old indie tracks that aren’t on spotify have a special place in my heart

I heard this song a decade ago and it hasn't left my head yet. Love these two

It's a shame that a cover has so many views while the brilliance of the original artist goes relatively unnoticed. That being said, a phenomenal cover, done by two phenomenal artists.

This cover is glorious and I would pay to have it on spotify.

I love the way being used to hearing Matt in the National where he is always singing so low, when he starts the song “weary sun, sleep tonight” he sounds hesitant to hit such a high note from what we’re used to hearing from him

I can't believe this the first time I've listened to this. I'm blown away.

My two fave singers.. together.. GAHH! (crys) never thought.. something so great would happen.. this is the new heaven song..

Their voices complement each others very nicely.

I purchased this track and the original version by Crooked Fingers back in 2011 from Amazon Prime, and now this track is no longer in my purchased playlist. This is my favourite version of the song. Arrrrrgh, I hate Amazon.

Its hard to express in words how much I love this song and especially this Version, just gives me goosebumps.

"Dignity and Shame" by Crooked Fingers is the best release of 2005. "Twilight Sleeps" and "Call To Love" are beautiful songs!

Once in a while a you get to hear a cover of a great song that somehow makes it even better. This song was a great surprise.

When they played at the Hollywood bowl I said to myself I know that red guitar then when she stepped out. As i'm a bigger fan of Ms. Clark at first I screamed then, explained to those around me who she was then alas, I melted. This is absolutely beautiful.

There's something so sophomoric about The Nationals' use of horns and highschoolish ensemble that makes them the perfect band. Takes me back to band class and dreaming of what could be one day if I just worked hard enough.

i rather like it. clever boys. they did their best to please and we really appreciate.

the song can be found on a merge records compilation for their 20th anniversary where non-merge artists covered classic merge songs. the original version of this song is by the incredible crooked fingers. it can be found on their album, dignity and shame. while this version is fantastic, the orignal is quite something!

her voice is so soft. I tend to forget such sensibility is possible in the human condition. lets love each other more often people.

Yeah, Neko and Eric Bachman recorded the definitive version of this, and I’m a huge fan of both The National and St V. This just can’t compare.

Ehh... is that really Spotify's fault though? I use Spotify to discover bands, and if I like them, I go to concerts and buy records. At some point, I think it's up to us as consumers to support the bands we enjoy.

No way! I love this version, but the original is just perfect in every way.

This is weird and I’m not sure why there’s a woman named st Vincent lol I looked this up because I swear the national has a song in the movie called St. Vincent with bill Murray😂

You’re attempting to turn the subjective into objective. I find this cover to hold a certain melancholia that either of the other one has.

Very good but original has a story in the music that this lacks. This is very good though.

I love this version. The original by Crooked Fingers is so much better tho. I'm sorry.

The guy sounds bored and St. Vincent isn't at her best. I love Annie but the Neko Case version was much better.
