In the calculation, what about interest earned on SS payments received between the first age used in the calculation and the second age?

I'm 62. Is it the earning limit 22,300 + your SSI 1154 x12=13,848. Or is the SSI included in the earning limit of 22,300?

Thank you for this video. This WEP is complex and difficult to understand. I have been a Speech-Language Pathologist working as a contractor for the schools and now have 25 years of "substantial earnings" according to the social security substantial earnings chart. My question is this - If I did decide to actually go work directly for a public school in California and HAVE to start on CALSTRS pension program, the chart says I would only get 65 or 70% of my social security benefit as it would be my 25th or 26th year/line on the percentage chart. I'm confused with the part of your video that shows maximum WEP reduction after 20 years. Is that per month or annual? I'm guessing it's per month to equate to only getting 65 or 70% of my social security benefit as in the chart? Thank you for your willingness to answer these confusing questions!

Another plan to kill the elderly. Maybe if they would not have started giving illegals who never paid into it and government would pay back what they” borrowed “ and never paid back this would not be happening. Corrupt government has killed many Americans and now this.

Should SS benefit be means tested? My opinion is no. This is a slippery slope that government has already started down. It’s too easy for the government to keep reducing people’s entitlement in order to save SS. Let’s fund it correctly in the first place so retirees get their full entitlement no matter how much earned income they have in retirement

Hello, I have a similar experience in California also. My children's mother passed away in March 2024 at the age of 59. I was married to her for 14 years, we divorced and I never remarried, and I am 61 I will be 62 in October. I was told by an SSA agent when I called to check on my own early retirement since I'm a disabled veteran living off of my meager va 10% disability. He explained I should be eligible for surviving divorced spouse benefits. I applied through him and waited for the appointment in May. Talked again to a local SSA agent in California filled out everything, and turned in the divorce original, and the Marriage license as requested. a month later got a denial stated,: application for widower benefits denied because I wasn't married at the time of her death,? So confused and dismayed, but I did file the appeal. Am I wrong or are they? Why woud I present as requested a divorce decree, I I was applying as a widower which I wasn't?

When you and your spouse are both on full retirement age. Can you claim spousal benefit now at age 67 then claim your own benefit at age 70? By initially claiming spousal benefit at age 67, Will you get the step up benefit (delayed retirement credit) for waiting to claim your own benefit until age 70?

He gave a tax cut to the Rich, big Corporations, Companies, millionaires, Billionaires President Biden and Democrats have a better plan. If you believe what the Republicans are try to sell you. You have not opened your eyes yet. Trump and mega Republicans cut taxes to the Rich and Rich companies.

But Trump's a liar. He says what people want to hear so he can get votes. Every policy he passed helped his rich friend and he's vowed to give them MORE tax cuts. We haven't had a surplus since president Clinton left office with the largest surplus in history. It only took Bush and his Republican Congress to give us the largest deficit in history, that is until trump came along

I always thought social security was to be a program to help in retirement, not be the sole source of income. However i know people who it is their sole or almost sole source of income, ad life is very tough for them. Personally i was very lucky and have more than one source of income retirement. Partially from planning and partially from luck, but i am in a great financial position now that i am retired.

If someone makes a comment here, then i have to wonder, will the govt use something in these comments to ban someone from buying or owning a firearm. I believe our forefathers were some of the most brilliant men in history when they wrote our Constitution and our bill of rights. I support them totally. I also support reasonable gun laws including background checks. I believe some people should be prohibited from owning or having access to guns. I try to look at both sides of the issue. I also look at countries that have banned people from gun ownership and the results of how their lives are effected today from it. I am pro police but with crime running rampant today it is not reasonable to expect the police can always be there to protect one or their families from harm.

I remain confused because after watching dozens of videos on this, nobody has addressed this scenario: Worker is 10 years older than spouse, both worked but worker made a lot more. Worker already started collecting. If the (younger) spouse begins to collect their *own* benefit at 62, then waits until 67 to collect the spousal benefit (i.e. supplement), is the spousal benefit reduced because the spouse started collecting their own at 62? Or is the spouse entitled to half of the full retirement age 67 benefit (minus their own of course), to bring it to $1000 in your example? Thanks!

Hello Devin what if you stop working at 62 years old and elect to file for the SS benefits. Now will the amount increase if I stop working and stop contributing to SS benefits at 62, or will you only get the max of what you contribute up to 62, and will I still get more $ if I wait until 65,67, or 70 if I stopped working at 62?

For the question of "What Counts as Income", for the Earnings limitation, Capital Gain income is allowed, and raw land is a Capital Asset. However, do the profits from land "flipping" count as allowable earnings? Or would land flipping profits be considered ordinary income, and not capital gain income, for purposes of this SS Earnings limitation?

Win-Win? it is cut to benefits. However, I believe it can be part of a overall plan, but raising the taxable amount for the wealthy is also not a big deal. During my peak earning years, I didn't pay social security tax on earnings over $150k or so, I don't remember the exact cap. But, I will tell you it would not have been a significant issue to pay on a higher amount. A little bit from everyone is the solution.
