The NEW DOWNTOWN In Chesapeake Virginia That's Changing the City Forever [SUMMIT POINTE]

A NEW downtown in Chesapeake is here and growing! I spent my whole life saying that Chesapeake never had a downtown and it's finally changing! In this video I'll go into the new downtown in Chesapeake, called Summit Pointe, what's there and coming to the area and revitalizing Greenbrier in Chesapeake. Also I'll be talking about the real estate areas nearby that will be most affected by this new downtown!

Please NO sports arena! The cost of living is already increasing too fast in the area with NO high paying jobs being added. I live in Essex Meadows and it is a peaceful neighborhood in spite of all the development around it. If you like peace and quiet, then Chesapeake is the place to be. I can drive if I'm looking for anything else "exciting" in Norfolk, Virginia Beach, or Williamsburg, or even North Carolina.

I don't agree with that, because it's time for this city to grow, people that live in Chesapeake need things to do and see, who wants to drive to Norfolk, or Virginia Beach to have fun, plus, it will bring more money to the city. I love going to Chesapeake to shop and go to the movies. It's about time.

I don't venture out to Greenbrier that often, so I was surprised to see this development a few weeks ago.

They really should revamp Bower's Hill, all they've really done the last few years was add the new fire station

Those homes are closer to the 600s now. Wish we had bought over there instead of boring Deep Creek. There’s literally nothing out here and the older residents don’t want anything new here.

Wasserhund Brewery is nice. Their brick oven pizzas are fantastic! Pale Horse Coffee, also fantastic. Also to mention it is local, veteran owned. Cork and Bull is nice... but EXPENSIVE! First Watch has great breakfast. Also good to know if you haven't been there yet, there is a free parking garage, so ample parking.

You're talking about housing prices like "mid-300's to 450's to 475, up into the 5's in some cases" is affordable for the jobs of the area. These houses are way too expensive. Move in and start a family: you're kids will never be able to move out unless it's out of state.

I don't go to Chesapeake because the traffic is horrendous. It's not thick like a big area like L.A., the drivers are dangerous and selfish. You really need to pay close attention.

Chesapeake with a downtown? WTF? Finally I guess, but everyone knows the real downtown of the 757 is Norfolk. also, so you know, your mic is mono but only coming through left channel. you need to set it to mono in your recording software so it sums on both channels

To me Norfolk isn't a real down town, it small . The only real downtown in Virginia is Richmond, I love going to Richmond, plus Richmond is like a big city being from Atlanta Richmond is like a Atlanta of Virginia. Plus Norfolk is a slower pace compared it to Richmond

@@keithboykins258 Hmm I'd say richmond is denser in the core, but I'm talking relative in the Hampton roads area. Richmond most likely ended up like that because of all the hills around the area, but both cities actually have very similar population sizes. The downtown of Norfolk isn't huge, sure, but the skyline is expanding w/ the new casino going in, and the 3 new medical district high rises. Lots of new housing, and redevelopment of the section 8 housing into mixed income midsize apartments. The density of the downtown has been slowly creeping out into the ghent business districts too, where there's now a pretty clear density taper between the core of the city and the neighborhoods. Compared to the rest of the area, the only new high rise buildings have gone up at the Virginia beach oceanfront, and those are just hotels for tourist, not actual office buildings or anything productive. Norfolk is also expanding the airport, building a new terminal and expanding the airstrips for larger planes, and opening development for onsite hotels there since the whole city is at like 70% hotel occupancy. I'd definitely say it's a downtown of a growing city.
