The Obstacles in Our Path (Powerful Short Story)

A little short story which illustrates a valuable life lesson:
Every obstacle we come up against is an opportunity to improve our condition. Like the humble peasant, we must learn to tackle our problems head on.

This proves that tragedy is a matter of perspective. We should always try to master the circumstances of our lives and not be overwhelmed by them.

I heard an interesting story by Earl Nightingale about two boys who's father was a degenerative drunk and who emotionally and physically beat them. A psychologist who dealt with them as children did a follow up when they were 25 years old and was staggered at the difference in the two now grown men. One was a degenerative drunk as was his father but the other was successful, had a family and was tee total. The even more stunning answer when asked why their lives turned out the way they did they gave the exact same answer..."Well, what do you expect when I grew up with the father I had". Life does not just happen to you, it is how you react to life that defines who you are.

One other take away from this, is that your perceived duties in a kingdom or corporation don't always have to limit you to action. The peasant had no expectation to do road work, but took it upon himself anyway. Not only for himself, but other travelers.

Or just because it was in the way, he had to get somewhere, and it wasn't an option to turn back. And because he had already done a day of hard work. Conclusion: don't underestimate the power of someone who had seen enough BS for that day. If evoked, that frustration might yield something constructive, but just as well something destructive.

Whaw man, I remember when redfrost use to pump out content more frequently. So far they covered a lot of stoics, poems and a little eastern philosophies like Laotzu and confucius, would like to see more Buddhism, Quranic verses and other century writings, still a large gap of 6th century to the 18th century gems out there to learn from and practice. But thanks redfrost for sharing these with us, will vamp up and get some other great audios and book of these wisemen and experiences. Mucho mas.

For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin - real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life.

Super hot! It is! For example, in any work only those who receive pennies for their talents, and the confident that they will not be thrown out, finger do not bother, do not put any effort! It was explained to us by our economics teacher that the poor sometimes work for two people, and the rich don’t want to do anything by shifting responsibilities to others. As long as wisdom is the truth that after the most difficult life trials will finally come the long-awaited happiness and abundance! )

Thats a story i've heard before, and i'm glad i got to see it animated, thanks Redfrost. Thanks for getting me into reading more and leading me to stoicism which brought me back to the bible, truly remarkable. I leave you with some cool ones from Pythagorus... Concern should drive us into action and not into a depression. No man is free who cannot control himself. Rest satisfied with doing well, and leave others to talk of you as they will. Above all things, reverence yourself. We ought so to behave to one another as to avoid making enemies of our friends, and at the same time to make friends of our enemies. Do not talk a little on many subjects, but much on a few. Choose rather to be strong of soul than strong body. Them stoics are my Gs, and the prophets of the bible have some of the greatest fundamentals and principles as well, stoics rarely mention money, so as much as i like their philosophies on character, we should not forget the principles of money laid down by our prophets and kings of old, Moses, David, Solomon's and even Jo'b show us how to garner up what we need in money, assets and equity, along with the master teacher Jesus shows us in the parables of the talents that we must be diligent with our money and time management. We all have a purpose i pray to all the strong, good willed and wise men to keep going and to the men of faith, stick with God. Amen take care brethrens.
