Hearing you guys describe Nintendo in such a nostalgic way is very weird to me because this was my childhood and I don't feel THAT old, only in my thirties. But it's interesting to be in a time where something so close to me is now seen as retro to a lot of kids these days.

Marques answering "encryption" reminds me of my friend group's trivia. Question was what did the Earl of Sandwich invent during long gambling rounds at the table for easy snacking (or something). Friend answered "lunchables"

Goldeneye+N64+split screen=amazing memories.

Don't forget that on mobile, if you swipe up from the scrub bar without lifting your finger, it lets you scrub deeper so you can more easily seek through individual seconds or even frames

@adam @ellis having a sound/tone come on with any of the reference images you guys put in would be super helpful. I’m usually doing something while watching and have the video on in the background - having a standardised cue as to when a related image is being shown makes it a lot easier to know when to engage my eyes

Marques has never played an N64....I don't understand how that's possible. But I do love that everybody else got hit with that nostalgia bomb so hard it immediately sent the podcast off the rails

Agreed. N64 will always be a favorite console of mine. It truly was WAY ahead of its time in regards to graphics.

I am only 33 years old but this is the first podcast that i actually wanted to be there to explain n 64, cause that is still my favourite console

In terms of the Apple Pencil I think it is important to note that arguably the main competitor to the Apple Pencil in the UK is the Logitech Crayon (in my experience). The crayon does not feature pressure sensitivity or does not fix magnetically to the iPad and costs £69.99 while the new base Apple Pencil is only £79.99. The university I work at features many students who use iPads (likely around 88+% in mathematics) and many use the Logitech crayon despite the fact it does not have pressure sensitivity given they only use the iPad for taking notes.

The 301+ thing was from a limitation of KZread being 32 bit and not able to show all the early views, typically like the first 7 to 30 minutes. When they switched to 64 bit (I think for 4k support?) it was a side benefit that the view count was more accurate at video publication

David’s wrong about N64 emulation, we’ve been able to emulate N64 games pretty effortlessly since the early 2010’s. Even Nintendo was able to emulate N64 better on older hardware, it’s just the switch that’s awful at it. There’s a KZreadr called Nerrel that went into this pretty indepth. I suggest anyone interested should check him out.

Genesis and SNES were concurrent. Genesis was a generation after the NES and a generation before the N64. That whole conversation makes me feel old... lol
