    Warning. Setup using a PC on Ethernet connection can be problematic. The web interface of the router is fussy about which browser is used and make sure you disable any adblock software otherwise you will have a bad time. The router takes quite a while to boot and updating the smallest of settings takes about 30 seconds. I also had issues because my internet would not automatically configure because it needed a login/password. Also, the phone app is likely to fail if your internet connection needs login/password and any additional VLAN/Bridge settings.

    The congestion control should be set to auto so that it only caps throughput when you are actually gaming. While their instructions don't detail it fully, the goal is you do ping tests and lower the speeds until your ping times stop having large increases. Then it should be set to auto so that you get your full speed at all times except when you are gaming. Beyond that, you set up the QOS separately where for traffic that is not very ping sensitive, it will allow full use of all available throughput, but will allow you to prioritize certain traffic, e.g., giving youtube and other streaming services a higher priority.

    Haven't really kept up with router tech, I just replace them every few years when better wifi standards are about. Been skeptical of gaming routers, kind of part assuming that the gaming aspect of it pretty much only relates to the aesthetic. I really like the geofilters in this. It's a good way to have a decent experience in games with crappy online that doesn't allow you to set location (eg Smash Bros). I'm a competitive player and I've completely swerved online because 99% of Switch players use Wifi and the dogshit matchmaking that puts me against people on the other side of the planet. Hopefully this will change once people get the OLED model and make use of the ethernet port. Combine that with geo filtering and online might actually be enjoyable

    So playing Genshin Impact on PS4 is the same wired as it is on Wifi with the TP Link AX11000, although that’s still 4ms slower (32ms wired or wireless) on 250/250 fiber than the free Frontier (Arris) modem/router (28ms wired) on 24/1 DSL and the Linksys AC1000 (28-30ms wired) on 250/250 fiber. I have spectrum lightning 400 with their router provided its that tower router and i got anywhere from 350-430mbps and averaged 60-70ping on xbox servers. I ordered up the cheapest nighthawk which is the rax20 and some cat8 ethernet cables most importantly to replace the one from the modem to router. So keeping the spectrum router and changing from cat5e to cat 8 alone made my internet stable. What i mean by stable is that before when i did speed tests the speed would go up and down when testing and now its rock solid a steady number. I got the router swapped out and i was able to hit 673mbps consecutively on testing after changing router settings to my liking. Pretty crazy i can get so much extra bandwidth than what i pay for oh and i dropped my ping to low 30s!

    My only criticism is the range and strength of the signal isn't really tested, the WiFi is used but right next to the device. I know the manufacturers usually state this somewhere on the box but never explain their test environments. It's all well and good trying to put it in the centre of the house but if theres no room in the centre of the house or it needs to be concealed let's say in the cabinet under the TV then you've got the cabinet, the TVs metal components refracting signal, the ceiling, maybe some heating pipes under the floor to refract more signal before the signal actually reaches your PC. I know there are extenders and meshes you can buy but ideally I don't want to be strategically placing/plugging in things around the house. Maybe some others are in a similar situation?

    Wifi is environment dependent. Even your wall thickness affects and degrades your signal. For the best consistence and results, always try to connect directly to your console via an ethernet cable to the router. If not possible, try to have the best line of sight to your router if going wireless. I've tried several wifi routers but the truth is that nothing compares to a wired connection.

    only with Asus routers. All Asus routers with AIMESH features can make any compatible router into a satellite unit, pretty cool when you use wifi 6 routers, cos it use one of the wifi 6 bands just for data (backhaul) since most gaming are tri-band, (2.4ghz/5ghz/5ghz) so its blazing fast.

  • @OnizukaGTO

    @OnizukaGTO

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@ehsan3954 I assume you are wireless on 2.4Ghz band. 5Ghz will give you much higher speeds, but it's bad at range. you can try getting a powered single router like Asus RT-AX88U. just anything with 4x4 antennas. It's overkill specs and you probably don't have wifi 6 clients (only brand new laptop/phones have it at the moment) but it'll still be better the BT shit-hub range and speed. Generally ceilings/floors are easier then walls, but only when it's straight up, if you put some walls in between then it'll still be tough. If you want solid speed/connections, its cables. but for wireless its MESH using wifi 6 (160Mhz for the best) as a dedicated transfer backhaul channel cos no one is connected to it. For out-of-the-box, Asus zenwifi AX. you will get close to 900Mbps transfer under 14m to satellite nodes. If you're on budget, get the AC version, has two 5Ghz channel, even lower price range? Zenwifi AX mini, only single 2x2 wifi 6/5Ghz shared, but for it's price its alright. Nighthawk Mk62 is an alternative, solid range but mesh speed is capped at 100mbps. If mesh isn't an option and you ereally want one router? You can gamble on the older RT-AC88U or mid-tier RT-AX3000, at least it has 4x4 antennas and new cpu/chipset. Im biased towards Asus cos the web control is ace and much more reliable than TP/cisco/netgear, but get whatever is your thing. cheers.

    Interesting video. Is there a way to have multiple IP addresses (preferably static) on the same residential home network and modem/wi-fi router setup? Can you assign various IP addresses either through software/settings on that and also on a cellular mobile hotspot router device (i.e. MOFI4500-4GXeLTE-SIM7-COMBO 4G/LTE Router or Netgear Nighthawk MR1100 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot Router) or on your smartphone when it is activated as a mobile hotspot? Are there any new sites like the old Net Business Rating website, subreddits, etc. that you recommend that we your subscribers/audience should be checking out to keep up on things?

    well if you want a 442 dollar router you can get the 2nd best WiFi router with WiFi 6, it’s called ASUS ax11000 and with shipping it’s all gonna cost 506 dollars, Ik it’s $100 more but your getting speeds you wouldn’t even imagine. Now if you have $840 then you can get the worlds first WiFi 6E router which is the best WiFi out today and the name of the router is the ASUS AXE 11000 router. With this router you and your family will never worry about WiFi and your gaming experience will be phenomenal. Hope this helped.
