I think if it fits your purpose and you like it and it plays everything you want for the coming years then it’s fine to spend 30k on it, hell I spent 15k on a DTR laptop and it’s still great. Guess I need to clarify since people don’t understand that people live differently than each other , but I’ve worked as a overseas contractor since 2016 in multiple high risk environments and having a desktop is not a reasonable thing to carry around so a DTR laptop is the next best thing. I grew in the early 90s as a tech enthusiast and built my first computer in 99/ 2000 and it was a k6-2 amd with a 128 rage from ati . Beyond that I went to school for electrical engineering and COT and I was been into the modding community so I like pushing the limits and once again a DTR laptop is the way to go for me . It’s a niche product and has a pretty long lifespan even though half the fake techies that follow Linus think hardware is outdated in a year lol top end or even mid grade hardware is good for atleast 8 to 10 yrs though certain things might not work as they should , most functionality will remain. So down to cost, well I’m fortunate enough to have a drive to get me to a place where I get paid very well so yea occasionally I spend a large mount on something I love or want . It’s not bragging if I just state the facts and why something is a reasonable purchase for me or many others.

If you want more expensive water, pick up deuterium oxide, a.k.a. heavy water. At $2000 per liter it's pretty pricey, but comes in high purity grades (so no minerals). It also has a higher heat capacity, so it actually improves the cooling.

@@Obbliteration Well they do probably have most of the core components on hand to throw onto a standardized test bench. It wont factor in the potential differences in exotic cooling systems but could still be an interesting interesting video concept to illustrate how top end hardware ages relative to the mid-high end builds of the same generations. Maybe a sponsored video when Intel/AMD/Nvidia(or one of their board partners realistically) next launch a mid-high end component targeting the enthusiast gaming market. It's unlikely to have any shocking conclusions but considering that content featuring high end stuff typically performs better in terms of views, IMO it's never a bad idea for somebody like LTT to show its audience why going top of the line generally isn't the best call, assuming you're a normal person to whom $1-2k is already significant investment even for a primary hobby nevermind $4-5k. Nobody should be feeling FOMO for not doubling the price of a build for an extra 30% or 40% performance uplift, but it's an easy trap to fall into when for example; everybody still talks about the 1080, but not the 1070 which topped the steam hardware survey for like 5 or 6 years IIRC. The differences between the 1st and 3rd best today might seem big, but in a few generations time they will the 10th and 14th best and are likely to be upgraded in similar time frames anyway.

But at the same time, in select titles, the 14900K will beat that. Also the 4090 is not ALWAYS king, in a couple of title the 7900XTX beats it. So... You need 7 systems, 2 14900K, 2 7800X3D and a Threadripper 7980 or whatever it's called, each with either GPU (txr with both). That way the first radiator brings your coolant down closer to ambient, and then the Peltier cools it below ambient. The other advantage being that the Peltier never acts as an insulator and your system can still run even if it fails or can't keep up. Not sure what EK was thinking with this setup.

I have been theory crafting about a system with a big reservoir and multiple loops. 1. reservoir > cpu > radiator > reservoir 2. reservoir > gpu > radiator > reservoir 3. reservoir > peltier cold side > reservoir 4. radiator > peltier hot sidd > rafiator This way you never have the downsides of the limits and insulating effect of the peltier because it is basically a normal system. The peltier just cools your reservoir aditionally. only downside is you have to insulate all the tubes and the reservoir if you plan to cool below the dew point.

This cooler would work perfectly fine even with a 7950x3D. The trick is not having a microwave for a CPU.

@@Enderplays12 For sure, if you throw strong enough TECs on it, you could make a setup like this work on any CPU, but it's still incredibly inefficient (on top of the inherent inefficiencies of TECs in general) and prone to unexpected failures. TECs have a limit to the amount of heat differential they can move (usually 20-40 degrees C), so the closer you can get a loop to ambient before introducing the TEC, the better sub-ambient cooling effect they will have. Without that, you start hitting thermal saturation points on the hot-side of the TECs and the they become a net-negative on performance.

Speaking of cheap RAM, I actually managed to get a whole 32 gigs of RAM for my computer (up from my previous and pitiful 8) for under 50 dollars. They were perfectly compatible with my board and were on a MASSIVE sale, so I basically quadrupled my RAM for almost no money.

Ik he said no exotic parts but the final ootane drives would've been so perfect for this. They are also so far ahead of the best nvme ssds I low queue depth random read bandwidth, iops and latency that youll commonly see 50-100% faster boot and load times. That's also the same reason it's so hard to notice the improvements of nvme ssds vs sata because they're progressing abysmally slow in these metrics.

I think a cool video idea would be to build the best PC for the cost of each component on this PC. Like build a computer for the cost of just the processor, the motherboard, PC case etc. So for the motherboard PC you would have 1200$ . It would be really cool to see how many PCs and what specs you could get out of them for the cost of each individual components.

13:01 Don’t know about this one. My Thor 1200P caused my system to randomly restart.I tried everything I could think of short of removing a 12V sense pin from the 24 pin connector. Swapped it out for a 1200W GF3 from Thermaltake which is supposedly a lower quality unit but it solved all my issues
