games like these need to hit a very specific mark in order to get overwhelmingly positive there are lots of things that make people end up leaving a negative review, and for deck builders its very easy to reach that area, and only six games being able to maintain overwhelmingly positive after months and even years is obvious proof that if you DO hit that area, you arent leaving it
Low chance or not, I'm here because I think you're fun to watch!

Sucks that Wildfrost got review bombed on day 1 cause people had no idea how to play it otherwise it would be overwhelmingly positive too. That is one of the best deckbuilders ever made hands down.

I really liked this type of video (as opposed to the regular let's plays - which I also like, to be clear). Wouldn't mind seeing more "editorial content" like this!
Congrats on 160k subs Tyler ❤ 200k is just around the corner, hopefully. I love you olexa
When you revisit monster train I highly recommend picking up the DLC as well!! It adds a new clan, a bunch of new alternate champions, new bosses and so much more!! I can’t wait to follow this series of videos!

Unless you are a completionist they did not add so luch more in that DLC. These games have 2 dimension for player progression, the game content for a normal run, that's what casuals like, and then there is the ''end game+'' if I could say, which is more for completionnist players and people who really want to beat the game entirely and pretty much becoming a master at the game.
The STS board game is like, really good. I was skeptical of it because it was so close to the video game I was thinking "well what's even the point" but the cooperative element is like, actually really fun and gives it a unique and worthwhile element to it, it's smartly designed to be not too hard to track manually, and like. If you're familiar with the digital game already it's *so easy to learn.* Took about 6 hours going through all three acts with some people yesterday. One of them hadn't played the board game but has played the video game and there was *basically no teaching required* it was awesome. We got to the heart and died there.
I am pretty sure your Balatro video was the first of your episodes I watched. It is one of my favorite games now (I think the equalize sound effect when playing the plasma deck is one of the best sound effects in video gaming) . Thanks for this video, I have some more games to check out.
The STS board game is such a banger. I got it a few weeks ago, tried it a few times and it's already probably my favourite of all times.
Love the idea of you playing these as well! Probably will be buying Shogun Showdown soon. Along with unrelated to this video Dice and Fold and Wildfrost
I enjoy watching you! But I was also hooked by the thumbnail and video title! Psychology baby!🎉
I'm gonna be honest. I primarily watch your videos because of your personality, the types of games you like, and how good you are at them. In that order. The first one makes the last one be a positive. I watch some retromation if it gets too much 😅
Like others have said, I'm here for you. The games are just a little bonus.
Honestly I didn’t know what roguelike meant until I found your channel lol I’m glad I know now tho because they’re so fun and addicting, I was missing out for sure
Helpful; thank you!! Checking out a couple of them now
I am glad I will see Monster train new runs on youtube this week. It is a treasure.
I love all of these games but I somehow missed/never heard of shogun showdown! Thanks for correcting that!
Cool video concept, I didn't realise there were so few OPDBs!
I'm so looking forward to Cobalt Core modded. I haven't been able to get back to the modding scene cuz of uni, and I'm dying to see how much fun the new mods are.
What I wouldnt give for another Circadian Dice video 😅 So excited to watch every one of these games this week 🎉❤
I'm a simple man, I see an Olexa video and I click the notification, no matter the title.
The ONLY Overwhelmingly Hydrated Deckbuilding Roguelikes
Your videos are great, also you appear to be into the exact same kinda games as me which helps
I want the baratro soundtrack playing quietly in the background as i go about my day
My one gripe with the Roguelike Deckbuilder label is it obfuscates the fact Slay the Spire doesn't just sit at the top; it's also easily one of the GOATs for the entire Roguelike genre
First of all, thanks for the videos; I'm looking forward to this week. Second, that's quite a Steam collection you have there. Third, I've played the StS board game, and it's a lot of fun, but it takes a long time. I've played it twice, both times lasted 3 hours, and we only finished the first act. Maybe, one of these days, we'll get four people to give up *nine* hours so we can finally beat this game, but that seems unlikely. Is it worth trying at least once? Probably, yeah. But there's so much setup. The setup alone is longer than most deckbuilding roguelike runs. So, I have mixed feelings. YMMV!
My day just got better from the news of the upcoming Monster Train revisit!
Never heard of Balatro. I’ll check it out. Thanks!
apart from path of exile and factorio, monster train is my most played steam game. (slay the spire is right after that) It was truly a masterpiece of a game that I also haven't opened in over 2 years. I am looking forward to all of these videos but the monster train one the most

I get why Inscryption isn't included, with it only being kinda a rougelite for the main campaign, but Kaycee's Mod is undeniably a rougelite and I think would be worth revisiting (it is Overwhelmingly Positive, obviously)

Fwiw my judgement of it not being included is it is not tagged as a deckbuilding roguelike on steam. If even the dev doesn’t think it is, I can’t

I'm surprised that I've never even heard of Shogun Showdown. For Cobalt Core, I've watched an entire series of let's plays by Rhapsody (also good friends with Olexa) and I was hooked the whole way through. Rhapsody is also how I discovered Slay the Spire - I'm sure I've watched over 200 hours of Rhapsody playing that game. It just has so much to offer!
Luck Be a Landlord isn’t a traditional deckbuilder by any means. But it's one of my most played games ever. Particularly since it got a mobile release. I credit it for helping me quit the majority of social medias, which made me a happier person.

