    They PT with the Spec OP/SPEC War scouts brother. People that commit to these contracts just have to be self motivated to stay ready. I was a DMT and I was very happy in that job. I tell people I gave up the best job in the Navy for more money and job security when I get out. It set me up for Seaman to Admiral-21 and success when I get out. People who watch this and agree simply are not fit to become part of those trainings because they are basing this on a what if I fail or a what if I suck mentality. Doubt is the killer here, not PT.

    I signed a year ago, got through the training, currently finishing up flight med in Pensacola Florida. It's not as bad as people say. True, if you drop or get kicked out you don't keep the corpsman rating. I didn't go through the 800 division in bootcamp but they gave us 6 weeks to get our PST scores up if they're lagging. I personally was not in the best shape when I got there but put in the grind and proved to the instructors I wanted to be there and wasn't dropped. Just do the work, do what the Cadre ask of you and keep your mouth shut. They are willing to help you in any way possible if you show you're not waisting their time. Just a heads up, get good at holding your breath.

    @@jarridyoung5214 first things first, damn bro those are good scores. All I would recommend is work on your water confidence and swim time. For SARC they want your swim time to be a 9:30 utilizing the combat side stroke. All of your other scores are solid. Only thing I will say is that really put some thought into how long the pipeline will take. There's still extended wait lists for the classes in the pipeline due to the 2 years of covid we had. The 1 other guy that graduated with me went sarc and just finished BRC. It's been 2 years and he still has to go through 5 more schools including SOCM which alone takes I believe over a year. Your experience may be different but if you want it that bad do it. SARCS are undermanned.

    The big thing I think you missed talking about is the benefits that come along with signing into the ATF contract. Promotion to 3rd, enlistment bonuses. Those are things you can't get by joining the pipeline after the fact. Also, from my experience. Unless you're grossly below standards, most young adults are able to get to a point where they. can pass a PST while they are in HM "A" school. The SOC-P cadre run an outstanding pt program are do well at getting people able to pass the PST.

    I can’t speak on the behalf of the DMT or SMT. I have this contract and I’m currently in the pipeline. What he is saying is correct the only real shitty part is not having the PST before leaving in my opinion because if you plan on coming to Great Lakes and you can’t past a PST you’re setting yourself up for failure. 800 Div isn’t a thing anymore I was at Great Lakes when they got rid of it (so you and the SEAL, EOD, SWCC, DIVER, and AIRR are on the same playing field now). I was in the Marine infantry for 6 years as a 0331. I got out and my goal was to specifically get this contract to go SARC, because I enjoy the Marines, but I wanted to serve as a SOIDC for MARSOC or Recon. My point is I knew what I wanted. It is actually a really good program but coming here without prepping is silly. It took me a year to get this contract I even drove to Camp Lejeune, NC to run a PST while a Active duty SARC evaluated me. Which gave me the recommendation I needed to land this contract. They’re trying to change it to where you will be mandated to run a PST just taking longer than expected. General discharge has the best videos on this topic if you are remotely interested that channel has a wealth of knowledge. To put in prospective how fit you need to be for SARC. This is all I’ve heard from actual Recon Marines or SARCs. You need to be able to pass with SEAL PST scores. Yes that’s right SEAL PST scores(12:30 500 m swim CSS/BS 50 pushups, 50 sit-ups, 10 pull-ups 1.5 mile run 10:30 or less). This is the initial test once arriving to San Antonio, TX. After San Antonio, TX you will go to Basic reconnaissance course in Camp Pendleton, CA. To give another example just to graduate BRC you will have to complete a physical test known as the RPAT (Recon Physical Assessment Test). Consist of 500m swim, max pushups, max sit-ups, max pull-ups, 1.5 mile run. 12 mile ruck run full utilities with a 10 lbs rifle and 50 lbs ruck(that’s not including water which makes it 55 lbs usually) directly after you complete this you do 2 rounds of the Marine O-course. Finning and treading are huge part of Recon almost always in camouflage utilities. I’m not going to go into the full pipeline but consist of a minimum 2 years of training you can google the PDF that will lay it out for you. I hope this help put into prospective how physically prepared you want to be before leaving. It’s not easy but totally worth it in my opinion. If you want to be a corpsman and want to support MARSOC and Recon this definitely the job for you. For the other jobs I don’t know enough about them. I hope this helps please ask questions if you like.

