"The Mission of the Seventy-Two" Kind belated Sir...i read all the verses in "Luke 10". With several different bible versions. Then I listened to see what you said... And Sir, you did keep in stride with what Luke wrote; to the letter. Now the Christian World would be happy to hear that! As the whole Christian World; LOVES it when any one quotes ANY verse in their Bible. "Because it is INSPIRED By God. And 100% Inerrant and Infallible"! Even when they quote two verses that contradicts the other! IE: you Sir said, that in one translation it said "72"; and yet another translation it was "70"! Now I ask the Christian World this? Do you really: believe that was inspired by God; where both translator's are the SAME numbers? Huh? Well Paul believed it to the "Nth" degree apparently; like 99.9999999% of All Christians. And He even wrote a verse to prove it in...2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: So the 72 vs the 70 is inspired by God! And the two numbers are "one and the same"! Huh? For that is what the "Christian World" is saying! Now consider this in...(Matthew 1:1) He said Jesus was the "Son of David". But Jesus (before Matthew could write his book); said he was NOT the Son of David; in NO uncertain terms in... John 8:58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. (And) Matthew 22:45 So, If David then call Jesus Lord how is he his son? Now: do you STILL really believe; that God would inspired what Jesus said vs what Matthew said; was exactly the same? Huh? And these "bold contradictions" are all over Gen To Rev; in EVERY version of bibles: ever published. Huh? Believed it or not! Huh? End of Story and I rest me case... ...In any case kind belated Sir, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

since The "two" (DUO) of seventy two and the two of "two by two" (ANA DUO) is the same Greek word, and parablebsis on the part of a scribe could have allowed the DUO at the end or beginning of one line to creep into the line before it, thus inflating the text and creating a scribal error by changing the seventy to seventy two. with that being said, both numbers have good textual support. Commentators usually favor one or the other because of why they believe Jesus may have selected 70 or 72 since the textual evidence is so equal. however, I do think that we have evidence from the early church fathers to suggest that 70 is the correct reading. it is mentioned by Eusebius: Church History from A.D. 1-324, Life of Constantine the Great, Oration in Praise of Constantine Book I (see Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, Series 2, Volume 1, page 98, footnote 8) And the number 70 is even mentioned much much earlier by tatian, in his Diatessaron, which he wrote in approximately the year 170 A.D. (Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, Series 1, Volume 3, page 506, footnote 6) whatever the case may be, The reality is that the New Testaments are historical documents with firm textual support despite variants, and no Christian Doctrine is affected by the variance found in the New Testament.

also, the fact that Jesus existed before Abraham, and that he is called the son of David in Matthew 1:1 just serves to illustrate the Hypostatic Union. The apostle Paul says in Romans 1:3, “Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh,” … Etc. Here, in VV 3-4, Paul presents the leading figure of the gospel. Jesus Christ, always the Son of God, became a man as the seed of David and so was and continues to be God and man in two distinct natures, yet one person. See also Romans 9:5.

You do understand that it is the originals that are infallible, right? Yes there are variants in the mss but none affect doctrine or morality. This is s great case in point. 70 or 72? Who cares

Why are the gospels so ignored in the preaching of so many evangelical churches? Because they are categorical. The words of Jesus cannot be side-stepped. "Your names are written in heaven." By grace. Alone.

As a Christian I have sin which I struggle with daily, at what point does the higher decree of sin does God refuse forgiveness of my transgressions? I accepted him in 1975 can or will he remove my name off the Book of Life? My continued torment is wrestling am I in the Book especially when I struggle with my imperfections of sin. Just believing in Jesus and crucified for the world is that enough isn’t there working to be done, like RC? What’s enough? I’m a plumber with very little education and can’t understand the depth of many who go to college who learn Greek and Hebrew interpretations of the Bible. What’s enough since faith and works? Since many teachers say my faith is dead w/o works? Does God allow for those with minimal intellect to be chosen over someone like RC or MacArthur? It’s very frustrating reading the Bible not knowing if I’m interpreting it correctly. Being a blue collar laborer by trade it having all day studying like these men of God put’s most at a disadvantage. I sure hope I’m chosen and my name is on the register of life!

