Alpha just means that in a group of men you are the leader. Here is the thing your status is constantly changing as you move from group to group. Heck in a day one can easily bounce back and forth between Alpha status and Beta status. Furthermore all Alphas have to start off as Betas. Yes one can very much learn how to lead via training and experience. That's what the military training is geared toward. At first it produces Betas men that can be led into combat and then once you achieve a bit of rank Sgt, Lieutenant then the leadership training starts.

As a former Drill Sergeant, I'll say that this "program" looks like a bunch of never-was and once-were guys who got together and said, "Oh, you like fitness too, Bruh? Let's get some vets with 'real' credentials and we'll watch Full Metal Jacket a few times while we workout. Cool story, you're a SEAL, and you're a Marine Raider? Oh, hell yeah, we got a SWAT guy too!" The really scummy thing about this is that it appears as though it's designed to just take your money. Sure, $18k for 75 hours is a lot, but if they can make you quit within the first few hours, that's less work for them, while making it seem like it's a more prestigious thing for the remainder of the class to make it through. You'll see hard-ass Drill Sergeants, Ranger Instructors, and so on, but few absolutely push you to quit. There's a method to the madness in military training, and for the most part, you won't find your manhood challenged or be physically threatened by a professional military instructor. Not everyone will be a Green Beret or SEAL, but those ultra-cool guys can't do their jobs without the quiet nerdy person in Admin. To those willing to pay $18k for three days of being insulted and hazed: enlist in the military. An E-1 living in the barracks and eating in the chow hall makes over $24k/year. Do the right things, get promoted, and with housing and food allowances, $50k+ is easily obtainable within a few years. Learn skills, get a free education, earn benefits for life, and go as far as you want to. Serve four years and get out as an E-3 or E-4 cook or serve 32 years and retire as an E-9 Delta operator. Keep your head up knowing that you did something few are willing or able to, as opposed to paying a small fortune for some 'roided up overcompensating blowhards to yell at you.

Telling people who sign up for this (especially the kids) to "just join the military bro" has the same energy as telling airsofters "just enlist and stop larping bro, it's the same thing" I don't think this is a good program, but it's not even close to actual military service. It's just a performative version of a SOF prep course, which those already exist, but you don't hear about them as much because they aren't as vocal (because people sign up for them to prepare for the military.) It's not the same thing, at all, stop pretending like it is. Signing years of your life away to uncle sam is literally not even in the same realm as going to some alpha male course for a few days to get an extremely watered down version of a selection course that you'd see in the actual military. Wouldn't pay for it, and nobody should, but it should not even be in the same discussion as enlisting.

Or, again, if that's way too extreme of a commitment, then why not do martial arts instead? It still takes a lot of hard work and mental discipline & toughness, but you get actual physical skills and are training within an ecosystem that is evidence-based and far safer due to best practices developed over a century or more by tens of thousands of lifelong practitioners. I just don't see this type of boot camp being useful in personal development compared to any kind of real skill-building. There's zero testing of how or whether the boot camp improves the graduates in any way. Airsoft is different. 14:10 - regarding the mental health comments. When I graduated RIP and Ranger School, it didn't improve my mental health at all. For did it improve it for anybody else who finished. We knew we could do it. It's why we signed up for it. Graduating just confirmed what we already knew about ourselves. Nobody has ever said "holy shit I didn't expect to survive Ranger training". However I do know a lot of guys who had serious issues when they failed out of these programs. They got a hard dose of reality and had to come to grips with the fact that they weren't the type of human being they thought they were or wanted to be. Considering that in the one clip that said 25 started and 7 began, they left 18 guys in a worse position than when they began. Taking money from somebody and leaving them worse off than when you found them is one of the more vile things a human can do to another.

Former old school (80s-90s) Army infantryman and Ranger School grad here. I am not sure why people feel the need for paying so much money to recreate an experience they could get for free by joining the Army National Guard. These knighthood schools are for people who blew off their opportunity to serve to pursue selfish goals. These were the people too cool or lazy to join the Boy Scouts and at least become an Eagle Scout. Hey, you can't go back and pretend you're some kind of SOF/Combat Arms Veteran equivalent because you paid for one of these cringie "knight schools." Truth is, these schools are milking people by promoting the idea that SOF veterans have mastered life and have some secret knowledge to pass on. That's BS. Look at a SOF Vet's personal life. Many of these SOF instructors have piss poor marriages, evil personalities, and addiction issues. They LIKE yelling at these civilians and being the hard guy drill instructor type -- they get to feel their own self-validation in their superiority as SOF super-heroes. It's their ego that is getting stroked and they are getting paid by these desperate men who need to be validated. There are better paths for a civilian executive or entrepreneur to take -- like REAL service in the Guard or Reserve or a law enforcement reserve, ACTIVE participation in your church or faith group, a real outdoor leadership program like Outward Bound, or investing in a hobby like marksmanship, kayaking, hunting, fishing, and camping, or maybe taking a martial art at a school that doesn't give away black belts for good attendance. A traditional survival course, mountaineering, or other outdoor skills program without the BS boot camp games will do the job. I like some of these instructors involved in these programs but I am not enamored by their programs. And it doesn't validate a person the way actually being in a military unit and going through an elite military school does. It's a fake school in the end, run by someone who misses their own validation they received when they were still on active duty and treated like the elite warrior they were. Were. And USMC air-winger? Not an elite military guy, people. Just an old vet who misses being perceived as a superhero by ignorant civilians who don't know better. Notice regular vets who served in non-elite military jobs aren't signing up for these "boot camps" run by super-elite former SOF life-masters? Because they know, at the end of the day, that hype isn't the key to validation as a man.

