The NEW Seiko Alpinist EVERYONE Wants!

In this video I review the stunning NEW Seiko Alpinist Laurel Prospex GMT SPB409J1 with the 6r54 automatic GMT movement inside. This watch looks incredible. Did I keep it or return it.......I returned it sadly. I was very close to buying it but I decided against it, not because the watch isn't incredible....I simply can't justify the spend.....and my wife is watch me type this.....love you honey!

MY OTHER KZread CHANNEL

WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use KZreads lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and KZread deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

Absolutely gorgeous! I like the subtle sunburst on a silverish white dial, the creamy rotating bezel, and the blue handset with a very subtle fauxtina. Although I don't mind the cyclops on the other Alpinist models, I prefer how they incorporated this date complication. But I think the surcharge isn't fully justifiable.

I was very fortunate to be gifted one as a graduation gift from family and friends and I adore it! If I didn’t already have a green dial SEIKO SRPE45 (wedding gift) I’d have gone for the JDM GMT SBEJ005, but lacking a white dial watch in my collection and love of alpinists and GMTs this SPB409 was a perfect. I like that finishing of the blue hands appears to be better than the other variants.

Love the design but I don't think Seiko can justify these prices until they also improve the movements (although doubt these will hang around!). I have an Alpinist SPB197 and have had terrible problems with the 6R35, which was losing 5+ mins/day after a few months. Seiko quickly fixed it to around 10s/day but it's now back to losing up to a minute a few months later, and will go back again. Not a fan of Swatch brands but their movements are far more reliable in the same price range (Tissot, Hamilton).

Feel as though seiko has gone a bit backwards with the movement. The Seiko Sharp Edged GMT series of watches uses the 6R64 movement and can be purchased for a lot cheaper. It has a higher beat rate at 28800bph and as you mentioned previously is also a travellers GMT. Yes the 6R54 has a lot more power reserve and the alpinist is a limited edition. But for me personally, I'd take the hit on the power reserve and still have the cheaper Sharp Edged watches with the higher bph and true GMT movement.

I just saw the Revelot watches and they look awful. Many sold out because people have no taste and because the prices are low compared to other brands. If you want a loud and tasteless inexpensive watch then it can be good for you.

Yellow rotor like in Invicta, GMT without GMT movement and date dial not possible to read just great 😂 at least they give sapphire to this one 😂

It appears the rotating internal bezel/rehort is cream, and the dial is silver, that clash visually in my eyes. 3k isn’t very limited. £1200 is alot. One for the Seiko fanbois, but not for me.

They're so neutral I don't know how you can say they clash..fair enough on the rest of your comments though

How prices go up and up, this watch costs more than my Omega Seamaster automatic cost me in 2003, mad.

I love Seiko but they should’ve gotten rid of the date dial and made it cheaper. A signed crown would be nice but this is Seiko past 2020 I guess.

I'm recently new to watches and wanted to ask in the comments if 'Ingersoll' and 'Cestrian' are well respected and reliable watch brands ?? thank you

I don't get the compass bezel. I think the inner bezel should have had the odd numbers on a 24 hour scale. I say odd because the even numbers are on the outside and fixed.

the prospex X under the seiko kinda kills it for me, would love it if it didnt have it and if it had a better movement. I still have my sarb017 that I bought for 300 used which also includes a 6R. so I dont see the reason why this one is 4x now kinda crazy

Once again another swing and a miss on the clasp, 2 holes micro adjust😢 At least it has nice female endlinks. Ugh Still pretty good looking watch from Seiko. I am happier with my new green avocado San Martin GMT with the on the fly micro adjust.

Here’s an idea: incorporate an ACTUAL COMPASS into the watch. Idk… figure it out! Just a thought.