Paul cuts to the very heart of what it means to be a Christian: “Even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by works of the law.” Paul is citing the greatest of all the promises of God. He promises to pardon the sins of all who truly believe in Jesus Christ alone for salvation, freeing them from all guilt, and to impute to them the perfect righteousness of Christ as a covering for all their remaining infirmities and indwelling sin. As justified people, they are righteous in Christ before God and heirs of eternal life. This doctrine is as old as the Bible. Abram “believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness” (Gen. 15:6). David declares: “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity” (Ps. 32:1-2). Isaiah records God’s promise that “By his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many, for he shall bear their iniquities” (Isa. 53:11). And God’s Word to Habakkuk is “The just shall live by faith” (Hab. 2:4). Preaching to the Jews of Antioch, Paul proclaims Jesus as the Son of God, crucified, dead, and buried, but raised from the dead by God as Israel’s Savior in fulfillment of the promise made to their fathers: “Through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: and by him, all that believe are justified from all things, from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses” (Acts 13:38,39). Justification is the free gift of God to all who believe in Jesus Christ as the only Savior, finding in Him all things necessary for their salvation. It asks nothing from us but faith, it extends to every sin except the sin of unbelief, and it depends entirely upon who Christ is and what He has done, and on nothing at all in us. lastly, when James says that faith without works is dead, he is not at all contradicting the teachings of the apostle Paul in Rom 1:16-17; 3:22-28; 4:5; 10:9-10; Eph 2:8-9. He is giving the opposite side of the same truth. He is showing that true faith and good works are inseparable - so united that what can be said of one may be said of both together. He is teaching what Paul himself taught in Rom 2:7-10; Gal 5:6; Eph 2:10; Titus 2:14. And what the Lord Jesus taught in Matt 7:21, 24-27; 25:35-43, namely, that a person who is truly born again, who has true faith would do good works as a result of God‘s grace. James is emphasizing the vindication before others of a person’s claim to salvation, our works are not meant to show God that we are saved, since He needs no better view from His judgment seat. hope that helps in someway, may the Lord bless you.

Hey fellow plumber. Preach the Gospel to yourself everyday, even moment by moment. Meditate on the FACT that you can never ‘merit ‘ your acceptance with God. If you were reconciled with God, it is because of the merits of Jesus Christ alone. It’s a good sign that you are struggling with sin, reprobates don’t have that issue. Perseverance, brother.

The word, hell, is not in the Bible at all! That is, it is not in the original Hebrew and Greek texts. Not one of the men who wrote the 66 books of the Bible ever used the word, hell, or any other word that means what hell means. The word, Hell, has been added to our Bibles over the years by various translators!

From the original Greek text of the NT.. 9th word of Luke 10:1 - ΕΒΔΟΜΗΚΟΝΤΑ (seventy) 10th word of Luke 10:1 - ΔΥΟ (two) "Man shall not live by bread alone, but upon every word that proceeds out through the mouth of God." Matthew 4:4 How do you live upon "Every" word of God, if Man decided to remove one? "Heaven and Earth will pass away, however My words will not pass away" Luke 21:33 "ALL scripture is God-breathed" 2 Timothy 3:16 No variant in the original text. From Adam to Jesus is 72 generations. God choose the numbers in His Word specifically and they have meaning. (e.g. dash the blood on the alter "7" times (7=perfection), 40 days and 40 nights, 40 days of fasting (40=testing period). In the OT, the phrase, from God, "I will be" appears 37 times. In the NT, Jesus said, "I Am..." exactly 37 times. 37 is the 12th prime number. 12 is the God's number for divine order and government (e.g. 12 tribes, 12 disciples, 12 months, etc.). "because a Child has been born to us A Son has been given to us and the Government is on His shoulder" Isaiah 9:6 The entire value of this portion of Isaiah 9:6 has the numerical value of 2,279. The 22nd prime is 79. The 22nd letter of the Hebrew alphabet is the last. Jesus said He is the first And the last. (1st and 22nd) Jesus' name in Greek "ΙΗΣΟΥΣ" has a value of 888. Genesis "1" (First chapter) has 434 words. Revelation "22" (Last chapter) has 454 words. 434+454=888 "If he should set his heart to it and gather to himself his spirit and his breath, all flesh would perish together, and man would return to dust." Job 34:14-15 341,415 (341+415=756) 756 ("12"• "3•7•3") John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word..." Word in Greek (ΛΟΓΟΣ)=373 The air you breathe is made up of "8" protons, "8" neutrons, and "8" electrons. Not just an interesting coincidence. God is the perfect Creator and Father and the fullness of heaven and Earth are His and His math is impeccable, as He is the author of numbers...as well as the Book of Numbers. Dig in to His Word WITH the guidance of The Holy Spirit and listen to Him. "Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is but breath. Of what account is he?" Isaiah 2:22 🕊️
