The ORIGINAL Founding Titan EXPLAINED! | Attack on Titan | The Life of Ymir Fritz

Ойын-сауық

This video explains the life of Ymir Fritz, who was the FIRST Titan in Attack on Titan. She is the direct ancestor of those with royal blood, such as Zeke Yaeger & Historia. This video will explain how she really acquired this power of the titans and the full extent of her founding titan abilities. Her bloodline was spread far and wide, so now all present day eldians are referred to as "subjects of Ymir".

Video Info:
In the mythology of Attack on titan, Ymir is believed by most people to have made a deal with the devil to inherit her titan powers, but the reality is much different. Ymir was born in an unnamed village around 2000 years before the start of Attack on Titan. During her childhood, Ymir’s village was conquered by a tribe known as the Eldians and at this time the king of the Eldians was a guy named Fritz. The eldian tribe was relatively small during this period, so Fritz would grow his tribe by enslaving people from the villages they conquered. In her early life she did not possess the power of the titans and so she was powerless to fight back against the oppression of the Eldian tribe. In season 3, Freida Reiss who was Ymir’s direct descendant, described Ymir as someone who was kind and always thinking of others. This kindness is no doubt what lead Ymir to one day open the gate of the pig pen, allowing one pig to escape in the process. After getting blamed, King Fritz declared that Ymir was now free and she was sent into the woods, where the eldian soldiers hunted her for sport. They chased Ymir as if she was a wild animal, and their arrows pierced her in the leg and shoulder. As she continued to stumble through the forrest Ymir came across an incredible looking tree (possibly the tree of yggdrasil?). In this tree was a pond, and Ymir was submerged underwater as she fell into it. As she began to run out of air, a mysterious entity appeared and latched itself onto Ymir’s spine. In the future, this entity would be referred to by Eren Krueger as “the source of all living matter”.
After making contact with this thing, Ymir was instantly turned into the first ever titan shifter, otherwise known as the Founding Titan. Judging by the way she towered over the trees, the original founding titan was even bigger than Bertholt’s colossal titan. Her titan ribs are also permanently sticking out, which is a feature unique to the founding titan but as we saw from Freida Reiss, not every founding titan has this feature. Because of Ymir’s subservient personality, she did not use her powers to get revenge on the Eldian tribe, but instead she remained a slave for King Fritz, despite him setting her free. Fritz then utilised her power to start growing the Eldian tribe into the Eldian empire, as her titan would effortlessly crush other nations in battle. The country of Marley was one of Ymir’s victims. While Ymir would use the brute force of her founding titan to destroy Eldia’s enemies, she would not have been able to use ALL the abilities of the founding titan at this time. That’s because things like titan creation and memory manipulation only work when used on the subjects of Ymir and at this time there were no subjects of Ymir. Normal people are unaffected by the founding titans abilities and so she wouldn’t have been able to turn people into titans or do all the other cool stuff which future founders were able to do. Going back to Ymir, 13 years had passed since she’d acquired the power of her titan and in that time the Eldian empire had grown incredibly wealthy. On the final day of her life, a rogue soldier in the eldian military attempted to assassinate king Fritz, but Ymir herself jumped infront of the spear to protect her husband and was killed as a result. She must’ve been injured too severely for her titan healing to kick in. Fritz was desperate to not let the power of the titan die out and so ordered his three daughters to consume Ymir, in the hope that they’d also become titan shiftERS. After consuming Ymir, the power of Ymir’s founding titan was split among the three children, and this division would continue until there were 9 titan shifters in total. Fritz had ordered his daughters to not let the blood of Ymir die out as he wanted Eldia to rule the world with titans and this is something that did end up happening.

we know a titan shifter needs a will to live in order to heal and transform, this is one of the reasons eren didnt immediate transform when he was first eaten by the beard titan, he only transformed after seeing his fellow comrades dead inside its stomach, it also explains why titan shifters dont just transform from accidentally cutting themselves or hurting themselves. another example being reiner not fully transforming to fight eren this season because while he had the will to protect gabi and falco it wasnt enough for him to completely change or how eren was undercover as a amputee in marley for months and we dont see his leg actively healing its more of a choice ymir chose to die because she was tired of serving the king

Hear me out , Fritz was a man most strongly characterized by his limitless hunger for power and control. His ultimate goal had been world domination, and he was willing to accomplish that goal post-death. He viewed both his family and his people as an extension of himself, declaring that so long as Eldia ruled the world, the world was "his . when Ymir gained the power of the Titans, he used her to slaughter the Marleyans and gain power for himself. He viewed himself very highly and saw Ymir bearing his children as a "reward" for everything she had done to increase Eldia's empire. After Ymir took a spear for him, instead of thanking her when she was near death, he responded by ordering her to get back up and continue working as his slave, stating that was her only purpose in life. Instead of giving her a burial upon her death, he had his daughters eat her corpse to have them gain her power. All this , BEGAN CAUSE OF THIS MAD KING . As further examples of his seemingly-limitless cruelty, during his time as a chieftain, he had his tribe slaughter and raid villages, taking the survivors for slaves. He had no qualms about disfiguring, muting, and partially blinding his slaves, willing to gouge out an eye from every slave if someone did not confess to a simple crime of freeing a pig. When Ymir was accused of this crime, he punished her by having her hunted for sport . On top of that , he abused Ymir . She was a slave of the Eldian king, who abused her power to bring prosperity to Eldia while devastating Marley and the rest of the world. Thirteen years after awakening her power, she died protecting the king; her corpse was then forcibly cannibalized by their daughters, Maria, Rose, and Sheena . HE SHOULD BE THE MOST HATED CHARACTER , INSTEAD. BUT , NOBODY SEEMS TO CARE .