    @@legojawa3776 okay so I recommend make up for the lost of pullups you won't be doing in boot camp, with what you can do. You can do alot of Pushups on your down time in ROM. Before boot camp.. Alot of pushups and flutter kicks and squats. they will tell you you can't workout but you have to understand you will get out of shape at boot camp. Just be smart about it and be safe. Good one I use to do was 300 pushups. 400 air squats. 600 abs(flutterkicks, situps, etc.). in as many sets as you need to complete the workout. Just take your time every day do what you can. For people that don't understand the COVID restrictions make it almost impossible in bootcamp right now to stay in shape. Once your at San Antonio the instructors understand you didn't have time to prepare in bootcamp. They dont except laziness though. So don't be the guy that doesn't train on down time.. The pool here is great you have alot of time after work to workout there. You can run all you want and there's pullups bars everywhere. Theres no excuse in the shape your in you can't get good enough scores to stay in the program especially at the 6 week mark. You might be here when I'm here who knows if not Good luck man.

    SARC should go through the 800 Div, it seems that SARC is a rate that is so out of the blue that it fits really nowhere in the Navy. It isn't a basic job, but it is SOF level but not part of the warrior contract group. However, we have AIRR which isn't even remotely close to SOF level, they only get paired into 800 div because of the swim, but SARC isn't and they are usually considered in the SOF family even if they aren't under SOCOM. You need SEAL scores to get in the program. SARC needs to be in the WC program, I would even kick out AIRR and replace it with SARC. JUst even the pipeline is very wonky, and secretive it seemed. Before you had to get recommended by a SARC or told by a SARC to go for it, and then they start you up. It was like you have to be invited into the pipeline and not seek it out. I heard they are changing it and making the pipeline more streamline. Supposedly they know there's issues, and they want to fix it and make it better for those who want to go for it.

    I guess the only thing you could do is sign up for the remedial fitness group in boot camp. I made a joke with my recruiter that one could just wake up super early and sneak in to the 800 division morning workout. He laughed and said that he would not advise it. I’ve been prepping for SEAL for a long time but I heard about SARC recently and decided to change over to the HM-ATF contract. Nothing is saying that I can’t go to the SEAL Motivator fitness group and workout with them. Nicky is 100% correct, my recruiter’s Chief told me that no candidate should go in to the contact unless they are 100% ready to screen NOT ONLY as a SEAL but also as MARSOC because a part of your pipeline is QUALIFYING for the Basic Recon Course, which is a completely different test!

    NICKY MGTV oh yeah dude. I only got in contact with the Chief because I spend 20 minutes talking with the recruiter about it and he was convinced that I was talking about normal FMF HM. He admitted to me that he knew almost nothing about the pipeline so was content with getting me in contact with the Chief... who gave me an IG Handle of a current DMT who undertook the HM ATF to become a DMT. He’s been a great help. General Discharge also voiced his concern over SARCs not getting placed into the 800 division. I agree with both of you: if I’m expected to achieve the standard of a SEAL, then I feel as though the military should facilitate my readiness. However, the Manning Levels for SARC show that the majority of the current SARCS are E6s and above. That’s indicative of candidates that already have their fitness levels polished by military facilities and training, therefore not providing the on-paper viability for street-to-fleet SARC candidates to be put into the 800. In short, the logic line is: “0% of current SARCs were in the 800 division, therefore it isn’t necessary for the HM ATF recruits to be in it.” Question: how do we fix this?

