    You should install the SSD in M2A_CPU. Otherwise your 4090 will only get 8 PCIE lanes instead of 16. From the board manual, page 8: "The PCIEX16 slot shares bandwidth with the M2C_CPU connector. The PCIEX16 slot operates at up to x8 mode when a device is installed in the M2C_CPU connector."

  • @jackelam3948

    @jackelam3948

    Жыл бұрын

    The 4090 still uses the PCIe 4.0 x16 Interface. So running an M.2 in the M2C_CPU will have no change on the performance of the GPU. This is because PCIe 5.0 x8 has the same bandwidth as the PCIe 4.0 x16 that the 4090s use.

  • @silenosile3229

    @silenosile3229

    Жыл бұрын

    @@jackelam3948 this is not correct. Any nvme you put in the top m.2 will reduce the PCIe from x16 to x8 and because the 30/40 series uses gen 4 PCIe, the card will run at PCIe 4.0 x8. x8 and x16 means physical lanes, no matter what protocol runs on them. The manual is clear on this. And the boards available PCI 5.0 doesn't magically double a PCI 4.0 graphic cards bandwidth. Maybe the performance difference isn't big anyway, but thats not the topic here.

  • @jackelam3948

    @jackelam3948

    Жыл бұрын

    @@silenosile3229 Yes you are correct, it was my confusion. I thought it would still have the available bandwidth of Gen 5.0 x8 resulting in the same as Gen 4.0 x16. Having tested now the PCIe x16 slot does instead run at Gen 4 x8 with the 4090 and the M2C_CPU populated. Whether or not the difference in performance is enough to warrant not using that slot I am yet to see. I currently have all of the M.2 slots running at Gen 4.0 x4 with the three on the chipset being setup in raid 0 with three 1tb drives.

    You have to use anti-sag bracket, read the manual, both motherboard and GPU vendors demand that, otherwise they will not repair any damages related to this. Even in this build you can already see your GPU is sagging a bit, with time it will get even worse if you will keep it for a long time.

    When intel went from the 12900k to the 13900k.. I was hoping they would add more P Cores, but they gave us more E cores instead.. not sure why they felt we need more E cores to run background tasks vs P Cores to run games.. I know, its about clock speed right? Well, that depends on what Intel makes and what the game developers then create their game to handle.. if you are only going to put in 8 P Cores, then the game makers are only going to build their games to quantity of P Cores.. myself, I would like to see more P Cores.. either 12 or 16.. 16 being optimal.. and my question would be, does AMD's 16 core processors, do all their cores get use in the games that are played on that system, or are only 8 cores being used of the 16? All 16 are used right? So why Intel would you not build your CPU with 16 P cores? Next round, lets increase the P Core Count.. 16 please.. Thanks in advance..

    I have my AIO fans on top of the radiator pushing air up and out at 10:50. The decision to have fans below the radiator may not be the best case for a graphics card that big unless someone can provide temperature data for this build. Yes, no doubt the CPU will run hot with fans on top, but you can clock the volts to have the CPU run within spec and every other part in your case will thus run cooler and last longer.
