Flannel shirt muffling the drum = fucking awesome That call-and-response guitar bit is one of my favourite things they have ever done -- especially at 2:00 altho it's a little drowned out here by the brass. Pure magic.

The drum sounds like the beat of my heart when I listen to this song.....they are one of a kind!!!

Was lucky enough to finally see The National live last week in London. What a special night - you have to see them live, magic!

This is my favorite song right now! I honestly have no idea why.. maybe my memories are fading in on themselves. But my heart literally aches when I listen to this song. So I'm not going to put this song on repeat... I don't ever want to get sick of this song. I'm going to treasure it in the middle of all my playlists :)

Mi sono goduta questa incredibile performance direttamente dalla prima fila, con la pioggia che scrosciava e tanti sconosciuti accanto a me che esultavano per la stessa cosa, per lo stesso grande amore. Is it weird to you that the guitars aren't in sync? There is some echo on the original but not throughout the tune. I don't think I could play that second guitar live.
