orangesonya 1318 don't worry you're not alone 😂 I've always thought it was Hwasa since she loves to use falsetto too (unlike you who thought it was Solar) since Wheein was singing her line in the mv during that 'dolphin part' (hehe) in the song. But when i heard darada, that's the only time i was convinced it was Wheein, and felt like a failed moomoo 😂😂😂

I love that moonbyul apparently didn't realize Wheein was going for it live and she was pleasantly surpised (like all of us) at 0:38. But, to be honest, I knew it was Wheein. As much as Solar (my amazing Yeba) is usually the high note belter of Mamamoo, I swear Wheein (to me at least) seems to have even stronger pipes and a more extensive range with her voice...

Noah Guedes wheein surpasses solar by a hair in singing "healthily". If u r talking about belting n high notes solar is still unbeatable with better lung power.what wheein is hitting here is a falsetto which is hwasa's n wheein's stronger suit. Its like comparing christina aguilera with beyonce

yup. Both Hwasa and Wheepup sing a little more R&B style, and Wheein has a slightly more smoother sweeter voice then Solar's rougher, rocker style, and Hwasa covers the slightly lower registers. They're all great singers, even Moonbyul, while covering rapping duties, is quite the singer too.

i'm late to the party but i still wanna give my 2 cents if you don't mind :D i'm no expert but just from listening, i think wheein definitely uses the healthiest techniques and has the most rounded voice among all of them, so she has a good range and a versatile voice. the only thing that i would say she lacks is this roughness and power that hyejin and yongsun can execute, like she can still belt out those powerful high notes (check their delilah performance), but compared to hyejin's and yongsun's powerful high notes that feel like trucks are being rammed to your body, wheein's are more like punches and kicks -- both still hurt but the former hurts more.

Wherein is better than Solar and Hwasa for only a little bit, and the note was within the soprano range so I’d say all 3 can hit that note. That being said tho, Wheein’s belts and falsetto have always been more relaxed and less pushy than Solar and Hwasa tho

Technically, Wheein is the first place. Solar is the special agent for high note belting. Wheein is falsetto. But I love four of them. They are vocally amazing.

Magdalena Mashudi no one in mamamoo has achieved head voice. The note is actually falsetto. In mamamoo wheein has the healthiest technique, the most balanced mixed and the strongest lower register. Solar’s notes above C5 tend to be strained. And then her high notes from D5/Eb5 and up are actually her screaming because she’s making her self force the notes out. Yes they’re all amazing but wheein is the most skilled once you factor in technique

For me, Wheein has the best vocal technique among Mamamoo. I don't know, all are good vocalists, but Wheein does it REALLY effortlessly. Like she's smiling while hitting that note. I may look dying if I did that. 😂

린도이치고 yes true that. You described it so well. It's just she always does amazing stuff behind the scenes like supporting the song. Like I would have to listen to Mamamoo songs multiple times and EXTRA carefully because they always sneak in amazing vocals. In Decalcomanie, for example, when Moonbyul raps, Wheein does this amazing vocal thing that gives another supportive tone to the rap. I didn't notice it the first time around but during live performances you could hear her clearly and it's flawless every time.

Moonbyul is a singer to begin with, as she and the other members mentioned, the company just made her into the rapper for Mamamoo because they had enough singers, why are people always so surprised that she can sing as well as the other members? She has a beautiful and powerful lower register voice(Alto, I think?), she is a wonderful rapper as well, but she started as a singer, it's a shame being asked to be the rapper messed with her confidence as a singer, that's why she wouldn't sing(at least publicly) for a long time. I'm happy she found her confidence again, because she has a beautiful and powerful voice, as I said before.

She's still a very good, singer don't get me wrong though, but she definitely gets overshadowed in terms of power and technique. She has started to get more confidence as of late though which is good!

You could see Moonbyul getting pleasantly caught off guard. You can see it on Wheein's face, "I'mma gonna do it, kek!"

I knew it was my baby, but still got me shooketh just like byul lmao.

People fail to realise once you factor in technique wheein is actually the best vocalist, her singing is the healthiest out of the group and her range is actually the biggest. I don’t know how the company goes about choosing who is the main vocalist but based off of technique and range I would have chosen wheein. And I’m not saying that because I have anything against solar because I don’t. Because they’re all actually really good vocalist.

The main singer is usually the one who sings the climax part of the songs. Solar has more power in her belts and an insane belting range (up to A5 in Road to Sampo) so those parts fall on her usually. But the lead/main distinction is pointless in Mamamoo, all three vocalists are really close in talent and each brings something different to the table. Three parts of a whole.

It depends on their timbres and they use different technique. Solar and Wheein are both great vocalist, Solar is a belter with full, warm, resonated and lil husky voice while Wheein is airy, sexy and husky voice. They develop different register from each others, for Solar is her belt range and for Wheein is falsetto register. On the other hand all of the members have used unhealthy technique, both Solar and Wheein are nasal, for Wheein, she does it more than Solar, both of them strain in high/high-mid belt or do unbalance mix (Solar: chesty mix, Wheein: heady mix), Solar does it more. All of the member use growling vocal (it's not always unhealthy but it usually is and singer shouldn't abuse it unless she's a professional gospel singer) Wider range doesn't make people a better singer, take Arianna Grande and X-tina for example, their range are wide but their technique are consider not good compare to good vocalist in their place. Kpop is all about high note but the most important thing is : did the singer hit it properly and frequently with good technique. A note is only considered as a part of your vocal range only when you can do this. Btw, in this video Wheein did it really well, but don't compare the girls in this mean way, they are group members, family to each others, not competitors. Ther both great the same level by their ways.

I thought it was Wheein because her ad-lib in Decalcomanie at the last chorus was her using her head voice. In Woo Hoo, it was a head voice too so I assume it was Wheein lol

I always knew it was wheein lol hwasa's voice is a bit more airy and solar has never done a note like that before spread it guys! more love for wheein please ;)

Eb6 in falsetto? i knew it was wheein because of the her lovely voice color.. shes been slayin for a long time now.

In the same case as Decalcomanie, the part when Wheein used her head tone (lower than this notes but super amazing) after they sang “clap ur hand” in last part or after Hwasa saying SCREAM in the live version.. I didn’t realize in both the mv and audio.. But after hearing the live one, I am super amazed of Wheein’s vocals .. She is really great :D

i heard that whistle notes are quite straining to the throat but i still wish she would do it a bit more often because i love being blown away by how amazing her vocals are lol now i can't stop replaying that part where she does the whistle note :D

thatsbombyo its not a whistle, its head voice. also, whistles arent straining if done right but it is always better to use head voice.
