The best thing about this area is the military's impact on the economy. A lot more stable as money is always coming in. The worst thing about the military is that transient people often do not invest in their communities. Often not voting or volunteering.
Hampton Roads is basically where the South meets the Mid Atlantic
Wellspring, Greenbrier West, Chesapeake
Imo, the biggest benefit to living in Central Norfolk is the easy access you have to the region. You can be on the interstate as soon as 3-10 minutes, downtown or town center in about 15 minutes, the oceanfront in 20-30 minutes. If you travel alot, the airport and amtrak are very close. While I agree that Virginia beach has more shopping volume, access really depends on what part of the city you live in. Norfolk is a much smaller city as far as area goes, compared to Chesapeake or Virginia Beach, so it usually doesn't take longer than 10 minutes to drive to a decant grocery store from any part of Norfolk, and the convenience stores are plentiful (and very redundant). Another benefit is that Norfolk has decant public transportation compared to the other two cities, so while I wouldn't go carless by choice unless I live in the urban core(Downtown, Ghent, Old Town Portsmouth, Berkeley, and the rest of western Norfolk), car troubles are not the end of the world in Norfolk, and getting around the city isn't too difficult without one. Central Norfolk ain't perfect, but it's great for those who have to travel all over the region.
Norfolk is chill but I'm from up north I lived in Virginia Beach for 9 years
parts of Norfolk have crime issues, Realtor used to be able to address that issue but no longer allowed.

Thank you for this video! I’m looking into moving to the Hampton Roads area. I would like to see if you can point me into the right direction on finding a modern townhouse to rent.
What neighborhood is this, starting at the 18:25 mark when you started discussing townhouses? I like the architecture of these, and they look newer.
