Not only is this getting an anime, but most of the original cast reprising their roles. Perfection. This is definitely one of Edgar Wright's best films. The music and editing is top notch, Brie Larson's cover of "Black Sheep" is phenomenal, and the cast is having a blast.

the context with knives is that the age of consent in canada is 16, it's not illegal for him to be " dating " knives but it's morally questionable and everyone around him knows he's only doing it because he's down tremendous

Also he's really just _pretending_ to date her because dating a 17 year old is "cool" for rockstars. They only held hands, they never even kissed. Knives isn't a victim because Scott's dating her, she's a victim because Scott is misleading her. Of course, pretending to date a 17 year old just to brag about it isn't exactly better than actually dating a 17 year old.

Fun fact: when Scott beats Romona evil ex boyfriend's they don't die their just sent back home.

It's cramming 7 graphic novels into a single movie. Tons of things were cut. Book/Show adaptations basically get stripped down to the bone to fit the runtime of a movie, which generally leads to a worse experience. The movie isn't bad, but it does get a lot of flak for just being an adaptation of a book from people who hate the principle

My favorite trivia about the movie is that the twins' actors didn't know any English so that's why their scenes are so short and they just summon some dragons to fight a gorilla ghost -- because in the actual comic they have actual things to do and are a little bit more important.

I will say: the comic version of GIdeon is a much better villain. He's far more sadistic and insane and way more of a control freak, and there's a REASON he's the finalboss because he represents what scott will become if he never changes. He's a moral lesson about accountability and responsibility and getting out of your bubble to better yourself as a person....by showing what happens if you DON'T do those things.

My favorite bit of trivia is that Envy's song wasn't written for the film. Metric, the band that inspired Envy in the comics, just had an unreleased single lying around whose lyrics perfectly match the movie.

Words can't describe how happy I am y'all watched this movie oh my GOSH. Probably my most favorite movie of all time.

You can tell when the editor's super into the reaction by the tidbits of trivia that get brought in. That's some dedication there.

They never explain it in the movie but when they get ko’d and explode into coins they do just respawn at home. Hilarious that the movie just makes it seem like they straight up died

While loved this movie as a kid, the books blow it out of the water by a mile. The movie feels more in line with the classic video game premise of fight the bosses and win the girl; nothing wrong with it and it is a great film. But the books feel more like it talks about our past mistakes and facing them to better ourselves. Scott constantly forgets his mistakes and doesn't acknowledge them, Romona runs from her mistakes and refuses to acknowledge them. There's this little detail with their hair that symbolizing their characterization. Scott believes Envy Adams dumped him because of his haircut, so he has been cutting it himself the same way for years. Scott wants to maintain the status quo and do things that are simple because he's afraid of change. Romona dyes her hair a lot, but as you read the books, it progressively gets longer, until she cuts it shortly before leaving Scott after finding out Scott cheated on Knives with her. It's meant to symbolize Romona starting over and running once again. After all, you experience a lot when you let your hair grow out. I really love these books. It felt like a coming of age story for those who already came of age. I know this seems like a weird place to have an analyst, but these books hold a special place in my heart.

Going into this movie blind was some of the most fun I had watching a movie. Like I didn’t know anything. So imagine my surprise when it actually had amazing fight scenes, or when Chris Evans and Brie Larson showed up😭. God I wish I could watch this for the first time again.

This was and still is one of my favorite movies of all time.

This franchise is so insane bro, I think it’s one of the only comics to get not only a great movie, but also a great game and a probably great anime.
