I love the Hotel's desire to still retain the building's history, especially as the roots of Nintendo's activities and history. I enjoy how authentic it is in nature.

That's kinda how Kyoto is in general, being that it was Japan's capital all the way until the Tokugawa shogunate. There's a lot of proud history there.

@@neverlucky3406 It's probably a tactic to keep attendance low. That building isn't very large.

@@neverlucky3406 Well you clearly let them live rent free in your head at least.
So many Nintendo items considered "Extremely rare" in the United States and Europe are so easy to come by in Japan itself it baffles my mind. Although it does make sense since it's the country it all was made in the first place back in the day.

That's always interesting to me too. It's the same with Pokemon cards. Japan exclusive cards, are just regular cards in Japan...so there's no premium for it domestically. It might still be rare and expensive, but it will be cheaper than anywhere else since you have to import it there.
Gotta be honest. I just skipped to the ds
I like the fact that you always try to show us some history and nature through your videos. Good work!
This is like watching an anime come to life. Just few mates going around Japan hunting for bargains! Love all the episodes of this trip so far!
These vlogs are so well shot, the editing is fantastic, and your sarcasm stays amazing haha But seriously this whole series of you traveling Japan has been so cool 😎 imma be sad when they stop lol
Really wanted that Mew DS when I was younger, but as I was still in my mid teens and didn’t have the luxury of disposable income like I do now, I never was able to get one. I wish I had got one though as always loved the subtle Mew silhouette by the speakers. I would have definitely snapped that up if I had found it.
Your B Roll shoots are so enchanting and calming to look at, excellent video, keep up the good work!
I love that Elliot tells us about console variants that we may have w never heard of before and random accessories to so we get even more knowledge on Nintendo stuff
That car at 5:46 ❤ Japan is famous for its car modifying culture and that was quite the classic car.
Kinda crazy how not everything retro-gaming related over there hasn't been speculated in to the sky.
Thank you for your videos Eliott as always! The fact that you actually stay natural and true to yourself makes it much more pleasant to watch. Have fun in Japan, I'm going there next year Hopefully 😁
ur-eye-nals
One thing I noticed during my trip there was the sheer amount of Yugioh games that were found in the hard off and hobby off stores. Everyone must’ve had Yugioh on the gameboy back in the day 😅
I just bought a mint condition gameboy micro form japan- i’m not keen of traveling to japan, but sendico’s got me covered.
I love the design of the Ds, the Ds lite, the Dsi and Dsi Xl. I remember having all of them until the Dsi Xl broke a hinge and died.
The videography is unreal, some awesome shots!
As a huge Xbox fan it was so heartwarming to see you standing outside the Sony buildings with your Game Gear.
These videos are awesome, love your content and your trip to Japan so far! So much retro consoles/gamesQ
i love that you talk about the history of the places you go to, it's so interesting!
I'm really loving this series! I'm looking forward to the next part.
Love that you gave mini history lessons in this!! Always love hearing things I can actually apply to life
That Sharp Twin Famicom was C H E A P. I am so jealous, I have wanted one for years!!!
5:45 still peaceful with that sound
i love this series, crazy that theres still more coming. i hope one day ill be able to visit Japan one day and check out some of these stores
Really funny watching you get closer and closer to my house. Kyoto has a lot of cheap game stores near the touristy area, but I haven't been recently.
loving this series! and your Channel Elliot! Keep it up for this great content. I am huge massive fan of Retro gaming though. I hope I can visit Japan and buy some cool stuff there!🤩🤩🤩
I traveled to Japan in 2006 and got one of those Japanese e-reader devices. I also got a few Pokémon cards back then. Sadly, the e-reader did not work with European Pokémon games, so I only got to use one or two cards that included a standalone mini game. :( I still have the item though. :)
God, I so badly want more money to buy more cool stuff like this
Hi Mr retro future I started to watch you around two and a half years ago and I just want to thank you because now I have a most every Nintendo handheld which I have wanted to do when I first started watching you. I even started a retro gaming channel called dsgameboy because of you so thanks again.
Your videos are so good. I love watching them. Keep up the good work. Thanks
Best feeling ever finding the things you love I absolutely want to start collecting every Nintendo device
This looked like such a fun trip! All sorts of retro hardware, too! Also the name Hard-Off makes me laugh.
Keep it up man been here since the mod videos and hope you keep it up
upon looking it up, the rockman blue sp was bundled with Battle Network 4 (known as Tournament Red Sun/Blue Moon in japan)
Keep up the awesome work love the travel vids ❤
This is so cool! I wish that I could go to Japan and buy a ton of old consoles and make a huge collection.
Man I'd love to go to every one of those hardoff shops and get my hands on some of those film cameras. It's definitely on my bucket list to go to japan and experience it first hand. The car culture there is something else.
