There have been Titans who could square up to shifters like some of the titans that Eren fought or the titan that ate Thomas or the Falco titan, and seeing how powerful Ogre is I I think it could face off against him, Especially since Reiner isn't a good close combat fighter like Eren or Annie who could definitely take down Ogre with their skills. In fact I think Ogre could actually beat reiner and maybe even keep up with Eren and Annie since it's been shown that Ogre isn't just an abnormal, it's smart and it's *evil.* I think it genuinely enjoys killing humans out of pure malice and the fact it threw a head over the wall shows that it knows how to send a message.

@@bromicorn colossal is good, but it's slow and from what I know he looks fast and brutal, so probably the female? As he can harden, have fast agility, and sense hes brutal he can eat other shifters titan flesh to copy there ability

If your theory about the pure titans being made by the founder is true, maybe Ogre was some kinda messed up serial killer sentenced to be transformed. It would explain his brutal nature.

The theory really makes sense. I think these titans were made along with the wall titans and were a quite harder to kill because just like wall titans which are pure colossal titans, these were custom made on King Fritz’ demand.

although titans don't run around full of energy at night time, there are some titans that are not sleepier than others, for example Bean, Bean at nighttime he didn't immediatelly sleep like Sawney, he stayed up for a long time.

I theorize that the Titans in AoT don't move so much at night because it's been longer for them since they were changed and thus they have less energy at night, whereas the ones in Before the Fall are younger and thus may have more energy to still move at night. This could be why Zeke's Pure Titans can move at night no issue, because they're brand new as opposed to years old.

This might also explain why Bean did not immediate fall asleep, while the other titan did. If Bean were the elder of the two, then he mightve slept faster.

My theory is that titans follow the sleep schedule they had as humans, some people are night owls, some fall asleep later and back in the day, I doubt they had any light after dark making it so that they'd sleep when the sun went down. Maybe before the fall, A good portion of the group chosen to be the pure titans outside the walls were criminals who were active at night? Or guards who had night duty?

@@Kcinthasun no. They are saying that if the titans were created further back in time (thus older), then they have less energy at night and fall asleep faster. If bean were the elder, he would have slept sooner. But he was younger, and thus had more energy at night.

That makes absolute sense! It is an actual explanation to why Zeke's titans could move at night instead of just "because zeke has royal blood".

I think that instead of going alone in before the fall, Ogre sentiently sought out abnormal titans that could function in moonlight. He has proved his intelligence time and time again, so I think he could do this.

@@LRodz279SPOILERS AHEAD it was eren controlling dina if he has not done that then his Past self would not have the hatred he had for titans and would never have joined the survey corps because of his Mother Telling him to not join it because it was dangorous and thousands of soldiers die from each mission hence eren would not Have any use for the attack titan and he would never know he had it because he was not eaten by the santa titans or expierenced death to his comrades hence he would never know he had the attack titan even if he knew i think he would try and convince his mother to let him join the survey corps to get to their basement or retake wall maria if they had retaken wall maria eren would not have to go to marley if his mother was not eaten and also i think the worriers would leave paradis island since Eren never joined the survey corps then they would have a hard time finding eren i think they would manage to find ymir and take her back to marley and the jaw will be in marleys hands again (Listen i know this Thing has a lot of Bad grammer and Bad story explanation sorry i have read the manga 4 months ago but ive forgotten most of it since it was 4 months ago)

There's a few cool other tidbits in Before the Fall. - Cardina and a few others explicitly state Titans come from the south, and theorize that the source of the Titans is located there, hinting at the Marleyan port. - Kuklo apparently heals unnaturally quickly when in Rosa's care. With no Titan powers, it's possible this is Ymir's and Eren's meddling. - Iceburst stone and Iron Bamboo are located near each other, which makes sense as they would have been the creation of Karl Fritz and his ancestors. - Despite some flashbacks reaching into the year 33, no one alive seems to mention times before the Walls, even those old enough to see it, hinting at Karl Fritz's brainwashing.

I once thinked that Kuklo is a shifter because some shifters or all of them can heal faster than a standard human,but nevermind it.

The Karl Frits making the abnormal titans could also explain why they were so violent, he specifically picked extremely violent sociopaths to instill extra fear on those within the walls.

