The Ordinary, now under ownership by Estee Lauder, is back at releasing new skincare products. In the last month they have released new serums, toners, retinols, and even a lip balm! This Milky Toner is an extremely hydrating toner- even my dry skin finds it be on the hydrating side. Because of that I ended up finding it works better in my nighttime routine. The Saccharomyces Ferment Milky Toner is going to be nice for very dry skin as well as in dry climates and during colder weather!

You're totally right: the fact that you receive a product for free can and probably often does affect the reviewer's opinion. First of all because humans often feel indebted when they are gifted something. I will be nicer to you if you just treated me to a nice dinner (quid pro quo). But more importantly, you receiving review copies of skincare, either from the company itself or some marketing agency, is not a given. If they don't like your review they can stop sending you free stuff at any point in time. Consciously or unconsciously that can get you to be more positive or to leave out some negatives. I think it's great that you are truly independent. It makes your reviews much more trustworthy.

You are so right. Studied this in depth in graduate school It blows me away that the most basic psychology simply flies over many people’s heads, but there is so much unconscious bias in the world that I can’t be surprised that people aren’t willing to consider this. Most people aren’t willing to even entertain the fact that they might have a bias which is scary; there’s no possibility to change some thing that you completely deny may exist. You are so educated on the psychology behind this and why it’s so important to remain as unbiased as possible (while understanding that we all are going to have biases to some degree); it’s a huge reason why I trust and follow you. (That and you’re simply amazing!) There is no BS in your beauty, beautiful! LOVING the newsletter and appreciate that you find creative ways to work around doing sponsored videos or accepting free products. If you could let us know how to enter the giveaways within it, I would be so grateful as it hasn’t been clear to me in the newsletters. I see that it says “tube in” but never sure where I’m supposed to go to enter? I see the winners each week so I must be missing something. Thanks for letting me know if you have the time. Hugs to all your fur babies.

Your reviews seem very trustworthy imo. You seem hypercritical of companies who have questionable past drama, which I appreciate. I like that seem to have very high standards of ingredients and performance but also of ethical practices. Even though I have normal/oily skin with a medium dark complexion, I still go to your channel first before buying any skincare. Thanks for all great, informative content !

Yeah. Keep doing what you’re doing. There are some decent influencers out there who discuss free stuff they’re sent, but it is a slippery slope. And you’re best staying right off it. ❤

I wanted to see your review before getting this to try. The fact you're saying it's very hydrating and I have very dry skin, this might be a good fit for me. I use peptides and retinal at night and this might be helpful. Thank you for always making a great video. You are one of the very few content creators I would trust doing reviews with free products or even sponsored videos!! Many blessings!!!💖💖💖

It does offer some nice hydration, The Ordinary one is a bit more hydrating than the I'm From, but they are both really nice. The biggest difference between them is how they finish on the skin. The I'm From is one I can use both morning and evening, but The Ordinary leaves skin with a more dewy, glassy finish so I use it more at night.

omg just saw this! Was so curious. And, of course, you already got your hands on it, tried it and made a review lol I appreciate your take on reviewing free products. I would still trust you (and I hate that you spend so much of your own money!!!!!!) but I get it. Just read something about facilitated speech and something called the ideomotor phenomenon. Sorta the same idea. You think you're being honest and earnest in your review. But in actuality, the review is being controlled and manipulated by someone else. It's all very nuanced. That said, you have paid your dues. Year after year. Your subscribers are not fairweather subscribers.
