Same here, the game just doesn't serve it's expanded media enough

The only reason I'm a merchant is because the voyages are easy and the cosmetics look amazing.

It's nice that you don't have to limit yourself to animal, and the much more dangerous gunpowder trade. I myself was able to fully reach level 75 on cargo runs and lost shipments alone, not to mention a rather large fortune on the assorted small objects from islands, and treasuries.

I’m excited to see the Merchant Golden Sands expansion.

I want to say, I have a lot of pride invested into the MA. As a beta release player I had to pick a faction to love. I picked the Merchant's. "We are the Merchant's Alliance. We stock the taverns, clothier's, and armorer's of the Sea of Thieves. It is us who keep the Gold Hoarder's ships afloat, the Madame's of the Order in good health after their trails into the minds of forgotten and ruthless souls. They ignored the wisdom of our founder in her time under their flag, the GMU did. They think we are fooled, "the Sovereign's", BAH! I will fly the colors of regality for the day they try to sail their War Galleons through our routes. On that day I will cherish teaching them why my brig is the "Sovereign's Folly". Till that day I will grin at their porcelain representatives, hiding my distain. The Reaper's.... pirates will pirate, some against their better interest. The GMU though, I can only hope the Order and Ramsey listen to Mollie about their plans. I can only hope the Reaper's pause to consider a mutual understanding, Millie's stubbornness be damned..." - A loyal, overly contemplative captain for the Merchant Alliance.

Ngl, I was not expecting Mollie of all people to have such a legitimately badass origin story, but I guess even a trader has to be tough to make it on the Sea of Thieves!

I always thought the merchant alliance had a peaceful beginning since it’s the most peaceful of the factions (commodity runs, crates of supplies instead of piles of gold or skulls, etc). Turns out I was wrong and that it started through a mutiny 😅

I love this comic. Molly is great and really fought for what she has. The scene with the female pirates fighting really inspired her to love the sea of thieves and it's freedom. Seeing what she always secretly wanted and being a true equal to others because the culture of the sea of thieves doesn't care about race or gender. Wish the game had all this lore :(

It's easy to raise the Reaper's Flag in the name of Gold. The Runner's Bones shall flee for all eternity. But it takes proper *_resolve_* to raise Merchant Emissary. A Merchant is _dedicated_ to seeing their cargo reach its destination, and damn all who stand in their way.

"Demons run when a good man go to war". I love the merchant cosmetics myself and i've struggled a lot getting the company to level 50 and eventually 75 back in the days and i've had enough with PvE and mischievous pirates. Nowadays after about a thousand hours in this game i converted myself to PvP only and still rock my ambassador merchant ship set despite having other more exquisite and rare cosmetics. I hunt every ship that comes across my way. Currently, i own the ghost curse and working my way up in the servants to get the skelly curse, nonetheless i keep my ship and pirate dressed as a merchant as a tribute to my humble begginings and i know many fellow merchants that can relate to this story. Don't you dare to touch my chickens.

Can't wait for Reaper's Bones' story to be told...

There is a new male member of the Merchant Alliance. His name is Marley. He replaced Meg at Galleon’s Grave.

I wish they gave us more trader clothing instead of only having an outfit, monocle and small parts of the outfit. Maybe in future emissary rewards.🤷‍♂️

@@AShinyRay Like, I kind of get why, but at the same time, I feel her approach will only cause her further issues by depriving herself of potential loyal allies. It would be better if she had used a “We come from all backgrounds and walks of life” approach by trying to make the most out of everyone’s specialties.

i have a feeling that the game will eventually start covering more gmu based storylines, and when it does the merchants will finally get their spot light.

What I like about the merchants now is consistency and relative safety. Most merchant goods outside of the rare crates like spices and tea are worthless to other crews, whereas every pirate wants a skull or chest. And cargo of silk or rum is going to be worth the same every time unless it's damaged. There's no relying on rng. A rank 5 emissary can make hundreds of thousands of gold a session on cargo runs and commodity trading alone without much fear of losing it in a battle because it's only worth money to you. It's good work and I'm glad it's gotten the most love and attention from rare out of all the factions since year one.

It may not be the most exciting of jobs, but someone has to do it. Plus its honest work. (as honest as pirates can be)

Well I didn't like Molly before I knew this story, and I like her even less now that I do. Thanks for the lore video though, I'm looking forward to the next one.

i think only the senior traders are female, junior traders are the ones who sail the cargo (and sometimes we need to find their sunken ships) can be both genders, the reason that molly knows what manpower can do but let woman into charge since they are more patient (except mindy)

I hate Molly “Are you scared? You should be” Woman! I am literally fighting people who transcend the vail of this mortal plain of existence! These people could be classified as demi Gods! I think one of them even is. If you think for one second I’m scared of a glorified mail agency that’s only surviving because ghost daddy won’t let us be legends without it, you are going to have a vary rude awakening when that new merchant shack opens up!

the only thing i don’t understand is, how does the merchant alliance make a profit?

I always imagined the merchants were more, well, professional? But this just sounds like Mollie has a chip on her shoulder, and isn't very noble either.

It seems like all the useful people in the story are dark women that don't need no man. Good thing the game is good.