This is too easy, easy to blame it on 1 guy who is bad and evil without looking at their past and experiences. Fritz wanted limitless power and domination because his family was ruined by those before him. He could remember his father dieing valiantly in battle for nothing because it was his own people who surrendered. he could remember his mother being raped over and over again. He swore to himself to take power for himself to subjugate everyone and never to trust anyone and to suffer again. But as he grew in power he became blind to the suffering of others. As he thought for himself, he thought less of others. he made all the enemies pay in blood for what they did to them and built a kingdom for himself while ignoring the suffering of those he deemed evil.

Both were enslaved, woke up in the Realm after ‘dying’, and got a second chance at life. I don't believe that to be the case, Ymir took care of a whole nation that wasn't even fond of her, you think she would have just abandoned 3 children that she may have loved and were probably the only people that loved her back?, specially because of how the king treated her and knew they were gonna be treated if she died. It was most likely a mistake Ymir made what caused her death. Reiner stated that if you cut the spinal cord at the base of the neck before they can signal their body to turn into a titan, they can be killed. It is likely that Ymir was just attempting to block the spear, pull it out and heal, but as fate may have it, the spear went through her and cut off her spinal cord. At that moment she had no intentions to turn into a titan, so that didn't saved her, and with her head effectively disconnected from the body, she was unable to heal as a human.

It's bittersweet because in the end our current Eren and Eren who has experienced all of these things will disappear. In exchange his "past" self will get a chance to live his life with true freedom. Before the older Eren perished, he visited his past self who might have a better future. No more walls, no more oppressions, no more living in fear. Well-- it's not just current Eren who will be gone, everyone we know on AoT will be a different person altogether, there also chances of people not being born at all. I truly anticipate the ending, I want to know what's his actual plan, he keeps surprising me in every chapters.

My theory is, she die because she “have no will to live” because she was HEARTBROKEN. She wants to be loved, and of course by the King Fritz. But, the king only see her as a slave. In chapter 122, Frieda says “the world is cruel, that’s why you should live as someone everybody LOVES” (the first scene Ymir appears where she watching people get married) (after Ymir get stabbed by spear, there’s a close scene where’s Ymir look King Fritz in the eyes. But the king says “ what’re you doing? Get up and Work! I know you didn’t die by spear. The reason you’re born to be a SLAVE, YMIR”) and then she die. In chapter 137, Zeke says she could DISOBEY the king order with her power, but she’s remained in the path, why ? She still feel attached to the world (and the same scene again, where she watching a couple married) Ymir just want to be LOVED.

I've always wondered why she still obeyed the king even after obtaining power that can rule the world. She loved the king unconditionally despite the king's greed and behavior. A victim of toxic love. Because of this love, she blindly obeyed the descendants of her three daughters even after death, believing it to be the same as following the king's orders. When in reality, it was only the result of her unending nightmare of her love for the king. The last chapter, she vanquished the power of the titans because of Mikasa. Mikasa killed her beloved in order to protect something greater, while Ymir protected the one she loved, which resulted in the oppression of the world. Seeing that scene was enough to change her mind, she started wondering what would've happened if she didn't protect the king, maybe it led to a better future. Love truly changes someone, huh? I can't say for sure, I've never loved someone unconditionally.

Her story was one of the most tragic and saddest than any stories of Attack on Titan. Her life being tortured and enslaved even in the afterlife. Her wish was someone freeing her from her hellish slave life and soul. Eren is the Attack Titan who fights for freedom, of the wishes of Ymir who longed for it. When Eren embrace her, tell her that isn't a god or slave but just a human with free will as asking her to help him out from using the power to protect everyone from the same fate she suffer. Eren doesn't see Ymir as their Founder or God but a lonely girl who suffer more than anyone thing. Ymir chooses to help Eren for 'destroying' the humanity who declare her as God or Devil than human along with Eldians in Paradise by her own will. She's not a evil person, she's a misunderstood character with the most tragically sad story. The only truth in their world is that people who can cruel, greedy, and horrible like King Fritz or the Marleyans who couldn't stop using the past on the Eldians are the real enemy and monsters, not her or Eren

Do you honestly think that the Marleians could just pretend that what the Eldians did never happened, it is called simple textbook revenge and the ones to blame are mostly Eldian ancestors and not Marley so stop being biased! Eldians brutal history is passed down generation upon generation for future Marleians and also for Eldians, but now it is used as a tool for brainwashing and for war and for that Marley government and it's people to an extent, cause they still think they are doing the right thing and how are they supposed to know what's right and what's wrong, they don't know what the Eldians are like inside the walls just, because you do dosen't mean they do, for them Eldians inside the walls are demons and when they kill these " demons " they are treated as heroes, but when Eren and the scouts attacked they got their confirmation that Eldians were actually demons for killing their loved ones ( hate generates hate ) they are just like Eldians and tjey ate misunderstood by the ignorant people like you and if you already forgot Eldian government killed their people when the people got too nosey like what happened to Erwins father or when the military worked with Kenny the ripper so Eldians are not so innocent themselves, but when they were forced to work together for the common goal to take down Eren, they finally realised that they were wrong about the Eldians just like the warriors realised that what they were told was not true! Attack on titan world is not black and white, there is no such thing as the main villain, cause every character in their eyes is doing the right thing and that you haven't learned that fact shows how much you have paid attention to the story or you just pay attention to these parts that helps you in your argument and avoid these parts that doesn't!

Which means when they go transform and takes them 10 seconds or less(depends on how much they want to manifest)those 10 seconds in the original dimension are like hours, days, weeks or months for them which is definitely enough time for them to complete the sand titan models. Fortunately they have infinite stamina inside Path's dimension.
