Almost all of those options I’d pass on. My wife has a 2018 Gla and she loves it. All we need is heated seats, Apple CarPlay, memory position, and... that’s about it. It’s a fun car to drive.

I love mine !!!Already one year , and still loving it , with all the bells and whistles, no regret at all. Got a bit surprise when parking by itself until I got use to it . And the safety signal!

We have a 20201 gla 250. I wish it had a spare tire, A heated steering wheel, and the driver assistant package. But we love it. ❤️

Hi Tommy 🙂, excellent first look review and walk around of the GLA 250. I think the price point for this model is fair since it's under $60k for a fully loaded Benz w/ a Burmester sound system and 4Matic awd. I'm 6'3 and lanky, so tall guys like us would be comfortable in a GLA. Tommy, will there be any update video on your Mini Cooper on TFL Classics?

When I configured my GLA it had 1 thing the one in the video didn’t the AMG night package and 20 inch wheels

Great review! I hate those cup holders, mine broke on my E-Class. I wish they would go back to a more simple version. Standard sunroof, and fabric seats, it is hot here in Southern California. I want a simple, solid, safe ride.

@@davidn5861 actually it's still over priced when you compare it with BMW. I mean a fully loaded x3 still uses primary rear-wheel-drive with xDrive with more power and can be had for a lot less. And the X3 competes directly with the Glc 300. So yeah this tiny Mercedes is insanely overpriced especially being front-wheel-drive biased. Even a Acura RDX Advanced model would cost a lot less than this and offer much more. I prefer BMW iDrive infotainment system instrument cluster over this buggy crap that Mercedes is trying to Pawn off. Mercedes came out with this system a few years ago and every single review I've watched shows that it is not ready.

8:57 its a USB-C to USB-A adaptor. There is no USB plugg called just USB

Tommy, you guys should really tell in each video what material the doors and dash are made out of like for example your friends over at Alex on autos, and redline reviews. Just so we know what’s hard plastic and what’s not, what’s leather wrapped , ETC.

Does it support massage for front and back seats?

I would get the bigger Cadillac XT4 for 50k and you get all the same features plus driver and passenger massaging seats that this doesn’t offer. Plus the Cadillac has more power. This is my opinion

Matt Finestein the Cadillac does 0-60 in high 6 seconds with a RELIABLE turbo 4. Has adaptive suspension witch makes it only in its class. You won’t find one bit of rubberized plastic unlike the Mercedes with that being all over the dash. The only real material in that car is the aluminum trim on the dash and the leather seats. Look at the spec and you’ll find they use cheap alternatives were Cadillac uses real leather through the interior. Put both cars side by side in every aspect and you’ll see the difference. Because I did.

Chevy Fan Sorry to tell you “Chevy Fan” LMAO, but the upper dash in the XT4 is also a soft touch plastic, just like the GLA. I don’t need your “opinion”, as I just watched a video on both, and you should too, as you’re clearly forgetting certain things from your “experiences” with both of them. I also have to tell you you’re hopelessly incorrect with your 0-60 stats. I really hope you start doing research in the future before making silly comments that make you look like an idiot. The XT4 SPORT is tested by Car and Driver at 7.8 seconds 0-60, NOT high 6 seconds. Car and Driver ALSO achieved 5.8 seconds to 60 with the GLA. And if you’re going to say the 4 banger in the Merc is “unreliable”, well then once again, you need to do your research. It’s actually quite a reliable engine. And if you’re going to say a 2 (TWO) second difference to 60 is insignificant, I don’t know what to do except feel bad for you. So wow, the Cadillac has independent suspension. Not a big deal. The Mercedes has so many advantages over the XT4 I’m too lazy to even name all them. Let’s take a wild guess here; why do you think the GLA sells so well while the XT4 sells like absolute junk? Because the XT4 really isn’t as good as a GM fanboy, such as yourself thinks it is. It’s a crappy, unforgettable car. While you like to babble on about how the Cadillac has “great interior quality”, that is virtually the opposite of what every reviewer says about it.

1/3 of those options should be standard on a smallish car with a $36k MSRP, 1/3 are legit luxo upgrades (things like the pano roof), expensive for a mfr to add and not everyone wants them. The rest aren't worth bothering with. Speaking of the last, does this press car have the infamous light-up grille star?

Just so you know......the pop-up backup camera was already a thing for the previous model. It isn't anything new.

I’m not sure about US but in Canada you can get real wood painted in black.Relatively inexpensive upgrade,I think I paid 250-300 $ for wiife’s GLC.Other colors are available as well.

I like it but that econ-looking rear wiper should be hidden like XT4 and others do it. Small thing yeah but looks so cheap

I'm sorry but those options are absolutely unreasonable. why are the park assist and other safety tech not one option?

This will be a great deal in about 12-18 months. At that point, it will be priced in the low 30s.

If the car is now for sale in dealerships, why are you (and others) not allowed to publish your driving impressions and review.

I usually don’t care about the price since all Mercedes cars are worth the money for me but that price is insane for an GLA to be honest

Nice review Tommy. :). Yes the price is worth it. No, as a Mercedes driver, I would not buy that vehicle. I do not care for that style, that class or that price. You get what you pay for, but you can choose what you buy. ;). Some of the new tech. would be nice on my older vehicle.(and yours no doubt. lol). But it is not worth an upgrade. IMO.

All the extra cost goes towards the over engineered cup holder and popup reverse camera. I think mazda cx30 looks much better.

Well those over engineered stuff is what makes it good. The camera never gets dirty. The cupholders hold everything in place very well.

The price is crazy for an A. Then again, all the tech you can get is crazy, too. If you spec a C or an E like that, they will still be 20-40k more expensive then this little A. So the separation is there. But still...

