Honestly this is one of my favorite videos you've done in a while! It's such a neat device with such a brilliant design; it's a shame it's not more reliable and obviously not finished. If this is a prototype and GameboyCustom does release a finished product, I'd love to see you review it!

Great work Elliot! You now look so at home with a nest of wires and a soldering iron. You’ve come a long way since your first mod! That SD card is probably not corrupt, it just has lots of “._xxxxxx” files that are left there by macOS. Just scroll past them and the real files should be there further down the list

The roms weren't opening on the microSD card that came with it is because you where trying to open the "._" version of the file. An annoying thing that MacOS does by default. The ._ file prefix is hidden by default in finder, so unless you remember to delete them manually there will be a bunch of files on the card that don't work. I'm almost certain that if you scroll down more in that folder, you'll get to the games that actually work. I had to deal with this all the time when I was younger with my R4 card

Pressing either select or start will cycle through the view options to show or hide those files, and smaller or larger icons. Or Select opens options and start does the cycling thing. I cant remember as I've used both Acekard and R4 Wood software. Very similar, and with three different R4i/Gold cards both SW work with them/ I dont know where people buy cards from that only work with one firmware version.

The screen might have stopped working because the battery circuit was disconnected. It could have been a grounding fault. Either that, or the ribbon cable wasn't seated properly, but I doubt it was that since you've been messing with these sorts of electronics for a while and that was probably the first thing you checked.
