We do, we really do. As for her actual comment. Pyramids were build by an artisan class specialized in building them supported by seasonal workers. Given this was a religious duty slaves were at best sparingly used. It would be like forcing a servant to pray for you by proxy, it just doesn't work that way. We have payment records of the workers. We know they had their own healthcare system and with the time it took to build the monuments, their own towns at the edge. Here their families lived with the same doctors. When they died they were buried with great honor but with limited funds. They were probably well respected. As for how they did it, we don't know. Not because we have no idea but because we don't know which of the myriad methods they specifically used. Was it impressive? Certainly. Was it impossible? Not remotely. We've always been smart and it was just a lot of back breaking hard work. Water and levers are your friend.

Because he had a clear vision of his project from the start, he was always able to give way more than his budget would allow. And I don't care if the CGI was not perfect. I agree! And his films usually had a diverse ensemble cast of great character actors. Maybe "Deep Rising" would be a good HallowBeans pick...

Thanks for the Mummy movies Mr. Fraser. It's always a pleasure watching these films, or reactions of them.

My favorite Brendon Fraser movie is Blast from the Past. He usually does comedies but I think one of his most underrated films was School Ties which was not a comedy at all.

A fact I haven’t seen anyone mention: Brendan Fraser almost died when they filmed the Hanging scene. He was accidentally being choked out for real and lost consciousness a couple of times.

"Are library ladders real?" As someone who dang near grew up in a library and has a crippling fear of heights, *yes.* Though the ones I encountered were mounted on rollers at the tops of the shelves.

"The Mummy" (1999) is much more action/ comedy than horror--that's certainly true. I went to the theater expecting to see a horror movie in 1999 when I first saw "The Mummy," and the fact that my expectations were so confounded really put me off on this film for a long time. I had to rediscover it many years later before coming to fully appreciate it for what it is, as I do now.

It's a *monster* movie, not a *horror* movie. There's actually not that much crossover between the two genres, and that does tend to throw off some horror fans that expect horror in monster movies. Monster movies are usually just action movies featuring large, deadly creatures/groups of creatures, or dramas centered around an abomination. There's generally very little psychological terror involved. Monster movies just get lumped into the horror genre the way sci-fi and fantasy - two separate and unrelated genres - always are.

Okay, "A Mummy does bad things" killed me. But of course! Then I pictured a Mummy doing good things; fixing a flat tire for someone, dishing out food at the soup kitchen, cleaning off waterfowl caught in an oil spill...
