To jays point at the beginning Kobe gave his all to the sport and spent little time with his family. Then after he retired a few years later he dies…… you never know what’s going to happen. You can die at any minute. You’re family IS more important than anything else on this planet.

this is sad to agree with, but true, if any of you guys follow stories about successful billionaires, Steve Jobs the Apple guy, he was a terrible parent, and spent all his time at work. In America people identify themselves too much through their work and make it their priority often neglecting their family and friends. I remember living in the States. Family that I stayed with through this exchange student programs haven't seen their daughter and son for 3 years because they moved away to different cities due to their work. In my country in Europe that's pretty much impossible! Although many of us live and work in Germany for example. Every Christmas or summer or major family member birthday you go and see your family back home. Whether you live in Spain, England, Portugal. Wherever. Also in Europe. In some countries that are more laid back like Spain, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Serbia, Greece..... People tend to enjoy life more and not focus solely on their work. You'll see people chatting, every cafe bar terrace being full of people in the middle of work hour. That's impossible to see in the States. So that's the mentality Jokić also has that might be strange to Americans.

Jokic team mates, coaching staff and everyone around him have nothing but positive things to say about him. Lebronze and his NBA helpers made the NBA soft. The fact is that Europeans never changed their game to make it more offensive and less physical. You have NBA players today who are not really great, breaking records. Westbrick ninja turtle averaging triple double for multiple seasons, James Harden doing almost the same. Lefraud destroyer of the NBA, still playing great at his age and the NBA still trying to help him win. The NBA quality has been greatly diluted and Europeans who like to play physical are thriving.

Jay has a huge point about young players in the US nowadays. They are taught to behave like stars before becoming legitimate players, teammates, and athletes. While overseas it is completely reversed. On JJ Redick's “The Old Man & The Three” podcast, the two former NBA guards discussed how the league can cater to the casual fans as well as sell the next generation of players to the viewers. That's when Arenas shared that he doesn't see Jokic turning into a “megastar” that everybody would want to watch even after he wins a championship because he doesn't have that “IT” factor. Arenas even compared Jokic and the Nuggets' situation to Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs. He noted how people found it “boring” when TD and San Antonio went on to win their fifth ring. “You know Jokic can win this championship. No one's going to care. Let's just be honest. I'm sorry. He's not gonna go from where he is right now to this super megastar because he's not doing anything kids want to see. It's the players, their personality. You know Jokic is great, but he doesn't have IT,” Arenas explained. It's definitely unfair to say that no one would care about Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets' potential title. For one, Denver fans are surely going to care. It's their first-ever shot at the Larry O'Brien trophy anyway. Gilbert Arenas is clearly trying to say that Jokic isn't that marketable because his style of play doesn't really fit the social media era that only cares about highlights. But he can't hold that against the Joker. After all, the NBA is a sport first before it's a business.

The NBA changed its game to be more like the international game. The NBA modified all of its rules to remove physicality and toughness and be more skill and shooting based. The international players took on the toughness of the 90s and 2000s players, and we are now seeing the fruits of that. The game flip flopped, and our young players are suffering from it. Rules actually took posting up from a primary focus to an afterthought of today's superstars

@@Sonny-mz6gr Jokic actually needed Murray more than others. Jokic and Murray can act as scorers as well as playmakers. KCP, AG, MPJ are good role players though

Jokic knows how to live life, he cares about winning but not so much that he would sacrifices his life for it. Family and Life comes first, we only have one chance at living but we can win many times in life.. Personally I believe jokic's is what people's mindset should be, with a mindset like that you'll always be happy

I think the league start to went downhill when the whole "Ball is Life" trend started. When honestly, ball isn't life, ball shouldn't be life, it's unhealthy. Literally, basketball isn't a year-around sport, it's bad for your joints. Kids growing up playing travel ball year around is accelerating the wear & tear on their bodies. Also it's not healthy mentally, there should be more to life than basketball. Now putting in the work to be great at something is relevant and also necessary, but these superstar Euro players seem to have their priorities straight (mostly). Meanwhile we have Ja & Zion as the biggest young USA native stars and their careers are looking quite questionable right now. Perk usually talking nonsense but he's preaching here.

BASED TAKE!! Remember when guy played MULTIPLE sports?!?! Now ALL they do is "hoop" - so they're one dimensional and VERY injury prone!! MJ played baseball - that's hand/eye coordination. Hakeem played soccer - that's footwork. AI played football - that's toughness in all kinds of weather. Jokic played handball and water polo - that's one-handed play and elite conditioning.

What? It went down hill during AAU in the late 90s, early 2000s. Then continued to get worse when the And1 tour came out, along with all the rule changes to accommodate the casual fan.

I understand” I have more important things than basketball at home” but honestly who’s asking this guys to put basketball or any sport over family. We just want to know you’re dedicated to the game and trying your hardest to win. It’s not like it’s a insane concept to love your family and basketball not in the same way but in the same capacity
