try to flourish it, the less beautiful it feels. Yet when some humble good singers sing it without out the razzle, it strikes true and moves our spirit. I've heard a lot of covers online, but TLJ and Co, are one of the few I've heard do it justice.

I kid you not... I heard this song for the first time tonight (about 10 minutes ago) & the first thing I did was search youtube for "The Parting Glass The Longest Johns"...... I was not disappointed.. Utterly beautiful..... - If this was 5-6 months ago, I'd of been in a stream of tears. Thankfully I'm in a much better place now, but the musicality & tones of this piece is astounding.

The last year has been the biggest struggle of my life between my fiance leaving me and some other things I can't mention, but you guys have helped me in so many ways I can't express my gratitude to you all. Bless you all. I don't know where I'd be in my life without this song but I can't imagine it being any better. Godspeed ladies and gentlemen.

in my opinion; it is the most beautiful song to pay homage to a loved one, a friend, a brother in arms, a comrade. for you my Mama, my Papa, my beloved older Sister; gone because of the 1986 disaster. Magnificent interpretation, like a rifle bullet, touches you right in the heart.
