The British mandate of Palestine was not a state, and it did not correspond to any distinct ethnic group, or national identity or former government province. It was just a patch of the former Ottoman Empire. No reason why it shouldn't have been partitioned like it was supposed to be.

Once I attended a presentation by a Palestinian. He started the presentation by saying he was not looking for justice. Meaning going back over the millennia trying to decide who was there first and so on. He said then that there was only a way forward and that was he believed a two state solution. Israel can have three things but only two of them simultaneously. 1) All the land 2)A Jewish state 3) A just democracy. Israel must choose and they can't shot or kill their way out of this dilemma.

Just a question I’m bothered with: IF Palestinians can forget Nakba, and Israel would sign an agreement which would allow Palestinians to find refuge in Israel plus compensation, would things be better? The reason for my question is historical paralleling with the ingenious indies that were also harassed and evicted from their homes and even killed! As I investigated, they now have free rights and even received some money. Not to say America can’t wash away its crimes but indies are ready to mix with America and contribute! Everyone has an axe to grind! “Maybe”, the same can be said about Palestinians: if they fully accept their history as a fact that is in the past, no more hatred and rhetoric, no more terror, etc…, is there such a possibility? Even more so because they lost 2 wars attacking israel and lost more land because of it. The jews in the times of the romans were kicked out for the same reason, they couldnt accept their loss and kept fighting back until rome banned all jews from living in judea, and then renamed it to palestine. So ultimately they lost that land for 2 thousand years because of their inability to simply accept the defeat. You literally made all that up, david wasnt a jew, and the "kingdom" he had was a tiny little village hilltop. See finkelsteins archeology for example. I didnt know you had access to history books noone else has, or like i said you just made it all up because theres zero sources for the narrative you just came up with. The early formation of the tribes was local, the israelites formed from the local caananites, they worshipped many gods(which the bible is very open and clear about). Palestinians are oppressors too. They have always carried out attacks on Israeli civilians. Where two fight, two are to blame. It is not that one side is peaceful and the other is not. I fear Israel will empty the West Bank and the Gaza strip for the mother of all Nakba's that will still be remembered 7.500 years later. I see this going towards a Palestinian state in Egypt. They have enough land. They should give some to the Palestinians.

Antisemitism lives in the foundations of human society and human nature. The human ego-the desire to enjoy at the expense of others and nature-evolves throughout history and during a person’s life. The more it grows, the more it feels an opposite force also dwelling within. That opposite force is called a “point in the heart.” Contrary to our egoistic desires that wish solely to absorb pleasures into themselves, the point in the heart is a desire that has potential to develop into a desire that loves, gives and positively connects to others. The point in the heart is also known as the seed of the soul, as we can develop it to discover our soul-the connection that underlies those very points. The realization of the potential encased in this small point of desire is the ability to rise above the human ego, where instead of detaching from one another through our growing egoism, i.e. increasingly prioritizing self-benefit over benefiting others, we instead prioritize the benefit of others and positive human connection. The point in the heart is the opposite of our egoistic nature. There are people who host only the negative egoistic force, and there are people who have both the negative egoistic force and the positive altruistic force. Likewise, if we solely host the negative egoistic force with no revelation yet of the point in the heart, then we are called “nations of the world” according to that essence. We underwent several stages of development throughout history. The point in the heart first surfaced throughout human society in ancient Babylon. The Babylonians who felt the inner urge to seek something deeper in life beyond the earthly egoistic desires joined Abraham, who taught a method for how to nurture the point in the heart in order to rise above the ego and positively connect. Abraham organized the Babylonians who wanted to study with him into a group, and he called this group “Israel,” which is made up of the words “Yashar Kel” (“straight to God”), i.e. people who aim themselves directly at the attainment of nature’s upper force of love, bestowal and connection, which is opposed to the force existing in human beings, the force of reception. Since Abraham’s time, the two groups-Israel and the nations of the world-have undergone much development. Some from the Israel camp left the group to pursue their natural egoistic inclinations, i.e. with an inclination to the nations of the world, while some from the nations of the world felt that they possess a special closeness and connection, which draws them to Israel. In other words, Jews are not a nationality, but they are people who host the point in the heart, which associates them with the positive force of nature, and which is opposite to the egoistic force that we are born and raised with by nature. The source of antisemitism is in the contrast and conflict between the two opposite desires of our inborn egoism and the point in the heart that can develop our ability to rise above the human ego.

wouldnt by the same logic the holocaust be the same if not worse than the nakbah? I dont see poland or ukraine or any other european nation giving back the houses of jews that were destroyed. or an even more difficult question. what about the ethnically cleansed jews that were thrown out of there homes in arab countries and had to flee to israel in the 60s? most israelis are people that fled themselves. and another question: if israel ethnically cleansed the territory how is it that 2 million arabs live in israel now?

Significant reparations have been paid out to Jews as a result of the Holocaust. Unfortunately 6 million of them died. A dead person can’t reclaim their house. Israel didn’t completely ethnically cleanse the area, but they removed many people.

Even if I agreed with Khalidi's assessments, he's talking about events that happened three quarters of a century ago. So what is his solution given present day realities? How would he resolve the conflict? To have the Palestinians continue to wallow in victimhood and sacrifice their lives in a cause they'll never win? Or accept the reality of Israel's existence and negotiate a settlement in which the rights of both Israelis and Palestinians can live peacefully.

There's nothing wrong with the US and Britain "letting" Jewish people go to Palestine. They wanted to go there because they're Jewish, and they wanted to return to their ancestral homeland. Returning to Jerusalem is a commandment in Judaism.

First cogent argument. You are omitting the fact that the return to Zion has been consistently and constantly in Jewish prayer and dreams since the Roman diaspora. True that Christian Zionists were supportive at best, but the Third Commonwealth would have never occurred if Jews would have ever forgotten their dreams of returning to Zion. Besides, despite that diaspora, there has always been a Jewish presence in that land and since the 18th century, Jews were a plurality in Jerusalem. For three generations the Arab inhabitants of that land continue to wallow in victimhood. Their Arab brothers have them remain in their rancid refugee camps. Lebanese American Princeton professor, Philip Hitti (1886-1978), who testified before the Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry in Jerusalem in 1946 stated that, "There is no such thing as Palestine in history, absolutely not." Of course, what Hitti meant was that there was no Palestine in Arab history, in which he is correct. Hitti was opposed to even using the word Palestine in maps because it was "associated in the mind of the average American, and perhaps the Englishman too, with the Jews."

Between 1948 and 1967 more than 800,000 Jews were expelled from Arab countries (Iraq, Tunisia, Jordan, Syria, etc). You seem to have forgotten that. Israel has not forgotten because more than 1/2 of Jewish citizens are descended from these refugees. The children and grandchildren and great grandchildren are not refugees.

I am not neutral. After 1000's of years being invaded by turks, egyptians, then even Romans, the Jewish people were dispersed. The Palestinians are the off spring of greeks (the sea people )who were looking for a new place to settle, and arabs. The world decided at the end of the holocaust, the original indigenous tribes of Abraham , yes the Israelites, get a small sliver of land that they originally inhabited, they get it back. The "Israelites" have continually said lets split up the land once and for all. The palestinians can't say, yeah, it wasn't our land originally, but we still do not want to negotiate.
