@@itsthebandit2977 100 percent. Snow on the ground is a day off. That might be a week or so every 10 years with snow totals here is 8 to 10 inch. Looking at moving to Tennessee maybe next year where it goes up to 12 to 15 inches and looking at off road KLR or Himalayan. I love motorcycles. What a great way to get from point "a" to "b". It is just a hobby that I love to make the life style. Have fun on your journey. 365 days a year on two wheels.

The wife and I made our first trip to the UK in May to road trip around England and Scotland. The first night of our trip we stayed in London, before we drove to Falmouth where we spent the next two nights at the Falmouth Hotel on Cliff RD. We absolutely fell in love with that area and Cornwall as a whole. The roads were a bit crazy for us Yanks but we figured it out 😮. So these videos may very well speed up our planned return!

Just before being admitted to Hospital, I watched this video and was intrigued by the Book you bought - “Roaming”. I managed to obtain a copy and can honestly say this is one of the most enjoyable books I have had the pleasure to read. Amazing adventures and photos. Having this book and eagerly awaiting your videos of Cornwall ( the “ancestral” home of my Mother’s family) certainly made my stay in Hospital less taxing. Just waiting for the Dr’s clearance before I jump back on my Himalayan. Love your work. Cheers from Oz 🇦🇺👍

Mid 90's drove down there several times overnight in my 1964 series 2a Station wagon, camping in summer holidays with my daughter. Overnight to avoid holding everyone up! Steady 55 with the fairey overdrive whining away happily. Doing exactly the same as my dad did with me in the mid 70s. Saw my first Dax 70 outside Falmouth cinema while Jaws was the big blockbuster. Always wanted one since. Great memories. A great town and beautiful part of the UK. Now my daughter does the same thing with her children. Makes me feel quite old. Thanks for the reminder. Safe, happy travels 👍

Dax Hair was hilarious 😂. People smiling and waving could be because of the Honda but I suspect it’s something else. If there were an award for the cutest couple on the internet, you two would win! In the US it was never called the Dax. It was the first bike I ever rode! In 1969. I’ve been riding ever since!

Such a cool video guys. Honda is just nailing these wee bikes. I sat on a new Monkey last week in NZ (cos kiwi) and couldn't believe how comfy and big it felt. Then there's the Grom. And the Dax. And if you want to travel the world (or green lane etc) there's the CT 125...now that's a legend. And again guys, or should I say Monika, gorgeous shots and brilliant editing. No scenery there for too long and lovely changes. This is c;lassic. Thank you both.

If a true local told you Freddie then I’m sure it’s true! My ancestors were Bristol Pilots out of the little village of Pill, Somerset..you’ll pass it as you drive back over the m5 Avonmouth Bridge. There’s a great account of some Pill Pilot boats waiting in Falmouth for shipping heading for Bristol…a local man offered out one of the Pill men who had a reputation as a good fighter.. they met on the quay at 16:00 and stripped to the waist and went at it.. the Pill man knocked the local down after a battle and turned and asked the crowd if anyone else would like to try! Nobody stepped forward so they all went back to the Pilot inn for a good old drink up! The Pilot was Alfred Ray of Pill from the same family as James Ray who piloted John Cabot’s Matthew to sea in 1497! Anyway, I just thought I would put this as you said a nice part of the history of Falmouth and I was only reading this story the other day.. keep that landy safe and ride careful.

I did hope Land Rover kept the simple, agricultural ethos, but they went ultra premium and extreme high end. It feels like they’ve left a huge gap here for someone else to fill- in come Ineos (I’m very curious about their replacement to the Defender!) The Hunter Cub- YES!!!

Aaah, Falmouth. Love that place. I used to live in Penryn and it was the weekend destination for me and my partner. Later, I worked at the University, so I know it well. Funnily enough, I reckon I know the owner of the Blue van and possibly even the Volvo! Small world eh?

Great video again Freddie, and Monika, I've been living in Cornwall for a couple of years now - trouble is my bike's an RF900 - which is ok for many things but a bit awkward in some parts of Cornwall. If you could take the Dax up to the King Harry ferry and across to then take the road through Philleigh (Roseland Inn - great pub), via Ruan Lanihorne so as to take the road alongside the Fal to Lamorran and then on to St Michael Penkevil this last bit of road is quite a challenge on my RF - especially with wet leaves on it - and I'd really like to hear your views on how the Dax delivers (you can then carry on up to Tresillian and back to Falmouth via Truro). Great countryside is a nice bonus. This weekend (28th/29th) high tide is 10am (Sat) 11am (Sun), so it looks its best there - you might like to take a picnic along Many bike bloggs are about motorway vs town vs B road countryside but round here some of the roads are physically awkward on some bikes, especially at some times of year, so this could be the most useful bike test to date.... Just a thought, as you are down here for a few days...... Keep up the good work Glyn

Love Falmouth and whole area, lucky enough to have sailed a lot in that area one of the most beautiful places in the uk esp from sea. Some crazy wealth in properties you would never see from the road. I rode a honda monkey bike when I was 15 in a field and we made a jump only about a foot high. Think it was predecessor to dad. Did the jump and frame split causing bike and human severe pain😝😊

Now that's what I remember as a Monkey bike back in the 70's Freddie it looks exactly the same as the ones I seen around at that time .Such a great place to visit and rain or shine you have to great vehicles to use how good is that ,and when you own the Defender Freddie you could have a Dax in the back just incase of some nice weather especially since Monica fits so well on the back ideal for winter/ autumn breaks .😉👌👍

One of the many things l enjoy about your videos Freddy is the little snippets of history about the place that you visit, this one about the law courts and the steps leading down to the water was very interesting, are they the very steps or have they been replaced? lf not you were walking on the very steps the convicts would of walked on. As other people have mentioned the little Honda Dax were about in the 70's but were called them monkey bikes or pit bikes, though l would be very careful where you leave it parked as it would only take one person to pick it up and throw it in the back of an estate car or small van or any van for that matter. l'm guessing the purchase of a Defender is now getting closer Freddy?

  • @FreddieDobbs

Really glad you enjoy the little history snippets🙂 Ti the best of my knowledge, th steps and alleyway are unchanged since the convicts would’ve walked down. I’ve been agonising over the Defender- do I have the guts to actually click “apply” for the loan application. I’m close!
