The Most Useful Shop Tool I've Made!

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This is how I built the most useful tool accessory in my wood workshop! It makes it so easy to move around the shop while still having access to dust collection and power for all of my tools. This is a MUST for stepping up your skills and your shop to create even better projects!

Thanks for showing the “fail” and the “fix.” Overcoming and adapting is what we do.

😂😅 I made one from an old scooter strapped upside-down to the wall and some 2" metal fence posts welded together for the boom. Works a lot better than I expected

Great idea using a retractable reel for power. I'm going to have to build an arm boom soon.

Why not use solid tubing on the arm to increase flow rate?

I used 2" metal fence posts welded together for a 10' boom. Built in dust collection 👍

What is the point of the cable reel if the cable is zip tied? Also that is way too much flex hose, you are loosing a lot of suction with that. Use hard pipe where you can.

Hello. Great build. How did you get it to retract? Thanks David Phillips

The retractable cord reel automatically retracts, just pull it slightly out towards you until you hear a click and then let go and it should reel right in !

Watching as I type... yeah I was questioning the melamine choice. Not my go to material for anything that might sag. Cool design though.

Exactly. Partical board will crumble under that kind of load. It's not designed for this type of use. I think a tube would be more efficient with no 90° bends. I also would have used heavy door hinges when you have that amount of length. They are designed for downward pull as well as being made of thicker steel. I do like the cord being attached to the boom, but it would be on a separate base screwed into a stud.

Melamine with 700 triangles cut out of it. What could go wrong?
