When Joel said “I can’t do it alone” last year, I think this is exactly what he was talking about. Our previous teams with questionable leadership (ahem Doc) would just force feed him the ball and not create advantages off the attention teams showed him. Our other guys need to make teams pay for that to win playoff games
@NeumsFor9

True. Many casual L takes last year off this comment last year too.

This says more about the players on the roster than Doc if you ask me. None of the players (outside of maxey) that showed up last night we’re on the team last year. What I do give Nurse credit for is putting more emphasis on embiid passing the ball. Maybe embiid always wanted to but didn’t have confidence in his team mates to knock it down.

@@mellol1628one correction, Paul Reed did everything he needed to with the minutes he got. I know he doesn't play big minutes in the playoffs, but they are important, since they're the minutes without Embiid. He's still getting better just like Maxey and Embiid.

@@mellol1628Yes exactly and a big part of the issue was something I was pointing out since he got here was that Harden did not want to be a go to scorer anymore. Harden wanted to be the assists guy and come down the court, dribble into the lane, and kick out to a shooter or lob to a dunker. It was hilarious in the offseason when people were saying Harden wanted to go back to Houston to lead league in scoring again lol like have you watched the guy play the last couple years, he seems like he is intentionally trying not to score anymore than 20 ppg. But replace him with Lowry who despite taking less shots, the shots he does take is in the moments he needs to take them and he knows how to keep an offense oiled. Replaced Tobi who was afraid to shoot with Batum who is just made for those moments and we replaced PJ Tucker with Kelly Oubre, I’ll say less haha. This is the help we needed. With all that said Doc still did a terrible job of coaching because his gameplan was to put all the pressure on James and Embiid whereas Nick will go away from Embiid completely if it means winning.

Also all the great teams that won a chip had depth and guys committed. Unfortunately Joel had Harden who was a head case thanks to morey last year. If this team is consistent they could get to the conference maybe even the chip but gotta be consistent and focused.

We can talk about Batum all day, but Lowry's simultaneous wrap around steal of Jacquez while fighting thru a screen may just be one of the biggest combinations of momentum shifting defensive and high degree of defensive difficulty that I have ever seen in Sixer playoff history. I am going back to the 80s and I don't even know if Bobby Jones did anything of that magnitude at such a pivotal time. Don't skip leg day, people!

I was honestly baffled by the Sixers 1st Half gameplan of trying to force the ball to a tripled teamed Embiid with shooters open. The only reason I didn’t have a complete meltdown a quite on the team in the 1st half was because I had full faith that this year with Kyle, Kelly, Nico and even Buddy, we had the dawgs who were going to go for broke and make plays happen when our superstar duo was having a ptsd episode.
