Cariyes have lots of types and most of them were working on palace affairs but there were a special group of Cariyes that known as staying at Harem. Harem was a type of institution to educate Cariyes art, moralty, religionous lore and more. They had superiors among them who did succesfully finished their education and can marry with the Sultan if they want. Sultan himself could not see the Cariyes educated at Harem, they could see Cariyes only if there is a manner to mention and etc. So please next time get more information before speaking about.

Every single established sheikh who has studied Islam inside out would laugh at you. Cariyes were still sexual concubines, most of which were purchased in the sex slave markets. She would have had to obey and submit sexually to her master as if he was a husband. You can romanticise it all you want. I doubt you’d want that for your women and for yourself. In Islam, a man is limited to 4 wives, but no limit under shariah was ever put into place in regards to sex slaves.

There is a lot of evidence of the forceful assimilation, Islamisation and massacred of the Balkan people. From the POV of my country called Turkisation and debulgarization, which lasted even till 20th century. I will never say Islam is bad or whatever, i know the Ottomans represented the Ottoman Empire, not Islam. Also i dont hold a modern grudge against Turkey and Turkish people nowadays. I was nationalistic as a teenager, not anymore i outgrew this, people should as well. It's very nice story. One of the descendants of Velyko Feriz Pasha was the leader of all Muslims in Sanjak fighting for Hitler called Husein Rovcanin(Even left the tribename (ROVCAN) in his lastname. We have all documents qnd writings for the whole time of the Ottoman rule on who became and took Islam to who was born since the year 1550. We are proud to have Muslims within our Serbian race who are descendants of the warrior Jannisarys but I'm afraid our Muslim brothers today who are of our blood tend to say they are not one of us.

I think its mostly due to the Yugoslav wars. It left a bad taste in everyone's mouths. And it's probably why most of the balkans will never be able to unite properly. Alot of genocide, ethnic cleansing and overall killing took place here. With no ottomans to keep the peace in the Balkans the Europeans and Americans simply made this place a battle field.

Wrong and absurd. 1.Earlier Ottoman sultans always married with noble families from Christian or muslim dynasties till battle of ankara againist Timur. After the battle, timur raped and humiliated Sultan Bayezid's serbian noble wife in front of him. After that event they did not marry with any women neither noble nor peasant. They preferred odalisques. But there is exceptions too. For instance Suleiman the magnificent married with an ukrainian slave girl "Hurrem". 2. Janissaries were not recruited for out of trust to muslim population. Janissaries were guards and they were only 10% of the army during the heydays of Ottoman Empire. They recruited because Ottomans wanted use the huge human resource in balkans. 3. After 1700 Ottomans were always in defensive position. So they did not wage 500 years of continuos War. They couldnt. Because Ottoman Empire lived 600 years. 1299-1922.

Ottomans in return of jizya tax did not even interfered Christians' affairs. Ofcourse i'm not saying you lived Best of your life but life of a Balkan Christian in 16th century was excessively better than a muslim in iberia. There are Good and bad rulers(SULTANS) in every Empire, and the Ottoman Empire is no exception. Even tho the sheikh here mixed a lot of lies with the truth. However, as a non-Arab, non-Turk, I would still thank each and every single Turk who defended Islam for 600 years, safe guarded AL-QUDS, I thank the Turks who defeated the Mongols and saved Islam(by idhnillah), I thank the Turks for destroying the Romans and the Byzantines. As a student of knowledge who studied in three Arabic speaking Islamic countries I learned many things with learned Muslim scholars and one thing that every teacher taught us was how to become a person who could discriminate between a scholar and an ignorant person posing as a scholar, and this man is definitely not a scholar, I guarantee if he was ask to give a talk about the school of Imam Abu Hanefa he couldn’t rather he try to wing it talking about a whole lot of nothing only mesmerising other unlearned people who think that his words have wisdom but in fact his words leads one to ignore the personal obligatory knowledge of the religion that every accountable Muslim must know. The messenger of Allah said “ seeking and learning the personal obligatory knowledge of Islam is an obligation for every accountable Muslim”

Did they become government officials? Did they become the mothers of the British rulers? No they were massacared,tortured, and forced to Christianity. And other colonial powers too. Those Christian boys became the elite units of the Ottoman army, military officers and generals, high ranking government officials, and even the Grand Viziers of the Empire (Second in power in the Empire after the Sultan). Did British,French,Italians, and Belgians let Africans or Indians become high ranking government officials? Become prime ministers? No, offcourse not. Let me just give you a fact: 95% or more of Ottoman Sultans mothers were from balkans. They came as concubines and became the mothers of the Sultans called Valide and they had a strong position and they were respected. Rum ended(1308) a few years after the ottoman empire was born(1299)back when the ottomans controlled only a few cities in bathinia The Christian women stable part came during suleiman the magnificent reign over 200 years after the ottoman state was born and all of the sultans before that had wives even if there were more than 1 and it ended during the 19th century so the "they never married" part is false The practice of taking Christian boy in the end of the 16th century when muslims were allowed to join
