    I think the biggest hurdle for people to get over, is doing these kinda exercises in a commercial setting without feeling stupid. Which is a shame

    I agree. You have train what works for you, at the end of the day it’s your health and screw what anyone else thinks. I do giant sets of calisthenics the entire time I workout and I get the weirdest stares from people. You can’t get caught up in others opinions 🤙

    I personally couldn’t care less. I get the dudes doing rounded back dead’s and good morning squats but training your neck is supposed to look stupid

    The neck can also get too big. Be aware of that. I got horrible sleeping issues from my neck being too big after wrestling and starting weightlifting. I still had the big wrestling neck but added more bulk due to lifting. No bueno.

    Deep cervical flexor missing (front neck) and over emphasis on erector spinae (back neck). Look upper cross sydrome for reference

    Every time I try to do dynamic neck, movements, I end up in neck pain, I feel like static is the way to go For the neck.

    Lots of ab exercises can get it- for instance crunches without using hands behind the head. One that I found really good is crunches on a swiss ball with the neck hanging off the back.

    I can only just bring myself to doing neck curls in the gym when it's relatively quiet, damn do neck exercises look so silly. Also you didn't even put the mans socials in the description or on screen, that's pretty messed up if you ask me.

    If you think about how heavy the head is and how it sits on top of our spine you can see how strengthening the neck can help stabilize our whole kinetic chain

    I used to train my neck with neck curls, I loved them and my neck got big but I got scared off them when Mike Tyson said those type of movements destroyed his neck.

    keep your chin tucked and don't do full ROM movements, especially backwards, to reduce pressure on intervertebral discs (static holds should be safer and effective), the risk is to develop a hernia (protrusion of a disk, potentially pushing on nerves), which if not too bad can heal if you let it. Just as always listen to your body, don't start/increase crazy, don't push through pain

    3:35 you can turn around and have the band placed on the forehead and do the same exercises pushing forward. It works the sternocleidomastoid muscles on either side of the front of the neck.
