The Murder That Shook Up The CCP | The Big Steal

Before his fall from grace, Bo Xilai was at the height of his power in China’s political establishment, considered a rival to no-less than Xi Jinping, the current President of China.
However, the murder of a business associate marked the beginning of the end of Bo’s grasp on power.

Underreported???? You could make a video a day on American politicians who have murdered others AND stolen hundreds of millions of dollars from American tax payers, and not run out of content for at least a few years. But Vice hasn't made a single one of those. I am really starting to be concerned that Vice is receiving money for video production from the US government because of their increase in anti-china content.

Can anyone give me quick run down? For example on a quick run down. According to Cambodian media reports, a US-made explosive weighing almost one ton containing more than 500 kilograms of explosives was uncovered opposite the Royal Palace in the capital Phnom Penh the other day. In April this year alone, at least five unexploded US aerial bombs were discovered in Cambodia by the Cambodian Mine Action Center, each weighing more than 200 kilograms. Some local scholars pointed out that the US self-styled global peace and democracy is built on hypocrisy, deception and violence incited all over the world, and only brings chaos, instability and threats to the peace and security of countries smaller in size with less power. They called on the US not to interfere in other countries’ internal affairs in the name of democracy and human rights, or use double standards to create chaos and turbulence that undermines peace, democracy and human rights. What is China’s comment? Zhao Lijian: I have also noted relevant information. During the Vietnam War, the US used cluster bombs and bio-chemical weapons and committed heinous crimes in Southeast Asian countries including Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. I did my homework before coming here and I have some examples to share. Back then, the US released more than 15 million tons of bombs, landmines and shells in Vietnam, of which about 80,000 tons are unexploded and remain scattered in nearly 20% of the country’s territory. Over the more than 40 years after the end of the Vietnam War, the unexploded ordnance has killed more than 40,000 people and wounded more than 60,000, or about 1,000 and 1,500 respectively per year. By the current speed of removal, these explosives are expected to be cleared in 300 years. The US sprayed about two million gallons of Agent Orange in Vietnam to destroy the Ho Chi Minh Trail, which infected nearly five million Vietnamese and killed 400,000 people. About two million people got cancer or other diseases. And many children were born with congenital deformity and disabilities. In Laos, the US troops dropped 270 million bombs, weighing two million tons together, meaning one ton or 135 bombs for each people in the country. About 80 million bombs, or nearly 30% of the total, did not detonate and are still buried in 37% of Laos territory. More than 200,000 people have lost their lives in more than a hundred incidents involving mistakenly triggering the bombs every year after the war. The local socioeconomic development has also taken a heavy toll. In Laos, 46 out of the 47 most impoverished areas are densely filled by unexploded ordnance. The still-incomplete data of Yale University reveals that from October 1965 to August 1973, the US dropped 2.7 million tons’ worth of ordnance on Cambodia.  Statistics of the Cambodian government show that from 1979 to 2021, nearly 20,000 people were killed and more than 45,000 people were crippled by unexploded ordnance including landmines. The US keeps talking about defending democracy and human rights in Southeast Asian countries. They should not profess this until they remove all the unexploded bombs. But sadly, tragedies of the last century are being repeated in the new era. In the past two decades, the US military has launched over 90,000 air strikes on Syria, Iraq and other countries, killing approximately 48,000 civilians. Editor: Zhu Yan Source US bombs, bio-weapons found in SE Asia once again proves US's conflict-making nature I can't put the link without being censored. Manually search for it.

He pushed the police out of their offices onto the street, set up permanent police station points throughout the city, we felt the city was much safer. He also spent a lot of money cleaning up the streets, improving images of Chongqing, refreshed the shopfronts of the city etc. Yes we all knew he was corrupt and once powerful, but most normal people remembered a lot of good about him. They will even be executed if they did something bad enough. Same goes for rich billionaires etc. China is a country of laws and equality, you cannot just buy politicians and they write laws for you. No. That is USA and the west. In China you will be punished by the law no matter you are a high ranking politician or a rich billionaire. Just look at corruption, which USA has legalised as "lobbying" under citizens united. You can legally buy politicians and hire them as "consultants" for millions as soon as they leave office. There is no chance that is allowed in China, because that is corruption and bribery. As it should be. Not like in the west where this is legal and normal part of politics. West and rest of the world needs of learn from china. China learned and took all the best parts of western gov and adapted it, while removing all the rubbish like corruption and dual party opposition. Intra party opposition is much more efficient and healthier for the country and getting things done. Opposition is tearing USA and the west apart, society has turned polarised, become toxic and nothing ever gets done. No country who ever adopted western liberal democracy ever improved as a result of it. Just look at India compared to China. If they improved it was despite it, not because of it.

