    See that checkmark beside my name? If another 'Devin Carroll' is in the comments and does not have that checkmark, they are scammers. I'm not going to try to convince you to buy cryptocurrency, I don't use whats app, and I won't ask you to text me. They use my photo and my name (look closely and you'll usually see an extra character or symbol). For the past several months I've been playing whack-a-mole with these guys. I now have HUNDREDS of banned words and channels. They pop back up with a slightly altered profile name. So until the folks at KZread decide to take action, be careful in the comments section.

The administrators and other overhead soak up too much of the education budget but you're right if money is your goal the private sector is generally better. Health is always a big deal breaker, I was lucky that I got out with all my joints working. I worked in the Aerospace industry from High School till I retired first repairing and then building large jet aircraft. I ways thinking about early retirement at the age of 15 or maybe earlier and planned accordingly. I had to look up WEP too it seems like that should have been dealt with differently but this bill sounds a lot like forgiving student debt which is totally unfair to those who never partook but now get to foot the bill. @@sr2291 So-called "wealthy Americans" probably are not working and so get their benefit without any deductions for working a job that provides income over the stated income earnings limit until their full retirement age. If you work, and you are not at your full retirement age, and your earnings exceed the "earnings limit," a portion of your Social Security benefit will be withheld. The 2021 earnings limit is $18,960. For every $2 over the limit, $1 is withheld from benefits. When you or "wealthy Americans" move past their full retirement age, the earnings limit disappears. The SSA will adjust benefits -- make then a bit higher -- for workers who had benefits withheld because of this rule, to gradually make-up for those benefits that were actually withheld.

I have worked since I was 15, graduated from college in 1986, and have worked except for the 10 years I took care of my late husband, till his death in 2008, at age 52. I went back to work 2 years later, till I was injured in a 5 rollover auto accident in 2016. I did go back to work, as I refused Disability that my doctor required me to do. I have bilateral broken pelvis and spinal fractures, spinal stenosis that never healed due to me working in a job where I stood and bent till 2019. My current husband, who is retired, forced to me leave my job due to my bone health and debilitating pain. I hate not working, but I definitely cannot work, now. My pelvis keeps fracturing in addition to the existing breaks. How do I file? What us tge best way to file? How do I find a current earnings record? We moved from the west side of Arizona, and now live in Idaho. Will I have to pay taxes on my lifelong earnings? I am scared.....not working is foreign to me....lol. Help!!

    If I am receiving S.S. And I convert an Ira to Roth, will the taxes I pay IRS increase my monthly S.S. Ck because I have paid large amount of taxes on conversion? I appreciate your advice.

  • @cvalner

    @cvalner

    3 жыл бұрын

    No, taxes you pay on a Roth conversion have no effect on how much your Social Security check will be. However, if the Roth conversion is large enough, it might increase your income tax bracket in that year, how much of your Social Security will be subject to income taxes, and possibly even how much your Medicare premium will be. I did yearly Roth conversions in my lower income years, being sure to stay under the threshold that would trigger higher Medicare premiums.

    I keep getting different info regarding the spousal benefit vs the spousal survivor benefit. I've been told that the spousal benefit is one half of what my benefit was at my normal full benefit age (66), but then I've also been told it would be one half of whatever it is when I actually claim at 70. Also, I was told to file 3 months before I actually wanted to start collecting, which is at 70, BUT do I request it to start at my birth month or the month after? One month can make the difference between getting the benefit for 69 vs 70!

Is it true that if you win the lottery or something similar that you must pay back all that you have collected in Social Security disability. SSI, Section 8, food stamps ..Etc? And how do they calculate that? I mean what if it takes all that you have one just to pay that back and you left with nothing?

    Social Security never tells people when they have to retire. The online SS statement simply tells people how much their SS retirement benefit will be at various ages from 62 (or current age if older than 62), Full Retirement Age, and 70 if they file at those ages. I retired at 58 but didn't file for my SS retirement benefits until 70, when it reached its maximum amount. The death benefit doesn't increase.

Do my benefits stay the same? •Is there anything I need to do RE: SSDI benefits & MC coverage, prior to turning 65 to preserve both of these benefits (or qualify for more) & not be penalized for life?? •Could I qualify for spousal benefits (currently married since 2001)? And if so, would that increase my monthly SSDI (now) or retirement SS later? •Any other useful info for those of us getting close to 65 who are on SSDI & MC? Thanks Devin! I can only say what happened to me. I started SSDI at 56 in 2008. 3 Docs. convinced me to apply, they could no longer operate on various parts of my body, plus I had a hidden disability. Social Security fast-tracked my application, no denials, no hearings, etc. I think they partly based my Income on my wife's? When I turned 66 it automatically converted to SSA and the amount remained the same. Now when I log onto the SSA site it says my benefit is SSA. Of course, over time I received all the COLAs.
