Great vid. One of my favorite characters as a kid when I started collecting comics in the late 70's. Must have been in the mid 90's when there was a table at Comic Con selling original art with a lot of the Kirby 2001 and Devil Dinosaur original art. Two titles that didn't have much popularity so the art wasn't that much, relatively speaking. I think the pages were probably about $150 each I would say. I bought one of the Machine Man 2001 pieces (the 1:25 point on this video). The pages were just strewn about on a table from what I remember. Not in any kind of sleeves even.

I have some Devil Dinosaur issues actually that i was considering doing a write up on my channel along with some silver/bronze Hulk issues that are beauties! As to finding that Machine Man Art i would sure love to see it and i hope you have some 'sleeves on it' by now-LOL! Maybe you do a video on it? Comic enthusiasts like myself would stampede to see that! Thanks for the great comment!

I'm keen to explore more of Kirby's work. His influence is everywhere but I've only just now picked up Challengers of the Unknown, my first read by him beyond a handful of early FF issues.

In addition to the Challengers of Unknown Kirby had some stints in another offshoot series that i cover on one of my videos called 'CREATURES ON THE LOOSE' which you may want to check out. The science fiction and variety of silver age artists that were some of the best Marvel (and DC) ever had to offer even in the golden age was quite fascinating. Strange Adventures was another DC series that i enjoyed which did not have any Kirby Presence but had interesting scifi stories/artwork.

@@genxcomics2465 Thanks for the information! I'm enjoying Challengers so far, but it reminds me more of EC Weird Science than early Marvel in many ways. Good fun!

Yes he was and it surprises me that some of these titles have NOT even gone mainstream like Machine Man for instance. Thanks for the comment!

For anyone reading this comment, what’s your idea on Machine Man in the MCU? You know, stories, impact, arc, involvement, death?

How exactly did he started in 2001 A Space Odyssey? Did MARVEL owned the rights for all the characters in the comic, even though it was a licensed one? And are the events of 2001 canonical to 616 Machine Man?

Was 2001 A Space Odyssey a direct tie in to the book/movie?

GenXComics thanks I found a video on it. I never knew these existed but apparently Marvel lost the rights to use these anymore. No wonder we did not see the follow ups when 2010 or the other 2/3 books came out

@@210SAi - GREAT QUESTION! We did get some continuation from 2010 which segways into 'Machine Man' although there were only 9 issues drawn by Kirby and than the next 10 by Marv Wolfman/Steve Ditko. It actually stopped circulation for about 10 mos in 78 and then was continued thru issue 19. Then Volumne 2 came out in a magazine i believe in 1984 and volume 3 in 1999. Let's not forget the little excursion from Hulk 235-237 in 1979 which was about time i started collecting.
