Wow I was so excited and happy to see the mail truck of Tom Kruse!!!! I am currently reading the book, Mailman of the Birdsville Track the story of Tom Kruse. ❤️❤️. Isn’t remote Outback Aus just the most special incredible place. Red dirt makes me so happy. Great episode.

Farina also has a bakery they fire up every now and then. One year they had all the restoration crew there and I actually got to play cricket on the oval there! A friends family own the Farina station!

Hi gang had a wheel bearing fail coming down a mountain range to Whitfield VIC smoked like made pulled it apart bearing welded to axle and axle bent like a banana had to heat bend it back bearings from a wrecker and drove back to Sydney ,every pothole back could of been a disaster. Great vids you guy's.

Love the fact that your doing this trip in an old Kombi. I’ve owned a Kombi for over 35 years and done over 700,000 km in Katie. I do question weather you should be out there with your family with such mechanical issues. I know wheel bearings aren’t that expensive. Keep up the great trip video but get the Kombi fixed 🙏👍

That room at the Comfort Inn was the only one I would stay in on my trips through there, it was the only one with internet reception haha. I think you guys missed the Breakaways! The BEST attraction in Coober and the dingo fence is down there as well. Bit late for this trip I guess, next time!

The Marree Hotel is built from stone that came to Australia as ballast stones in the bottom of a tall ship , The building also has some unique basement rooms that the local cow cockies used to come and play poker etc

Plenty of interesting things around Marree , Lake Eyer which the run speed trials on in the dry ( you probably saw photos in the pub of Sir Donald Cambell running “ Bluebird “ ) and sailing in the wet season which Dick Smith , yes that Dick Smith , lol is ambassador of the club on the edge of town . Good friends of mine helped restore the pub and lived and worked in the pub a few years ago

Both the Oodnadatta and the Birdsville track are no longer a challenge, even for a normal 2WD sedan these days. They are now main truck routes and well maintained. Next thing there will be EV rechargers along them. Even the Great Central Road is easy. And two weeks about a 72yo did an unassisted double crossing of the Simpson Desert. The Canning is about the last road challenge that is a trunk route.

Hey legend .. they are 32” tyres .. a lot of work is needed to fit them .. but 215/75r15 will a stock Kombi