In order to get into the group of top 8 leaders of the party, a member has to work for the government at a province with a certain population(like 20m) for a certain period (like 20 years). It's the same for Bo with his Chongqing job. Xi did it too. Someone likes to interpret it as 'internal struggle' but I doubt they know about how the party works. Actually Bo grew up with Xi together and they were like brothers. And interesting thing is, Bo had always been considered the 'Leader' of their group while Xi was like a sidekick. As a result everybody was expecting Bo to become the one on top until the corruption case came up. Hell of a struggle on Xi's side though. Did Xi really carried out the 'Anti-Corruption' operation to eliminate his political opponents? Nobody knows. But he's still arresting corrupt officials every once a while till this day, but nobody accused him of corruption at court yet, which is interesting to think about. I know this because I'm Chinese and like to dig into the mechanism of the party.

Unlike the Cuban Party the CCP is much more like Stalin's because that is where its history comes from. So the use of frame up methods and intrigue are to be expected as scapegoats become targets for any kind of social discontent over past polices that occurs. The Party elite can't just announce to the Chinese workers and peasants it wants the power and prerogatives of the American Imperialists who couldn't tell the American workers they wanted Hitler's dream of a thousand year Reich. Unlike American politicians unabashed defense of capitalist exploitation and foreign Imperialist investment China'a Imperialism with Chinese Characteristics Party.finds itself adopting the thoughts and quotes of past leaders based upon past popularity instead of leading the world class struggle at home or abroad. instead of praising the ideal bourgeoisie entrepreneur in America as social leader. USSR's failure roots from the deficiency of its system, which led to corruption and incompetant officials. On the other hand CCP's way of anti-corruption is a new invention that suits itself, the same as its selecting mechanism. And it's working well since Xi came into power. So Chinese people don't really mind CCP holds power forever as long as it keeps deliver what it promises like the past 70 years. That's a part where westerners never understand but it's ok. Sincerely hope they will figure it out someday though before its too late.

China has achieved great progress thanks to the revolution that drove out the Western Imperialist off the mainland and the Chinese Internationalist volunteers who drove the US Imperialist back down the Korean peninsula. Parties came into being with the English Parliamentary system and developed to represent the different classes in societies. Just what do you think the deficiency of the Soviet System was? After all Commissar of War and Naval Affairs Leon Trotsky had defeated 14 Imperialist Armies and a breathing period was now available despite the defeat of the revolution in Germany to build new Communist Parties to replace the politically bankrupt Social Democratic Parties of the Second International including the first workers party in China the CCP. You do realize yours is a American pragmatic defense of Xi and not one based in Marx's historical materialism.

@@kimobrien. Don't know where you are from but today's China is a developing country where changes happen through reformation rather than revolution. Any theory needs to be combined with certain reality in order to work. That's basically what Maosim is about. Fundamentalism of Marxism-Leninism with no regard to current state of a society will lead to nowhere. If you are really interested in Chinese communist party I recommend reading Mao's and Deng's works because they were the more direct reason to China's rise than original Marxism-Leninism.

1:50 hmm... your depiction of the CYL (Tuanpai) sounds alright, but I'm not sure if you can describe the Princelings as a political group like that... a Princeling is a Chinese politician defined but as a child of another Chinese politician. The son of the Tuanpai Wen Jiabao for example is a princeling, but chances are he thinks like his father. What it *sounds* like you're describing is the Shanghai Clique which is indeed full of Princelings who were appointed by it's leader Jiang Zemin, but ofc is not just a collection of all the Princelings. The Shanghai Clique is (or was... or what's left of it is) indeed full of proponents of the economic growth focus over the Tuanpai's socioeconomic concerns. But Bo Xilai was not part of the Shanghai Clique. In fact you can probably say he was the furthest thing from it. Bo was one of the pioneers/crusaders of the Chinese New Left (which Xi Jinping is a part of), which has very much detested the Dengist neoliberal-ish politics Jiang wheeled in in the 90's. The New Left is very much concerned with the maintenance of Mao-reminiscient socialist principles in China and consequently the rollback of much Deng Xiaoping Thought-led reform (like you address in 3:50 and 4:50). Actually many of the Shanghai Clique cronies have been imprisoned by Xi's New Left anti-corruption campaigns. Now this doesn't preclude you from saying that Bo Xilai himself prioritized economic growth if you want to (I don't know that claim to be wrong necessarily) but, 1. his clique was more of the New Left than the Princelings (which isn't a clique to begin with really) and 2. I don't know how accurate it would then be to say that the New Left as a whole particularly prioritizes economic growth really.
