    this gives me Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy vibe! Can wait to have cloth node(s), so I can procedurally model the towel I leave without! Or rig a depressed paranoid robot from geometry nodes! Or even better: Randomly generate strings of Vogon poesy! Damn, I hoped I could find 42 examples, but not to avail. so I'll say, so long, and thanks for all the nodes!

    Wonderful video. I have a stupid question. I'm not going to ask to ask, I'm just going to jump right in, right after this long explanatory introductory sentence. How are you "extruding" the reroute nodes like that? Are you duplicating the reroute node, connecting it, moving it over the first one, and then just snipping that out in the magic of editing? because if it's a keystroke, I would like to also it.

  • @harryblends

    @harryblends

    4 ай бұрын

    Thank you. There’s a bunch of tricks I’m using to get the nodes to move the way I want in all of my videos. It’s mostly editing. I tried doing precise step by step capture with my first few videos but I found it limited the rhythm (you don’t have to explain *everything*, actually if you do it’s deadly) and I find the key to conveying this kind of information is momentum. So the node moves in these video are not actual gameplay footage as it were. But it’s all captured in blender, with a ton of planning and a little bit of waking up in the middle of the night screaming.

    Sort Elements! That's *EXACTLY* the node I've been waiting for (that I never expected to exist). I make *Massive* node groups (over 18,000 nodes) for procedurally generated meshes, like my humanoid with *ZERO* modeling. The problem was, every time a new version came out, they'd screw up indexing of every node, breaking my model... One was so bad, split edges, that it literally re-indexes the entire model *RANDOMLY*. Now I have a permanent solution to all their ridiculousness. Demo: kzread.info/dash/bejne/io5lmZOOc9vMiKQ.html

    The first set of nodes in this video are from the Alpha video I posted back in January, but then the rest of are the nodes added to 4.1 since then. Or improved since then. It's 4 new nodes in the first set and 3 new nodes in the second. I wrestled with posting a second separate video for this second set but thought putting them all together (and delisting the alpha video) was a better solution. More functional. And yes, you are living in the matrix. It's nice in here though. We have a room full of puppies and unlimited burritos

    It makes me depressed to think that you'll probably never top "If you love your normals" joke. Will the world ever again line up that perfectly for a joke?

    Don't be sad Nick. I'm pretty sure we're going to be reaching new heights of daftness soon enough
