Cassandra, for your "open flesh wound," try a large hydrocolloid patch! It blends in better than a bandaid while still protecting the wound. Plus, you can always put makeup on top of the patch. ❤️

The directions on the box does say to use in once weekly for the first two weeks, so results are in two weeks for the first two uses. However I think that’s part of huge appeal/love of ordinary for me is that the products always last longer than I expected them too and then so much cheaper than most other brands particularly in quality the price to quality of Ordinary is nothing normal!

I think your skin on your chest area looks much better! So much brighter. I think you just need more time for the complete turnover of the skin bumps.. I'm very excited that this product works for you. I just purchased this for summer use and going to putt my rx tret on hold for a few months. Also this would be great for my neck area bc tret is just too harsh for my neck. The yellowness wouldn't bother me bc I have golden light medium skin. Thanks for reviewing!

@@Sipu97 I just meant I want to use up the G&G I already have,, ie not waste it by letting it expire on my shelf, and also want to start trying out the new one. Too early to compare effect, but as serums, I find the G&G pills a bit, The O does not. They both spread and absorb well. The Ordinary one is quite yellow as many have pointed out, but that doesn't bother me. It's at nighttime only anyway. I will most likely switch to the higher strength provided it's easy enough to get. G&G are impressively quick with their shipping.

Always always always use at night and if you have sensitive skin sandwich method is best.( moisturizer, ret, moisturizer) . Other acids aren't recommended to avoid too much irritation. Suncreen every single day wide brim hat and shades. These products will make your skin hyper sensitive to the sun aka burning and premature ageing accelerated. Id say a simple non active cleanser( gentle cervae) at night then sandwich method and nighty night. Id say twice a week like a day or two in btwn

After using retinoids for the last few years, building up potencies, I just switched to the Naturium Retinaldehyde serum (.1%). I LOVE the ordinary and after learning about some of the drama behind this Naturium brand, plan to try this new product out! It's also especially appealing since it is slightly more potent. But I'm DYING to know your thoughts on this versus the Naturium retinal. It's also interesting to note that their product is also a weird green color which sort of bothers me lol I guess that must be necessary in order to include the chemical in the product effectively.

I've bought this and have used it twice. It does give me a little bit of dryness right now, but if I moisturise a bit more with a heavier cream it's fine. I hadn't thought of using it on my chest but I actually have most of the things you also have - new insecurity unlocked, haha. But maybe I'll also try it that way. I do like it a lot, even if it's not that cheap where I am (€27 for a bottle instead of the 15 you're talking about).

All Retinals I ever used are a bit yellow. But as long as I use a good base (a good hydrating toner) and damp skin, it spreads quite nicely and you don’t have to worry about the yellow. Buuuut having a generally more yellow skin tone might falsify my perception a bit. So take it with a grain of salt. But in my experience, one pump is more than enough to use on your face and chest.

For the blackheads on the chest you could try a nose strip once or twice a week. What could also help in the shower, after you've done your normal wash routine, wash just the blackheads area with a soap from lush called Charcoal. Make sure to moisturise the skin after with a not too greasy moisturiser on this area (or SPF during the day). I think if you do this and keep going with the retinal at night, you'll have the chest of dreams. I would also only apply the retinal at night to prevent sun damage.

Oh, I need to try this on my chest and neck area, for now I use Avene Hyaluron Activ B3 Night Cream-Avene is one brand I use even though it is not vegan and cruelty free, been using it since I was a teen and it works so good for my very dry and sensitive skin, (tried other vegan and cruelty free brands but somehow for some creams I come back to Avene, I know, I know not good😟😟)

Would definitely be interested in anything you know about treating cherry angiomas as I have a number of those on my chest as well, is retinol effective in getting rid of those at all?

Hi Cassandra, have you tried the dermalogica retinol serum & if so would the ordinary be better? Big price difference. Thank you.

If you do not mind oil based serum, try SkinTra Liquid Happiness. It has 0,3 Retinal, 30 ml and it cost 15 Euros. More potent and a lot cheaper than T.O.. :)

Girl what's the point of saying "there are better retinals out there" and show a straight up 80 and 60 dollar one. When most peopel who buy The Ordinary buy it cause of it being more affordable then those stuff. Like obviously a more expensive one will have a higher chance of being better.

Showing… gives options. I worked at a high end store + the mgr got his products + appliances from a warehouse + slapped his business name on it w/a high priced sticker. ‘He laughed all the way to the bank’ at ppl who always thought that expensive means better… like u.

A "better" retinal than this Ordinary product in my opinion is Maelove's Moonlight Serum. Maelove costs $40, but is also double the volume so really it's $40 vs $30 per fluid ounce for the Ordinary. I also considered Youth To The People's $72 product in my search for the right retinal product. It's a great product, but I personally feel the price is more indicative of the branding than the ingredients. I think Cassandra shows us these products not as affordable alternatives, but as examples of what works well. From there, we can compare products as we come across them. It takes a little time, but I feel Cassandra's videos eventually build up viewers' knowledge of skincare so we can become more autonomous with our skincare decisions!

Also, and completely not an ad, but an actual recommendation... is a serum called 'Advanced A' by DRSQ in Australia, which uses a slightly stronger strength retinal, but cobines with niacnamaide and a bunch of antioxidants. It costs us around $USD 75. Expensive, but it's 30ml and way, way more comprehensive.

To get the benefits of retinal without getting that retinization effect, you can try sandwiching it between your moisturizer.

I wonder how this compares to the Geek&Gorgeous retinal serums? they're similar in price. their 0.05% was my introduction to retinoids in general and after a couple years I decided to move onto their 0.1%. in both occasions I started slow (after patch testing) and increased the frequency to every other day. I didn't experience any irritation, dryness or retinisation. for context, my skin type is dry, dehydration prone and sensitive (I have atopic dermatitis), so I thought it was quite amazing that I had no bad side effects from it. I've been unable to use it for the past three or four weeks though because seasonal allergies have made me break out in hives, so I'm not using anything other than barrier supporting and soothing stuff. I miss my retinal so much, my skin feels very congested and my texture is worse 😭
