I think I’m unconsciously in denial that I’m already old. Whenever I read/hear the words “40 years ago” or “50 years ago” my mind would still try to tell me that it means the 1950s-60s.

I love that Nike is always innovating with the AF1.my favorite pair has to be the John Elliott AF1.

These are so nice! The use of the soft tumbled leather than the plastic coated leather you get with the regular forces is such a nice touch it’s so premium feeling and doesn’t crease as ugly as the regular AF1s these have a nice look when they do crease looks more natural the stamp and gold are nice touches

Talk about style never ending style. 1982 man. And still relevant. For me, top 2 sneaker of all time and it aint no.2.

Bruce Kilgore's design is timeless and as you pointed out, the innovations for its day are easy to overlook. If he earned a nickel for every pair sold, he'd be richer than Bill Gates. If you live in NYC, you cannot take a subway without seeing a pair on just about every car you get on. From oldsters to young sneakerheads, all types of people can be found sporting them, especially with all the variations that have released over the last years. A few weeks ago I was sitting across from six people and four of them were rocking AF1s. I personally think the trains would stop functioning if the AF1 went out of production. That said, I'd love to see Nike get behind rereleasing the AF2 and AF3 with more regularity.

Holy crap 40 years!!! It seemed like just a few years ago when I purchased the 20th anniversary edition!! The 20th edition was awesome as Nike kept it accurate to what I remember it as when I was a really young kid! I always remember the first release having a silver swoosh. Nikes with a silver swoosh in the 80's meant it was a special shoe! Also I remember the side panels on the original AF1 being mesh. Lastly, the style and the ventilation pattern of the holes in the toe area is accurate. I really appreciate the 20th anniversary for all these reasons! I also have the Rasheed Wallace in a patent black! It was also released in 2002. Just a cool colorway! Lastly, today I still have my 1987 Air Force 1's I bought as a kid! These were one of my favorite pair of shoes I wore on the blacktop in the late 80's! The tonged is crunchy. Overall the condition of them are about 60%. I will always remember the AF1's as a great shoe. Importantly the style and look are ageless! As it's a great looking shoe still today!

I dont really sweat it yet. Until I start looking my age im still gonna scoop and rock the dopest shit. I used to joke about being 70 and using a DMC mixer and some 1210s but its not that much of a joke latetly. Favourite AF1s are those Rockafella 1s that I walked straight passed in Niketown 2017 like an idiot 😏

I'm sorry. My AF1's are from 1985, 850204TH is stamped on the inside. So maybe Nike never really did discontinue them? Since you mentioned they were discontinued in 1984 and re-released in 1986. Also the tongue on my shoes are fine. As they are constructed with a cloth fabric only. No padding or insolation was used in the tongue. It is the inside ankle collar that is crunchy. It's this cushion material that was suppose to cushion and pad your ankles that has broken down and got crunchy. And looking at them, I would actually say the condition of my shoes are 65/70%.