Imagine if Ogre was actually a former user of the Attack or Armored Titan gone rogue, unaffiliated with any faction in Marley or Eldia, who just subsisted on using his power to cause as much pain and misery as possible. He seems too intelligent to be a pure Titan, and that physique is suspect, too. After all, when he was killed, there were decades for the shifter power to make its way back to the Marleian Army or Eldian Restorationist factions.

If any of the 9 Titans die without directly passing on their gift (via their spine being eaten by a different Eldian), the power of the Titan Shifter travels through Paths, and is forced into the body of the next Eldian baby to be born after the previous user dies.

I have a hypothesis on why Ogre acts the way he does. It’s based on a few different factors which I will discuss. Firstly, the origin of abnormal titans. After watching TurtleQuirk’s original abnormal titan video, I now believe that all titans still have their human personality somewhat intact, however, it is completely overridden by the titan instincts to consume humans. This would fit with Ymir recalling her time as a pure titan as a “Never-ending nightmare”. Thus, the abnormality of a titan is determined by the original person’s strength of will and drive to overcome these instincts. In the case of the Talking Titan, the most abnormal titan in the canon, this was worshipping Ymir which led it to tear away its own skin in order to try and resist eating Ilse, the scout it mistook for Ymir. In the case of Connie’s mother, this drive was the desire to see her son come home, hence why she said “Welcome home”. The traits of abnormal titans would be fragments of their humanity influencing them, causing them to have the intelligence to attack larger groups etc, even if it is against their actual human wishes. Secondly, who was Ogre. Judging by the fact that, even as a pure titan, Ogre has the intelligence to play with, and even enjoy, torturing the survey corps, two things can be learned from this. He was a human with a very strong will and likely was a rather sadistic person. As such, I suspect that he was an eldian serial killer, hence why he was sent to Paradise Island. Where as other abnormals result from the human conscious mind attempting to fight back against the titan instincts, Ogre seems to have embraced them, meaning that most to his remaining consciousness is actively working to aid his titan instincts, or at least achieve similar goals ( seeing as drop kicking a human is no conducive to returning to human). Because of this he retains much of his human impulses and some intelligence, thus explaining his sadistic behaviour. Lastly, the scar. This is the hardest to explain but I see it as not a true scar, but rather being closer to a titan birthmark. If I had to guess, I would say he had one in human form (either as a scar or as a birthmark), and his titan form happened to recreate this feature. Thank you to any who have read this, sorry its so long, I just wanted to contribute my hypothesis, partially because I have started reading BtF and its pretty good and I would love to see an anime adaptation. The idea that King Fritz created some pure titans to keep the people inside the walls makes sense. It would explain their abilities to move around at night, but could also explain why some seem deformed in appearance. Maybe they were criminals or prisoners that were punished by becoming titans. If Ogre was some sort of murderer inside the walls, that would explain why his titan acts the way it does.

In the ancient times , Tossing a head over a wall was a declaration of war and 'IM RIGHT OUTSIDE YOUR HOUSE' The reverse version of that where the people on the inside toss a severed head out to you standing outside means 'We give up , spare our lives Please because we will do literally anything ' The town's most hated , traitor , someone under suspicion or anyone in particular who was demanded for when their name was called out or a whole group was how it played out . We are lucky that waving a white flag now is a sign of surrender unlike back then .

It also absolutely murdered both Levi and Erwin's characterization since Levi decided to simp for the tactical genius who got about a dozen of scouts (including Levi's friends) killed by 1 abnormal because they just had to push forward during a massive rainstorm instead of setting up a camp.

I'm currently on volume 10 of Before the Fall and I'm liking the story. For being only 17 volumes long, in my opinion it's a really good series. I've always wondered how the ODM gear was made and who made it. I love all the characters and even the difference in the titans. I went into this series blind, not knowing anything about it, even bought all the volumes after I read the first two.

Lord Tyber specifically stated in his theater drama in season 4 that King Fritz created some pure titans outside the walls to discourage invasions into Paradiso. I think this is this is the reason that some old titans cold move at night.

