Today we are taking our first looks at the all-new TP-Link Archer GX90 AX6600 WiFi 6 router. Now personally I have been eyeing this router for a while now, and thanks to the recent success of my setup tour video, TP-Link reached out and offered to send one our way. So, what makes the TP-Link GX90 AX6600 Wifi 6 router so fantastic for 2021? Here is a quick list:
- Tri-band Wifi 6 supports up to 6.6Gbps transfer speeds
- Dedicated 4.8Gbps Gaming Band with QoS
- Gaming optimized Qos for PC, Console, Streaming, and more
- 2.5Gbps Networking port + additional gigabit LAN ports
- 8 High power external antennas for maximum range and efficiency
- Dedicated 1.5GHz onboard processor
With 2021 bringing so many Wifi 6 capable devices like next-gen gaming consoles, computers, cellular devices, and more, now is the time when Wifi 6 begins to make the most sense in your home. Connecting the TP-Link GX90 AX6600 could not have been easier and its user interface is among the most user-friendly I have experienced. If you can look beyond the extreme gamer-focused esthetics (If you're not into that sort of thing), the TP-Link GX90 AX6600 could just be the most feature-rich Wifi 6 router of 2021.
Do you have any questions about the TP-Link GX90 AX6600 you would like answered during my testing? How reliable is Wifi 6? How Strong is Wifi 6? How fast is Wifi 6? Does the Wifi 6 boost speeds on the PlayStation 5? How fast is the Wifi 6 on an iPhone 12? Does Wifi 6 make gaming faster? Or anything else, please let me know in the video comments below.

Only thing upsets me they charge for security system and usually they do not update firmware frequently. On the other hand, ASUs provides lifetime security system foc and keeps updating products. That keeps me away from Tp-Link. Any progress on this ? I am in between this router, ASUs RT-AX92U and Asus ROG Strix GS-AX5400. Which one do you recommend? I'm from England and using virgin media and using their router the super hub 3 and the Internet just keeps disconnecting so I'm looking to buy my own router but not just for gaming it will also be used for mobiles, TV, laptops general household WiFi use will this router do those things or is it only for gaming. Thanks

Hello. I currently have an ASUS RT-AC87U (he is 8 years old). For 2-3 weeks he has been twitching, i.e. often no longer establishes a connection, ASUS is aware of the problem. Is this TP Link G90 AX6600 a good alternative? In the 5Ghz network alone, it already has more than twice as much as my ASUS? Would it be a good step forward from the ASUS,gaming Pc`s 2 per WLan,2per Wan? Thank you for the answer.😀

For wired it would be the same as the GX90 since they both offer the same 1gbps pan and 2gbps through link aggregation. This model actually offers more wired ports compared to the GX90 as well, with the main advantage in the GX90 being wifi 6.

I’m not home to check unfortunately; however, those speed tests pull rates from the router directly to help diagnose the problem. Even though your cables are new, they could be damaged inside or have bad end connections. Always good to start from the router and work backwards to identify the issue

For 1500 square fit it will be more than adequate! Both this and the Asus seem to line up well together spec wise; however, I tent to favour longer running network specific brands for my home access, plus their suite of extension mesh systems are more affordable with this unit. With that said, if the Asus is significantly less with a sale price it seems just as good.

@@qwazyd0gg Thank you for being honest. I won’t bug you more but had one last question - my router connection is not at the center of my house. On the second floor, in the farthest point, I get 150 Mbps download on wifi and 100 upload through my Bell Hub 4000 (I live in Toronto and my plan is 1.5 gbps. I am hoping GX90 will perform much better. Any views?

I have bell 1gbps in NB and get between 450mbps and 880mbps depending on the device I’m testing with this router. We only have 1.5gbps max here on the HH3000, which only has 1gbps LAN out so I haven’t bothered upgrading yet.

Hun 5 is their newest offering, although I’ve never been a fan of internal antenna modem/routers. I’m confident you would get better range and traffic shaping with the upgrade, which would aid in speed. With that being said, I’m not sure exactly how substantial the difference will be compared to upgrading from an older modem. It’s worth a shot but I would by from a retailer with a good return policy in the event the return on investment isn’t what you expected.