What an awesome vlog, so many cool locations and cool stuff at the hard offs
I'm really enjoying this mixture of treasure hunting and travel!
Great video! I don't actually know anything about Kyoto, so this at least taught me a few things!
I'll never forget when a friend and tutor of mine in college back in 2012 was on a trip to Japan. And out of nowhere, with no expectation or prior setup just randomly runs into Eiji Aonuma and takes a selfie with him. Complete freak, on in a million chance.
Can’t wait to see what you got !!! That mew ds is awesome !
Miss living in Japan in many ways but oh boy the second hand stores were always just such great places to stop by 🤩
Love these videos, so interesting to watch. If i was over there my number one gaming system i would be hunting for would be the Sega Saturn, my favourite system. The amount of treasure for that system in Japan is staggering.
8:10 Classic Densha de Go! Nobody expects train games.
6:15 This shirt gives me life
08:07 Broooo you shoulda grabbed that 8bit Music Power Final!! Ohhh man
Hey i love your videos !!!!! Its really interesting to see what kind of stuff they sell in japan. Have a nice day !!
never tired myself to see Japan an weird console stuff...keep going dude
that pink 3ds dock was amazing. I need it.
Wait, 8 Bit Music Power??? That's probably the coolest throwback I haven't seen in the longest time!!
LOVE it. I want to do this someday. You're really living the dream mate.
Awesome you went to the Nintendo headquarters! I went there aswell when I was on vacation in Japan!
I love this series man!
Congratulations! Love your content!
Really cool find Eliott!! When is the next time you will repair a GameBoy? You got me into this stuff - I am going to reshell my GBA SP and I would have never done it if not for you!
heads up: the train controller is for ps2 (there is a pc version too but its rly rare) and its the spinoff of Densha de Go focused on trams (Densha de Go! Ryojō-hen)
Love this type of videos
02:34 random Lego! If i had to guess it's the street ot buildings that the original Nintendo HQ / hotel is on.
Thanks for sharing your moments
Great views of Kyoto. Love the castles.
Sendico is perfect, thanks to sharing it to me, I bought a Poké-plush in Japan with them ! Super good and good pricing !
I love videos like this ❤❤❤ Thank you for another banger 💪🤓
There is a hard-off in hachioji, tokyo that is 4 storey building. Also, there's another hard-off a very wide one underneath it is a supermarket. I bought a lot of gameboy games there for only ¥300, nds consoles for only ¥500 and soft vinyl ultraman figure for only ¥100 each...
Hey there! Just curious, what’s the song at 1:46? Absolutely love the vibe.
Thank you for showing us what it's like there, would love to visit one day too.
I went last month. Nintendo HQ's lawnscaper needs a raise. That grass was wild! I hit up 711 tbh
This videos are so comfy.
Your content is amazing! Keep up the good work 👍
Dude, this is fantastic
Awesome find!
Can't wait to go to japan this week
Love your videos. Keep it up❤
8:49 I saw that place in a dream once, but it was dark. idk kinda weird.
Impressive as hell. Very nice vlog!
Elliot, if I bought a collectable/rare Gameboy, then reshelled it, does it retain value? E.g. GameBoy Color Pokemon, shell is a bit scuffed etc
I love how they just have a PS VR chilling there. Definitely would’ve picked up the Sharp Famicom for 5,500 yen. 10:33
The rarest Nintendo thing ever: the Astroboy Gameboy giveaway, that never happened. Its so rare that it is actually a Nintendon't
Video Title and then its just mentioned 3 second from a 12.30 min video. lol
Loving this series how many videos you got left?
I missed out on Nintendo's old HQ when I was in Japan back in 2018, it's definitely on the list for next time!
The train controller ("mascon"-type controllers) is for PS2, if I'm not wrong.
Man I was in Japan for 2 weeks and I missed the Hard Offs in Kyoto 😢 but the ones in Akihabara were legit 😮💨
I visited the Nintendo headquarters in the snow in January 2017. A magical experience. Played Alone in Kyoto by Air for my soundtrack.
The backwards base ball cap is very cool 😅
Hey there! Out of curiosity; did you happen to see many GBA SPs (likely in best to hell conditions) laying around in junk boxes? Asking because I'll be in japan in January and really just want some junk SPs to use as reshell fodder for display
Never know what you might find. From the history, architecture, nature, expression. To hidden treasures Love this series
i loved this video! that ds is a amazing find too
There is other of those Mew DS in the Book Off in the BookOff near Omori Station in Tokyo but is 100.000 yens.
as a manga and videogame lover, i see this as an absolute win
I don't own any Nintendo devices, but I enjoy your content. Cheers from Port Hughes in South Australia.
That walkman looked gorgeous indeed I wonder if they had more walkmans there...
“So guys I just went for a wee in the castle” - TheRetroFuture 2023
It looks nice over there. Ever since pearl harbor everything is practically new...well since then.
Do you think there is collectible value in battery devices? due to the expansion problem of lithium batteries
11:20 shocked me. 20 dollars for a 3DS, WHAT THE HELL ARE WE EVEN DOING OVER HERE IN THE STATES
love to see that silver dreamcast controller, and that mario kart 64 controller bundle, i was just thinking about buying one!
the super cheap one is usually kinda broken tho