If they are under the age of 40, I don't see why they won't take the plunge and give back by joining the National Guard. Spend six years being a soldier and go to some real military schools. It's because they are still selfish people who want an instant validation via a two week course that they pay crazy money for. @tigernotwoods914 Well here's an example I had. We get a new platoon Sergeant, He's an E-7, Sergeant First Class (SFC). He starts by saying he is only required to give us 30 mins to eat everyday, so that's what he's doing. To go, eat and come back all in 30 mins. Soldiers who use DFAC included. Then everyday he keeps us after even if he just tells us to sit around only leaving at 1900. Doing nothing and he admits it. He keeps us longer if it's before holidays or a 4day. He openly admits later he just hates going home because he hates his wife and just sits outside all day on his back porch so he hates going home. He had every NCO in his platoon use the 1SG open door policy and request to be transferred or him relieved, but it's Ft. Hood so a SFC is a God so nothing happens. The guy did everything he could to make everyone miserable because he was miserable. I was reclassing so I left the unit for a bit. Upon return I learned he was chaptered out because of some incident he caused, physical altercation, with a new private and the SGM and BN Commander saw it happen. In the Army's experience ex Drill instructors are bitter and hate everyone because being drill takes you away from family far too often and far too long so the relationship fails. And they are taught to always point their anger at everyone who isn't them so they are constantly fueled by their own failure. This is just one example.

For $100 a month these guys can take up a martial art and learn how to fight. They'll gain self confidence, discipline and control. All of which goes into being a good husband and father and business man. Not paying some con men 18k to get screamed at belittled.

Capitalising "Manhood". Targeting people with throw away money who obviously have the physical fortitude to "Pass" a 3 day beasting doesn't sound like they have the time nor qualifications to help people who really need help. For the people who "Fail" they'll have even more unanswered questions about their self esteem which shows me the program does not care about any client and progresses (if any) afterward. $18,000.00 to get a piece of paper to say you could hack a 3 day event won't change the minds of employers or employees in an environment that doesn't revolve around that type of endurance.

That's my biggest beef with this bs. Idgaf if you want to sell your homemade O course as "Marine Harddick training Ninja Warrior" But there's a fine line to walk between hyping up the "military" side so people buy and lying. Either way. anybody active or out will laugh at you, but lying is just disrespectful to those who were in the shit, or did shit. I was an 03 who got unlucky and did a whole lot of training. Right place, Wrong time, wrong unit. If I started talking about Ramadi like I was there, I'd expect an old friend to fly out and slap the shit out of me because I'd deserve it.

Man you don’t got to join the military to get discipline tbh, it matured me faster but I learned a lot at home. No one hired me, I had to make an effort to change and I promised to do everything I had talked about. I got a minor in history for fun and working on a bachelors in history. The goal is to get in the medical industry and I’m not to far away . The only thing that keeps me going is fear of failing. Having no meaning in life is depressing and I don’t want to go back to that ever.

You don't find that in a 72 hour suck fest or graduating a military course. It is something you build and maintain for the rest of your life that doesn't require $18k.

The price point is outrageous. The rest of it... look at it like running a marathon. This "marathon" is military themed, a little cringe stereotype, almost certainly not making you a better person in its self. Marathons have entry fees, usually go to event organization such as paying event organizers to pass out water, pay city fees, pay OT for emergency personnel to be on standby, etc... What do you get out of it? You get to hang your Placard on the wall and say you ran a marathon. A few people may take home some kind of trophy or medal. (A few because there's usually multiple awards for age bracket as well as overall.) You get something similar or of both. You said you were going to do something hard, you did something hard. While you were there participating, you run into an urge to quit, but you don't quit. That's all you get out of it. Knowing that you can and will accomplish what you set your mind to. IMO go pay the $25 entry fee for your local marathon and hit a target time.

There is a program called Devil Pups, which I think is what that “squire” program, is trying to resemble. I’m proud to have been a part of Devil Pups 2009, I had a great time, it almost feels like you were part of the marine corps, that’s probably because it is ran by actual drill instructors, hosted on Camp Pendleton, during regular SOI training cycles. Devil pups required each of us to qualify with minimum physical and mental aptitude (not super major I believe it was a 6:45 mile 12 dead hangs 50 pushups and 30 crunches plus an essay) for the opportunity, and you can be kicked out at any moment. No matter how hard ‘squires’ or the ‘modern day knight’ things will trie it’ll always be something they paid for, not truly earned.