  • @brianmccullough8493

    @brianmccullough8493

    alex you might wanna reread the original comment. He clearly states that “AIRR... isn’t remotely close to SOF level” and although I do TECHNICALLY disagree with that comment because AIRR Rescue Swimmers DO have to pass a PST, it is significantly easier than any other rate’s PST standards. I hate to come off as a sexist, but this is due to the fact that the standard is lowered for the rate to be COED; which is not the case for any other rate that is required to take the PST (SEAL, SARC, SWCC, and EOD). Also, the capability of AIRR is definitely NOT combat oriented, therefore I have to partially agree with the original post. I believe that ANY rate that requires the passage of a PST should be 800 div.

    mistercouch I would SERIOUSLY recommend going the route of getting a regular HM contract, then try out for one of the special pipelines when already established in the rate. These special NECs are almost always undermanned, so you shouldn’t have trouble getting a contract if you have what it takes. But the ATF contract is an all-or-nothing contract, and you DO NOT want to risk going undesignated, or having some other garbage rate. Better to be patient, well prepared, and not risk screwing yourself out of the HM rate altogether. Take it from me, I’m a former undesignated, current HM3, about to pick up a DMT contract

    I don't care how nice or friendly a recruiter is, they aren't your buddy. YOU are a NUMBER that gets them closer to meeting their quota....that's it. They will push things at you where the Navy is undermanned. The longer something hasn't been filled, the harder they will push and the more attractive they will make it sound. If they use the phrase "could or can" then it's not a guarantee and if you believe them you're setting yourself up for disappointment. For instance, "if I go _______(fill in the blank with what the recruiter suggests) can I go SEALS/SARC??? You'll hear how you "could or can put in for it". You can put in (request) for anything. You can request to go to the Naval Academy but it's probably not going to happen unless you're qualified and have lots of recommendations from some alumni and serving officers. In the enlistment contract there is even a line (or two) that says essentially anything else you've been promised the Navy doesn't have to honor unless it's actually written in your contract. Or at least that's how it used to be. Oh, and don't let yourself be pressured. You could hear (from a recruiter) "you need to sign this now, I had to pull some strings to get this for you (because he's your buddy) but someone else might get it if you don't do it now". Do not believe that. And if they tell you that if you want to be an HM or something like that is full, then be willing to wait. It's YOUR career, whether you stay 4 years or 30.

    @@therealboomhauer69 Just that, that you want SARC. I don't know all the "in's" and "out's" of how it is today. I've heard/watched on some KZread channels that say you can get a SARC contract, but that same contract has Search and Rescue and Dive Med Tech as well as SARC. You could sign that contract and end up in SAR or DMT instead of SARC. I've heard on other videos that you can try out for SARC at FMTB (It used to be FMSS). Best advice I can give you is 1. BE IN SHAPE. 2. Ask questions of your recruiter. But again, be weary of words like "can" or "could". As in: "you can put in a request to go SARC" or "you could go SARC at FMTB". Neither of those are guarantees. Get online to some Navy sites and research it. Familiarize yourself with this term: "Needs of the Navy". Being in shape gives you a leg up if you get your shot. It's said success is what happens when opportunity meets preparation. BE prepared. The test requirements can be found here on KZread or online. Those are the "minimums". Don't do the minimums, do more than that. Test yourself so you can see where you're at now. If swimming is your weak point, spend a LOT of time in the pool. Get comfortable in the water. If pull-ups are a weak point.....DO pull-ups. Running? Same. Push-up's? Same. One last thing and I said this in my previous post. BE PATIENT. The recruiter will push something that's been on their desk or in the system for a long time. You're just a number to them....a quota they have to fill. If you have your heart set on being an HM and later a SARC, then be willing to wait for it. I spent almost 2 years as an SN before I got Corps School....but that was back when Noah was the CNO (Chief of Naval Operations) LOL. You have to like and be interested in what you do, because you're going to be doing it every day.