I wonder why Roguebook isn't up there. I feel that it perfectly catches the spirit of slay the spire with some well-placed additional spin.
I'm also here because i like your content ❤
Shotout to the Hearthstone single player pve modes! from Kobolds and Catacombs onwards, they had dungeon runs which is by itself, one of the first deck building roguelike game mode that pushed the genre forward around the same time as slay the spire, which boosted its popularity by a metric ton!
i love balatro and slay the spire, very excited to see the rest of these games and hopefully find a new love!!

IM KIDDING OLENKY YOU ARE BEST
Quite disapointed to learn that Astrea Six Sided Oracles is not among the highest rated games because it honeslty is one of the best! Six different characters that play very diffrenetly, very cool mechanics of corruption and purification that switches the way you think about health, a good diifficulty system and a great enemy variety on top of great graphics and nice music! If you like deckbuilding roguleikes and especially with dice go check it out you wont regret it! On another note great content as usual you're definitely one of my favorite roguelike content creators, cheers from France!

It’s a shame Rogue Book is not overwhelming positive. It an exceptional game.
you should play cogmind :D
Great timing I am bored, sort of, with Balatro and STS at the moment I just want a mini break so the others will draw my attention
One can only dream of a Shogun Showdown mobile port.
I really don’t care much for deck building anything, and by extension not slay the spire either, so I am actually here for you! 😌
have you heard of griftlands? I think it’s an amazing card game roguelite
Ngl I’m kinda surprised inscription wasn’t on that list

Inscryption isn’t… really a roguelike deckbuilder which is why I didn’t include it. Kaycee’s mod is a roguelike deckbuilder but I consider Kaycee’s mod a bit of, exactly that, a mod. (Plus I don’t think it’s very good haha)

I'd love to hear your take on the Slay the Spire board game, even if it's just in passing during a video Also, I agree with the rest. I watch you because you're fun to watch!
Technically speaking Samurai Showdown isn't a deckbuilder but a hand management game. It has more in common with Rogue Lords than with StS. Still a great game which I found through this video.

I go by the tags on steam, and it’s listed as a roguelike deckbuilder
I only have 3 of them, but they're all top tier so I'm not shocked
It's so sad that diceomancer didn't make it here. But I guess it makes sense, as its only a demo
Thanks for the list Olexa. straight onto Steam to get Die in the Dungeon and added CC to my wishlist
My personal hot take is, that Monster Train is actually the better roguelike deckbuilder than Slay the Spire is. But that's just preference, I like both and I loved my time with Monster Train. But I own all of the games mentioned and all of them are special in their own way. It just showcases amazingly how varied this genre can be, and those are just some of the top games, there's so many more that are good
@Nova04550
10 күн бұрын
Not that hot of a take, but maybe a slightly less popular one. I too played a lot more Monster Train than StS. It's one of my most played games. Not that I don't love StS, but enjoy MT more for sure.
@VividWorlds
9 күн бұрын
@@Nova04550 I loved the customization aspect of MT so much. Not only that you could custom build your hero, you had two heroes to choose from for each faction, five factions and chose two of them for a given run. It felt so much more like I was in control of what I wanted, in StS it's "just" which class you pick and then the usual deckbuilding aspect.
@Nova04550
9 күн бұрын
@@VividWorlds Yeah MT gives a lot more control in general and not much that will harm you just because you got unlucky. And yeah tons of variation/replayability.
One correction: Slay the Spire was not the first to have Ascensions - not by a long shot. I'm sure there are several roguelike games from days past that had them (probably MUDs), but one I know of for sure is Kingdom of Loathing. They even call them Ascensions. Although they aren't increasing numerical levels, they are unique challenges that introduce restrictions or goals on top of the regular game making it much more difficult, and they are only unlocked as a result of completing a previous run.

Astrea is one of my personal favorites in the genre and the only other deckbuilder to give me the same enjoyment as playing sts the first time. A little after its release it was actually overwhelming positive for a time, but it understandably dipped as the game asks quite a bit of the player starting out with its UI and somewhat flawed mechanics where many builds simply don't work without key components. It was also disheartening seeing the amount of streamers just tear the game a new one from the UI alone and promptly deeming it a dud, but again wasn't too surprised I guess.
petition for ultra modded sts/draft champions to come back as at least a mini-series!

To be fair FTL did the branching path thingie in a roguelike before StS (not that it matters much... it's a simple concept).
I did click the video because of you Olexa :) I like roguelikes but deck builder roguelikes are not my favorite. Cheers
Can't wait for Slay the Spire 2
If you are going to do some slay the spire modded i have to recommend the comunity collabs(im sure you are already aware of them) "the packmaster" and "spire biomes" and also a mod called "gensokyo" wich adds alternative acts 1 trought 4 with complete custom enemies, cards, relics, events, mechanics so on there is a 4th that is on a whole level pretty much could been a complete separate, the mod name is "shion" but i can not recomend it(to a content creator) because the art is pretty nswf and not suitable for video/streaming(also its translated from chinese and some texts hurt)
Cobalt core on the list... NICE❤
