So a trophy husband. Exactly what you'd want to communicate by making up the word "patriarchy", so you can say it without saying it. Now you said the quiet part out loud. You are aware that when men go to war for your dinky selfie camera cobalt, it's actually identified by things like being unmarried, who HAS to go? Students and married men often legally dodge the draft, and spoils of war go to the economy that women make 80% of the purchase decsions in. That's pen-to-paper, rubber stamped, men being IDENTIFIED and tracked by their driver's license. Not that there's anything WRONG with having a VOTER ID, would you agree on that? Hillary Clinton probably wasn't worried about the draft when she suggested no-fly zones in Ukraine. She was only worried that Russia might stop the famous "beautiful Ukrainian women" moving dollars, just like Taliban banned most of the world heroin supply when USA let go of Afghanistan.

Really liked the movie, the exaggerated take on how patriarchy works, Barbie learning to be her own person and how she doesn't need to fit a singular role, Ken realizing that he also doesn't have to be reliant on other people to give him validation because he's enough, the ken song. It's all great. I will say the rant about womanhood that while true to an extent (parts of it apply to different people and whatnot, especially if you're a hispanic mother since that's a very man run culture but with a heavy expectation on how mothers should be before and after having children), it does extend to everyone not just women. But it's understandable why they focused it on the womens issues, just wish it was a little shorter since it does drag for a while.

I'd say if you've been a woman in america for the last 5 years, the general societal message is that "You are worthless and we own you". And as a man, I can how see how american women feel like that. Men are overwhelmingly voting for women hating politicians and enabling other men who simply don't care about women's well beings

My favorite thing about the push you around song is that it was sung by a man from the perspective of his abusive ex girlfriend. He literally was kicked out and had nothing left. Not even his clothes. But here they try to use this song as in the Ken's are doing it without understanding the songs meaning or orgin.

  • @Enixon869

My favorite thing is that a five second google search shows that you're a liar. "Ronnie tells APTV that the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus hit was a manifestation of the domestic violence that he and his brother Randy grew up experiencing. A self-described “lyrics guy,” Ronnie said the words for the song came quickly. (“We’ve only just told true stories.”) Winter says his parents resorted to self-medication to make their family work. (“Not everybody gets that perfect red, white and blue, American upbringing.”)" It was about watching his mother get abused growing up, you seriously hear a song with lyrics like "Cover up with make up in the mirror Tell yourself it's never gonna happen again You cry alone and then he swears he loves you" and try to twist it into the being about an abusive girlfriend. for god's sake the chorus literally repeats "do you feel like a man when you push her around?" over and over and you still didn't get it the message, stuff like this is why that speech in the movie needed to be so over the top and ham fisted with it's message.
