The Parable of the Sower (Luke 8:1-15) - A Sermon by R.C. Sproul
When Jesus spoke in parables, some of His hearers gained insights into the kingdom of God while other listeners were left in confusion. In this sermon, R.C. Sproul continues his exposition of Luke’s gospel and reveals the important reason why Christ taught in this way.

“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.” John3:8
Thank you LORD JESUS for predestining RC Sproul to us.🤗🙏
There is NOTHING anyone does to earn their own salvation. It's all because of JESUS CHRIST. This is the TRUE GOSPEL and it is actual GOOD NEWS (GOSPEL) for EVERYONE, and has been right in front of us the ENTIRE TIME!
Praise the Lord thy God Jesus of Nazareth
Good teaching and the truth
FOR AS THE RAIN COMETH DOWN , AND THE SNOW FROM HEAVEN , AND RETURNETH NOT THITHER , BUT WATERETH THE EARTH , AND MAKETH IT BRING FORTH AND BUD , THAT IT MAY GIVE SEED TO THE SOWER , AND BREAD TO THE EATER ; ISAIAH 55 : 10 KJV
Praise the Lord, for His Word is true and builds up His servants. No other word provides the truth that His does.
Amen. Thank you for sharing
I certainly cannot compare myself to any of these great minds. RC had a special way of explaining things and his thoughts that blow my mind at times...but at the end when he said "some call this the parable of the soil." It immediately hit me...if it wasnt for the seed the soil could do nothing...then as I pondered deeper...if the Sower hadn't went out to begin with...nothing would happen. So I feel Jesus had it right from the time it came from His mouth. I guess the point being...the greatest of minds cannot contend with The Word of The Living God. As Sproul said..."Some" call this...
All the seed is saved except the first once saved always saved free grace theology is correct
Random Calvinism aside, this was illuminating.
And what about circumstances of life that lead people to believe? So, beside the quality of the soil there are circumstañces that effect the choice
1 Timothy 2:4, KJV - Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth (this is GOD'S WIILL! - EVERYONE!)
Fascinating insight about the good soil not being inherently good. If the opposite was true …
The "falling away/apostasy." refers to the church, not the world because they have already been in a fallen state... Since much of the church will believe satan as antichrist, they will follow him, "worship" him, believing he is the real messiah... And believe his lying signs and wonders.. He's not correct in that...
ALL KNEES WILL BOW AND CONFESS AND SWEAR AN ALLEGIENCE TO GOD (THAT'S EVERYONE)!!!!! Romans 14:11
What a shame😢. RC was so brilliant yet misses this parable because of his theology. The wayside, can't hear God's Word, rocky ground BELIEVERS that like it says, no root and dies and bears no fruit, thorns, BELIEVERS that care for the world and can't grow because they aren't discipled and/or don't learn the Word, good soil, BELIEVERS who receive good discipleship and learn the Word and vring forth much fruit.