This is overpriced. I have a loaded BMW X3 that has pretty much all of this gear with a better upgraded leather and more power with a ZF 8 speed transmission and primary rear-wheel-drive with xDrive for 9,000 less. I have the panoramic roof oversized tires and it's really the next trim that competes with the gla 300 and still cost 9,000 less than this pile of crap after discounts. This car is for suckers. AMG options are ridiculously overpriced. And from my experience Mercedes does not discount much. It's no wonder that BMW destroys them in sales and are reliable as well they have very good assembly in South Carolina and are also one of the biggest exporters of cars in the United States.

The infiniti smallest qx50 starts over 50k for basically the same car. This one is a bargain at under 40k baseline... if you're ditching your infiniti like my wife is doing, it's a good deal.

add a few more $ you can get a GLA 45 instead :D

Who on this entire earth is actually buying, then listening to SiriusXM satellite radio.... $460 then a monthly $16.99 .... you’d have to be literally out of your mind! Came in my Ram and it was trash and they basically harassed me to join after the 6 month free trial.

Nobody pays that anymore. Routinely can update my XM every year for about $120 and that's the full package but more importantly I can use the internet app which streams at a much higher bit rate and includes more stations I can Bluetooth that to my home receiver as well. It's actually a pretty good value now.

Most of these are standard on a rav 4 or Honda .. wtf?!

But this is the compact class of SUV and is worth 41000 at best. This is grossly overpriced for what you get. You can get a fully loaded Q5 or X3 for this kind of money. Mercedes is smoking some good s*** trying to sell this for that kind of dough.

HiPlains1 you could get a loaded GLC for this money too. I guess they’re just going for people who want a really small SUV but aren’t as worried about price. Dealers seem to never equip these this loaded though.

Man Mercedes did that to all the rest of SUVs. Hopefully they design the back seats to fold down from the hatch using a button unbelievably they still have the old system where you have to go up front. This is way overpriced. I have a loaded BMW X3 it has more power and primary rear-wheel-drive with xDrive with real upgraded leather upgraded stereo panoramic roof blah blah blah destroys this and I paid 9000 less with discounts. I did look at the Mercedes a few years back when I bought mine and honestly was not impressed with any of their line as for what you get for the money and Mercedes does not discount or sell as much. My opinion BMW makes the best German SUV for the money.

I feel like Mercedes took a page out of EA's book of micro transactions.

How stupid is it to have an embargo on driving impressions, when European car reviewers have already uploaded full detailed reviews of this trim and others at least a month or more ago? Collectively, the reviews have amassed millions of views, not to mention the number of people that have read the written reviews, so why the imposed delay in America? Oh that's right, when it comes to European cars, America is almost always last in line, and when it comes to cool European cars, or cool high performance versions of European cars, we are lucky to get them at all. SMH.

What is the deal with fake exhaust and hiding the real exhaust under the vehicle? And, why are more and more manufacturers doing this? Because of EV's? It's just a seemingly stupid trend.

Unbelievable. Now in comparison I bought a BMW X3 pretty much fully loaded that has all this and a lot more power with primary rear wheel drive and x Drive. After discounts I paid almost 10,000 less . The X3 actually competes more with the next level trim of Mercedes gla 300 . At that price this is probably the most overpriced front wheel drive piece of s*** that I've ever seen. Not impressed. Heck this almost costs as much as a BMW X5. That's insane. Have you ever noticed that every year Mercedes-Benz makes the star bigger and bigger. Like as if people will pay more based on the old brand recognition. BMW destroys them in sales in North America and they make very reliable cars at the South Carolina plant

@@SDav21 maybe globally but not domestically in North America. Also I have a loaded X3 with every single option and paid 47000. When I was at the Mercedes dealer they would not budge on price. The X3 has a lot more power rear-wheel-drive ZF 8-speed and a much more stable I drive and infotainment instrument cluster then this buggy piece of crap on the Mercedes. The X3 is a very reliable SUV now and the idrive / xdrive system are tried-and-true.

@@HiPlains1 Well the fact remains that globally they are the best selling and that MBUX is the best system in the industry. Most journalists agree from Doug Demuro in the US to Matt from Carwow in the UK. Idrive is just menu upon menu upon menu. Not intuitive at all. They've fallen behind in that respect. It's also well known that BMWs are the least reliable of the German 3. The X3 compares to a GLC not a GLA.

@@SDav21 Whatever. Drove the GLC 300 in 2019 and it was a joke compared to the X3. This GLA is a POS with less HP and Torque and is a lower class then the loaded X3 I bought. And this GLA cost 10K more. At the very least Mercedes could have boost the motor. And it's FWD primary drive. What a joke. Dude, I test drove the Benz. BMW are still a drivers car. idrive on my X3 is being upgraded to Android audio which I really don't need. Plays my flac files NP. HK system is more then enough. I got real upgraded leather interior and A ton more space for my dogs. This POS is a joke at 56K. The X3 is VERY reliable. Not had a single issue. ZERO. Never had a new car that I did not have to bring back to the dealer for something. After 1.5 years nothing. And the stats are out there to prove it. The South Carolina plant in the USA is success story and is one of the largest exporters of cars in the states. Now the Garbage that Germany builds is another story. Full stop.

@@HiPlains1 The sales success of the GLC shows otherwise. And again, the X1 is similarly priced. And the X1 is also front wheel drive based. So calling the gla a POS because it is front wheel drive based means the same for the X1 then? People buying these SUVs don't care about it being a drivers car. It isn't meant for that. You can also watch several KZread channels of guys buying BMWs. They all basically say the same thing.... Stay away.
