Traditional, arranged by Carl Crossin - The Parting Glass
Oh all the money that e'er I spent
I spent it in good company
And all the harm that e'er I've done
Alas it was to none but me
And all I've done for want of wit
To mem'ry now I can't recall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all
Oh if I had money enough to spend
And leisure too for to sit awhile
There is a fair maid in the town
That sorely has my heart beguiled
Her rosy cheeks, her ruby lips
I own she has my heart in thrall
So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all
Oh all the comrades that e'er I've had
Are sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I've had
Would wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and I'll softly call
Good night and joy be with you all

Ah this is a beautiful song indeed indeed. The singers have lovely voices but it did nothing for me - the tempo is far too slow, lifeless and maudlin. I have heard many great renditions of the Parting Glass, sadly this is not one of them.

I know this piece inside out having conducted/directed it with small groups (12) and massed choirs (400+) and I must express my dismay that the male section was largely unintelligible due to poor diction and alignment of consonants. The responsibility for that lies with the conductor/musical director. A great shame as I was looking forward to listening.