I never knew _Before the Fall_ even existed! Looking at the screenshots you've shared in this video as well as the summary you've given, this sounds pretty interesting! (I especially like the look of the "Ogre" Titan, whose physical appearance reminds me SO MUCH of my boo Reiner 💕) but if I'm completely honest, the art style kind of pushed me out of it. It's very apparent that this wasn't drawn by Isayama. The bodies are different, the faces, and even the way the backgrounds are drawn is in a TOTALLY different style. It's not "bad" per se, but it's different enough from the main _Attack on Titan_ art style that it feels like a different world. And maybe that was the goal; maybe they WANTED readers to feel differently, considering this was in the past, and the characters were operating under a different government, different beliefs system, different strategies, etc. Thank you for uploading this! Making abnormal titans would also solve the problem of overpopulation. And since overpopulation would be solved by turning the people into abnormals, they would have the nape weak spot that Mamon had. It would also explain why there were so many vindictive abnormals, they didn’t want to die or be sacrificed so when they turned into a titan they reeked havoc on the ones who still were allowed to live

ogre was either a serial killer or an eldian who really despised other eldians due to marley’s propaganda, which is why he chose to torture them rather than kill instantly. so he may be a cold blooded killer or he may have been someone who thought he was treating the ‘island devils’ in a way he thought they deserved

He has no bodily deformities in terms of limb scaling, he's not bloated or emaciated, he's highly intelligent to the point of almost being human.... What if he was a previous holder of the Attack Titan? I know he's only 10m and not 15m like the AT, but based on his looks and actions, he could very much be an angry serial killer who acquired the AT after being turned into a titan beforehand. He hated Karl Fritz for turning him into a titan, so when he finally became human again by eating a holder of the Attack Titan, he went on a rampage and brutally killed Survey Corps members - soldiers from the country that turned him into a monster.

I agree with this but i think the reason he went on the rampage is because of the bullshit time travel ability Attack titan shifters have, maybe he attacted Paradis so that they would turn Eren into who he was

One thought I have with the titans moving at night, is it might be down to the titan serum and it’s longer lasting effects. Might’ve been a better quality during Before The Fall and then around the anime timeline, the serum has deteriorated or it’s effects have leading to titans running out of energy when the sun goes down. Just a little thought that crossed my mind

Their are only nine shifters, this includes the founder. I think it shouldn’t and ogre could be the ninth shifter.

The symbolism of the red glow in the eyes, when japanese animation is concerned, is to show great threat or that of a wild predator. I've noticed it's used a great deal in 3 separate moments throughout anime. 1) The only visible thing of a beast/person within darkness before the reveal. 2) The characters face is completely shadowed off and has one or both eyes glowing a solid red to create a sense of intimidation. And 3) The overlay of colour plus tracing effect where something moves and leaves an after effect from the beginning position. It's to portray accelerated movement while keeping the sense of a wild and feral threat prevalent. I find that it is used heavily with Fantasy anime shows that have predator creatures such as wolves.

i have only skimmed over a few pages of before the fall but i so hope they adapt it as anime it looked amazing

considering titans like the talking titan have the ability to retain some of their old personality, there's a chance that ogre was once an intelligent eldian serial killer in Marley before being sent to the Paradise after being caught

The ogre vs the attack Titan, ofc the ogre is 10 meters and the attack titan is 15 meters, but it's intelligence is very quite well, and eventually the way the ogre titan kills people is unique so meaning he would probably strangle the attack Titan but he would probably loose, his fighting style is more likely street fighting with his stomping and crushing ability, and kicking ability that would be street fighting, but Eren would ofc win but this would be a problem for him, since eventually we know that the ogre titan has impressive intelligence and less height meaning less aim for attacks, meaning I'm gonna say the ogre titan would take on one of eren's attacks or dodge it, and eventually try to grip on one of his body parts and rip some of the parts out by gripping it, but ofc he would aim for the nape, but first he would need to gouge eren's eyes and if Eren falls down he would need to, crush him with his feet, and it's absolute game over for eren, but we know that Eren can transform 3 Times a day so he would transform immediately, the ogre titan with his way of street fighting would loose, so yea, I putted this in the comments since some people are saying the ogre titan has characteristics of the attack titan but the ogre would loose but I think eren would have a hard time.
