In this video I remove paint from a thrift store table to reveal beautiful wood underneath.

I recognized the table, and then i looked at the older videos. I guess that means I'm a real fan. Always a pleasure to watch.

same here! but i had a good time rewatching it anyway.
I'm not even into furniture, but damn this thing's wood is gorgeous! Reminds me of the really old church benches I saw at church as a kid. They too had gorgeous wood.
Best $5 spent. You did a great job.
I love those old little end tables. They're actually really functional today as charging stations. Fantastic work...
I really like how you talk us through the project, that's how we learn, thanks.
Always an inspiration!

Thank you!
My grandma had one of those! They're so pretty when they're taken care of ❤️
Beautiful restoration! Another piece saved from the landfill!
I’m pretty sure my late grandmother had a pair of similar tables at the sides of her living room couch. Thank you for the trip down memory lane. Your restoration is beautiful. You have a very deft touch for painting details like the little dark stain.
Love these old telephone tables, rarely find them now, you’d sit on the seat and the telephone sat on the higher table with the phone directory underneath. Memories.

This one can’t be sat upon. It’s too low and can’t handle the weight. It’s just an end table.
Okay, had a look through the comments... I THOUGHT I'd seen this one before! Doesn't matter, the "rerun" is still fun to watch. :)
I enjoyed seeing you work on this in the first video, and enjoyed this version too. It really came up well, and so much better than when you found it.
Hi, The table looks sharp. Really nice job. And a hell of a bargain at $5.00. I find it fascinating and fun to watch when you bring out your paints to mask/blend away marks and stains. Thanks
beautiful, mid century is my favorite I have several pieces from my parents that they bought in the 50's
Coming from someone who has had one in their family for over 40 years, those rings are almost definitely black coffee rings. Ours sat between my mom and dad's recliners, and between my dad's mom's recliners as well. It's where my folks and my dad's folks drank their coffee every morning. My dad eventually did what you've done here to ours and it turned out so beautiful. I really do love a solid, old piece of functional furniture ❤
Holy crap. That table looks fantastic. Keep up the great work.
She turned out GORGEOUS! Even better than I thought she would! Beautiful stain color as well!
Absolutely lovely! My family had two walnut mid-century step-tables; a side step-table (similar to yours) and a square corner step-table when I was growing up. I remember them well and fondly. In fact, I wish I still had them, except due to their size, they took up a fair amount of room in the small living room we had. You've done a great job!
Cant go wrong with a nice bit of walnut.
Definitely a diamond in hiding. Looks like it was painted to fit into a specific furniture style. Beautiful rework and return to former glory. Thanks for sharing.

Seems like it was painted to go in a child's bedroom / playroom? I kind of like the paint, but what a waste to put it over a nice walnut piece.
Those "step" end tables were hugely popular during the mid-20th century, and I'm surprised that they never made a large-scale comeback. Aside from the overall popularity of midcentury design, the tables themselves were extremely practical (the upper surface was for a lamp, and that freed the lower surface for drinks, books, magazines, and other household items). My grandparents had a set of them from the 1950s (with a matching coffee table) that were teak, with beautiful glass insert that would look great today in a mid-century style living room.
Happy Sunday!

Thank you.
Looks a hell of a lot better than it did with the paint, great job 👍👍👍👍👍
What a transformation for a $5 table! And great tips - ones I'll likely use for the stubborn paint in the grain of the project I'm working on. Thank you for sharing!
Aw Dash it's beautiful. What a great job as always. It's always a pleasure when you upload. Thank you for sharing.
That table is beautiful. Reminds me of those that were in my grandparent's house when I was a little kid. Fantastic job!
My mother had to end tables like that which were her pride and joy. Great job returning them to a usable and attractive state.
One word…WOW.😮😊
Gorgeous piece!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. ❤
Loved this. I know you’ve done pieces like this before in the past, but they turn out just so darn pretty.
The finished product looks amazing.
Well worth the $5 you shelled out for it. It turned out beautifully and looks better than a factory finish. I think the thing I don't like about typical MCM furniture is that the manufacturers seem to use a lot of toners to make the different timbers look the same. This inevitably obscures the grain and, in my personal opinion, can make the furniture look bland. Whenever people like you, Angie, Barry, etc, refinish this type of furniture, you usually end up bringing out the grain rather than covering it, resulting in some really beautiful and more interesting pieces.

Wow. Your attention to detail is great. What a difference. 😍
I really admire your work. the way you care about the wood is wonderful and the detail you put into every piece without giving up is perfect. You are my type of person. Congratulations.
That is an elegant upgrade from the paint. It looks lovely.
I think you did an awesome job. I love the stain you chose as well. It does bring out the grain in the wood. Perfect job. I use to own a couple of these night stands but didn’t look anything like this…
I’m so glad you took a chance on this piece - it turned out beautifully! That’s exactly the type of piece I wanted in my living room, but ended up settling for a slightly older, but still nice, piece with a leather top. I did have a family piece (same style) that was blonde….. I do like light furniture, but the blonde was just too artificially light for my tastes.
A good looking Midcentury step table. One of the classics. Well worth $5.00 with a lot of Dashner’s love. Carol from California
Gorgeous!! I love that wood color and grain!
Turned out great! Really love the finish
Great video! I just stripped a mid-century hallway bench and posted a video. Love giving old furniture new lifw 🙏🏻
Love this style table. It looks so much better with paint removed
I love how the shots are framed at the end on the cracked concrete. All those diagonal lines together are pretty.
Thanks for sharing your experience. Love the piece
This is a really cool and unique piece. Thank you for sharing this. ❤

My parents and grandparents had a set of these two tiered tables. Ah, flashbacks. Yours is definitely a much better look than the faux wood grain that was on ours.
