You forgot the extra little buff to the missile launcher: it's HEAVY! Standing still will make you hit on 3+ with all those anti infantry blasts

Imo they look like a good melta or krak target, las cannons may be overkill on T7.

I have loved this model (both old and new) for a long time. Its nice to have it be actually pretty good now!
Sentinels are iconic, no army should leave their barracks without a healthy dose of these gems!
Chainsaws and lascannons. Use scout move to do a slight redeploy, use them as shooters and misdirects for enemy firepower or blockers for enemy chargers. Use the tank shock strat to cause mortal wounds when I decide to charge them in too
Now I feel stupid for building my first Sentinel in my Combat Patrol as armoured-only. Well, time to buy (3) more and make them customizable

I usually magnatize all guns, but in case of armored/scout I go for the "6 each"... So you save the time to customize 😂
Couldn't agree more - the new Scout Sent is insanely good (points dependent). Daring Recon - AMAZING buff Save - Buff Toughness - Buff against non anti tank weapons, about the same against anti tank weapons Autocannon - Strength buff against T4 infantry, about the same against vehicles. Received the damage buff it desperately needed. Heavy Flamer - minor buff now it ignores cover HKM - sidegrade on strength against vehicles and monsters, ap buff Lascannon - Minor damage buff, strength is a buff against T5 infantry, about the same as before against tanks/monsters Missile Launcher - Frag huge buff with blast, Krak slightly worse against what used to be T7 and T8 but gains +1 to hit when not moving, great all rounder compared to before Plasma Cannon - Nerf against vehicles but HUGE buff against all types of Infantry that are 5 or more models Movement - nerf Chainsaw - nerf Multilaser - absolute trash

I love the new sentinel, as you can make it either as scout or armored, just don't glue the armored top half. I always wanted to use them as both, whatever suits me, plus painting the interior gives it a bit more character.
I think the best (as in, most reliable), way would be to take 3 scouts, two of them in strategic reserves, the on is on the battlefield and helps with removing one key enemy unit first turn, then most likely gets destroyed. Repeat with reserves on turn 2 and 3, possibly on 4 with the reinforcements strat
The take cover order has a restriction: "this cannot improve a model's save to better than 3+" So you can't use take cover on pretty much any vehicle we have seen, as they already have 3+ or better saves. Plus, as this is a characteristic improvement, it doesnt get around the restiction by being used to counter negative dice modifiers.

@@myhearn True, but only against ap0. Also, against higher ap, cover can be used to counteract some of that ap.
I've been waiting for this video ever since the Scout Sentinel datasheet was released. Definitely going arty guard with these boys, but I'm still throwing in a cheeky chainsaw sentinel.
I'm a recent recruit to the guard. Knowing this I plan on move move moving my scout to a piece of cover 18" away from my buddies terminators and bringing my Basalisk back into the meta with style!
You said the first came with an assault cannon… as I recall it was released in metal (they looked goofy but I loved them) and were the first model with a multi-laser. This was about time as the Thidd Gunn and it’s amazing blast template (four 2” templates linked together - sick!)
Huge sentinel supporter here, hope the armored version also feels good.
It worries me that we haven't even seen all the indexes yet and there I'd already so many rerolls (something gw said would be toned down) I can see some armies just not standing a chance against certain broken combos

Ok get 3 of these in one unit, scout them into cover, give them take cover. They're now on a 1+ armour save, give them 3 hunter killer missles, get within 18 of a unit reroll 1's against it kill that unit. Next turn your sentinles may die if your opponent has alot of anti tank, next turn bang 2 CP bring them back. With 3 fresh hunter killer missiles as the returned unit is a brand new unit.
We gotta learn how the Kasrkin and the Scions will look before going more daring with the Sentinels.

I have so much hope for the scions, I wish they will have some battle-shock tricks up their sleeves, sounds appropriate that those guys can snatch objectives at the last minute
I can't see how the Autocannon is a better option than the Missile Launcher. ML is more flexible with the two profiles. Krak is the same Str, but better AP, and Heavy keyword to hit on 3s (or 2s with Take Aim) which more than makes up for having 1 shot instead of 2 on the AC.
i have seven of these. So depending on points I love this new profiles and abilities. The Yeet Vs Cautious just depends on the game/mission/opponent.
I hope one day we can get a new mordian unit, so that newer generation of guardsman players can experience the glory of Mordian once again.

Always been basically my favorite imperial vehicle. Even over the tanks. Like a somewhat believable mech. Wish the multi laser would get a bump sometime. It's a cool looking gun to me.
My Catachan is going to field as many as I possibly can. Sadly, I can only use 9, and I will be sending these tank hunters with hunter-killers las cannons, and Chainsaws into the jungles where they will ambush my enemies and call down steel rain. Also scout ability is a huge part of this strategy since all my infantry will have scout 6" as well.
Can't wait to see these fielded alongside Ratling snipers. At least, I hope I one day get to see that. I just watch KZread games.

My chaos knights are looking for some revenge on the 9th ed astra militarum, better look out for our new bs 2+ brigands :) and tyrant is gonna be harpooning leman russ and darkflamming guardsmen left and right. Lets go 10th!
Both flavours look really spicy!
Missle launcher is a 4+ with heavy. So it's more flexible and can be more accurate than the dedicated weapons.

Can I give the field ordnance battery take aim? don't all the order giving units have to be attached to a squad?
In best case the field ordonance can hit on 4+? Im thinking on the core rule of Hit rolls can never be modified by more than +1/-1.

Noob question here: can basilisks receive the take aim order? I thought mechanized units like basilisks & Leman Russes, could only receive mechanized orders, And that take aim was only receivable by infantry.

This missile launcher also has heavy on it meaning you get 3+ to hit with it if you stay still
missle launchers hitting on 3s while stationary may be cool
They will be also great for doing new "actions" as no longer infantry only unit can do them
Did I just agree with MG's take on a unit? First time for everything I suppose.
Since everyone's getting unique abilities from the fluff. What would the unique ability be for the armored sentinel? It supposedly has a gyro stabilizer on it. Maybe an improvement to shooting?
I have 12 of them. It was great to spam them as they could kill everything. Now, not so sure..
The middle launcher has heavy.... That's a 3+ shot if it didn't move. That's pretty accurate anti tank shot for guardsmen
lot to love on these. Just wish they would do something more with the multi laser feels far to weak compared to the other options.

Well, guess I got lucky I managed to pick up 7 old scout sentinels second hand. 3 with heavy flamers and 4 with multilasers, but I'll probably turn on of those 4 into an armoured one with a lascannon or something, dunno yet

Team GO - GO as they have regenerate strat and use a mix of weapons 1) Auto cannons with Missile Launchers ( 48" ranges ) OR 2) Plasma guns with Multi lasers ( 36" ranges ) 3) all Flamers with certain terrain types and WITH Hunter Killer SPAM Team 9+ Scout Sentinel a real possibility
does the sentinel buff it self with the recon rule for beeing "a friendly astra militarum"? cuz it's not "an other friendly..."
I've found the sentinels Plasma cannon to be kinda unreliable. I usually only get a max of 3 shots even with the new blast. I'm liking the flexibility of the rocket launcher.

This is great news ! I've been wanting to print some of these up, but I wanted to see how good they'd be for guard. I may take them for gsc as well. Hoping tomorrow they release the index cards for the armies I play. I think it'll be eldar, sisters, agents of imperium, and maybe drunkari. I am hoping for orkz, gsc, glad we got chaos stuff today !
