The facts are that you cannot be occupied 8 years with constant slander against him. And want from him to be part of that media machine. The idea of sport is to develop, not to create guys that use sports to be with more women, showing guns and going to strip clubs.

I don’t understand why it scares some that Jokic has a HEALTHY relationship between basketball and family. This is something we should all strive to achieve no matter what the career is.
To jays point at the beginning Kobe gave his all to the sport and spent little time with his family. Then after he retired a few years later he dies…… you never know what’s going to happen. You can die at any minute. You’re family IS more important than anything else on this planet.

this is sad to agree with, but true, if any of you guys follow stories about successful billionaires, Steve Jobs the Apple guy, he was a terrible parent, and spent all his time at work. Elon Musk has had many break ups too related to this, even Tom Brady ended up his wife leaving him literally in his last year, i highly doubt the extra year he took was worth his marriage
Jokic is a true professional. He gives his all every night and thats why people respect him. He doesn't have to LOVE basketball or make it his 24h obsession. Its a job for him. He treats it like that and thats fine. Good for him!

In America people identify themselves too much through their work and make it their priority often neglecting their family and friends. I remember living in the States. Family that I stayed with through this exchange student programs haven't seen their daughter and son for 3 years because they moved away to different cities due to their work. In my country in Europe that's pretty much impossible! Although many of us live and work in Germany for example. Every Christmas or summer or major family member birthday you go and see your family back home. Whether you live in Spain, England, Portugal. Wherever. Also in Europe. In some countries that are more laid back like Spain, Italy, Portugal, Croatia, Serbia, Greece..... People tend to enjoy life more and not focus solely on their work. You'll see people chatting, every cafe bar terrace being full of people in the middle of work hour. That's impossible to see in the States. So that's the mentality Jokić also has that might be strange to Americans.
Jokic team mates, coaching staff and everyone around him have nothing but positive things to say about him. He gives you 100% every night and conditions himself to a point he's basically never hurt. Who cares what he thinks about basketball on a personal level if the level of play is as good as it's been from him.

Lebronze and his NBA helpers made the NBA soft. The fact is that Europeans never changed their game to make it more offensive and less physical. You have NBA players today who are not really great, breaking records. Westbrick ninja turtle averaging triple double for multiple seasons, James Harden doing almost the same. Lefraud destroyer of the NBA, still playing great at his age and the NBA still trying to help him win. The NBA quality has been greatly diluted and Europeans who like to play physical are thriving.

PERK WAS SO SPOT ON! THIS WAS MY EXACT THOUGHTS AFTER SEEING THE NUGGETS WIN.
Whatever Jokic chooses to be his top priorities, he delivered a championship to his team. That's what it's all about.
On JJ Redick's “The Old Man & The Three” podcast, the two former NBA guards discussed how the league can cater to the casual fans as well as sell the next generation of players to the viewers. That's when Arenas shared that he doesn't see Jokic turning into a “megastar” that everybody would want to watch even after he wins a championship because he doesn't have that “IT” factor. Arenas even compared Jokic and the Nuggets' situation to Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs. He noted how people found it “boring” when TD and San Antonio went on to win their fifth ring. “You know Jokic can win this championship. No one's going to care. Let's just be honest. I'm sorry. He's not gonna go from where he is right now to this super megastar because he's not doing anything kids want to see. It's the players, their personality. You know Jokic is great, but he doesn't have IT,” Arenas explained. It's definitely unfair to say that no one would care about Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets' potential title. For one, Denver fans are surely going to care. It's their first-ever shot at the Larry O'Brien trophy anyway. Gilbert Arenas is clearly trying to say that Jokic isn't that marketable because his style of play doesn't really fit the social media era that only cares about highlights. But he can't hold that against the Joker. After all, the NBA is a sport first before it's a business.

This is the first take I've heard from Perk that I've liked. Well said Perk, bout time tho!
The NBA changed its game to be more like the international game. The NBA modified all of its rules to remove physicality and toughness and be more skill and shooting based. The international players took on the toughness of the 90s and 2000s players, and we are now seeing the fruits of that. The game flip flopped, and our young players are suffering from it. Rules actually took posting up from a primary focus to an afterthought of today's superstars

No Young players are suffering because of AAU ball and all these organizations that just showcase the kid with the best handles or the highest jumper rather than developing skills and an understanding of tactics. Without USA basketball school they would never done what they done.
It goes both ways though IMO. There are players who regret not focusing on their life outside of basketball but there are also many who regret not putting in the work to be better.
the difference between KAT and Jokic is that Jokic would NEVER say that while also being 10 times better than KAT and actually changing the game

Jokic is grounded and wise beyond his years🎉
I think basketball isn't as important to the younger generation compared to the older generation is because players today come from crime ridden cities or war infested countries or single parent homes. Kobe's dad played in the nba and took him to different countries growing up to play ball in, MJ came from a two parent household etc. People like Lebron, D Wade, KD and others came from single parent homes or crime ridden cities where basketball was their outlet to make it out of where they came from to have a better life

I agree, no more interview for KAT. HE embarrasses himself each time...
Jokic knows how to live life, he cares about winning but not so much that he would sacrifices his life for it. Family and Life comes first, we only have one chance at living but we can win many times in life.. Personally I believe jokic's is what people's mindset should be, with a mindset like that you'll always be happy because you see, kobe spent most of his life sacrificing everything for winning and after he won and chooses family the time he had left was not even half as long as when he was winning
This was one of Jay’s best segments. He had some solid points about joker and kat. But to me, how can you argue what perk said when joker just won a title and it looked easy for him? Joker and Giannis are changing the game with how they run their work ethic and they have shown you can win with their mindset
This man won a championship. who care what anyone thinks about his priorities or what he should be doing or going after. Get on his level.
I have been calling it the InterNBA for a while. It's a problem similar to baseball eventually.. too many foreign stars not connecting with American fans.. Jokic doesn't connect with non Denver fans and has no real desire to.. That matters in the long run when you don't have a bunch of players most fans connect with beyond their particular fan base
this is Perkin's first good take in a long time.
JWill’s eyes are looking the opposite directions, can’t unsee

I think the league start to went downhill when the whole "Ball is Life" trend started. When honestly, ball isn't life, ball shouldn't be life, it's unhealthy. Literally, basketball isn't a year-around sport, it's bad for your joints. Kids growing up playing travel ball year around is accelerating the wear & tear on their bodies. Also it's not healthy mentally, there should be more to life than basketball. Now putting in the work to be great at something is relevant and also necessary, but these superstar Euro players seem to have their priorities straight (mostly). Meanwhile we have Ja & Zion as the biggest young USA native stars and their careers are looking quite questionable right now. Perk usually talking nonsense but he's preaching here.
