--- LYRICS
Of all the money that e'er I had
I've spent it in good company
And all the harm that e'er I've done
Alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To memory now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all
Of all the comrades that e'er I had
They are sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
They would wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call
Good night and joy be with you all
--- ABOUT
"The Parting Glass" is a Scottish and Irish traditional song, often sung at the end of a gathering of friends. It was allegedly the most popular parting song sung in Scotland before Robert Burns wrote "Auld Lang Syne". The poem was printed as a broadside in the 1770s. The earliest known appearance of the tune today associated with this text is as a fiddle tune called "The Peacock" (1782). This arrangement is inspired by the version of the Wailing Jennies.

Believe it or not, your channel has helped me a lot through the last month. My Mom's been in the hospital, sadly passing of cancer. This is her favorite song. Anyways, thanks for bringing some joy into my life. I posted a small paragraph on your Facebook page as well invade you don't see this rather long one. Thank you, Abbie

I don't think I have any tears left after listening to this for about 10 times in a row. Also this one is more like a hymn than one of these funky hip songs you are so good at. Anyway, it's special. You continue to amaze me with your vocal talent. What a gift you have. You bring joy to my heart and ears. Thank for sharing it with us. If I were on my death bed , listening to you sing would be peace unto heaven. Soncerely Thos von yoder

Didn't like the speed you chose for this one at first but by the end, you won me over! I'm familiar with the Waking Ned Divine movie version. Now I like this version too.
