I'm rather upset that the videomaker shall keep on swindle people into believing that Elvis sang and recorded this song, when he never did. Please know that many videos on KZread is not Elvis, even though it is written Elvis as singer. This is definitely not Elvis. As far as I know, he never recorded it. It sounds like him on the deeper notes. But when it gets to the higher notes, it sounds more like Johnny Mathis, although I have never heard Johnny recording in this sort of Country style. It is not on Elvis' double CD of his complete Gospel songs.

I'm rather upset that the videomaker shall keep on swindle people into believing that Elvis sang and recorded this song, when he never did. Please know that many videos on KZread is not Elvis, even though it is written Elvis as singer. Several songs, as One Pair Of Hands, Hallelujah, Happy, Happy Birthday, Baby (with guitar) and this song: The Old Rugged Cross. I'm sorry that people don't know their Elvis, or try to do a fraud, to get views and click on their false video. I hope you are doing better after your loss. God bless.

I messagedJohn Berry a while back and even though it isn't Elvis, it's definitely one of his favorite songs. . He was flattered but he did NOT put this out as being Elvis. Someone else did. I don't think Elvis ever recorded it.
I RECORDED THIS ON A TAPE IN A KARAOKA BOOTH AT THE OLD SUN STUDIO IN MEMPHIS BACK IN I BELEIVE IT WAS 1992, AND I WAS YOUNGER AND MY VOCALS WERE HIGHER, MY NEICE WAS IN THE MEMPHIS BAPTISH HOSPITAL AND WHILE I WAS VISITING HER TOOK A TOUR OF THE ELVIS SITE WHICH INCLUDED SUN STUDIO WHERE THEY HAD A KARAOKA THING THERE AND YOU COULD RECORD A SONG FOR LIKE $10.00 SO I PICKED AND RECORDED THIS, I LATER PUT IT ON A CD AND PLAYED IN THE OLD YAHOO CHAT MUSIC ROOM WHERE SOME HOW IT GOT ON HERE, I DID NOT PUT IT ON HERE AND DO NOT CLAIM TO BE ELVIS, I SING SOME AS JIMELVIS, BUT I DID NOT WANT TO LET ANYONE KNOW I DID THIS, BUT MY WIFE KNOWS AND SHE BUGGED ME TO, SO BELIEVE IT OR NOT IT WAS I WHO RECORDED THIS , AS ELVIS NEVER DID DO IT, THANKS FOR LISTENING TO IT, AND GOD BLESS: JIM

And he had three albums and a totally of about 80 songs with gospel and christian songs... About 10 % of his complete works... But this song was and is not on that list!

Why do people keep mistaking or pretending this is Elvis when it clearly isn't? It's nothing like him.
Very difficult to discern wether it's Elvis or John Berry. There are slight nuances and can be detected by the keen ear.

This is definitely not Elvis. As far as I know, he never recorded it. It sounds like him on the deeper notes. But when it gets to the higher notes, it sounds more like Johnny Mathis, although I have never heard Johnny recording in this sort of Country style. It is not on Elvis' double CD of his complete Gospel songs.
